I don't care if Skype/Microsoft listens in, as long as they aren't watching when I get drunk and rowdy and start taking the extra layers of clothes off (LOL - kidding guys - if you've been with us on skype, I generally start with a sweater and move down to MAYBE a t-shirt if drinking enough Jack to warm me!  ha ha).

So I should do an instagram delivery with a 5th of Gentleman Jack? lol big_smile
I hope you make it as I have not met you  in a skype yet.

Zurf, from what I read, its going to stay mainly the way it is,, with this one exception,,,,

"There was a wildly terrifying story published late Friday on Slate that didn’t get much attention because of the time of the week it was released.
In it, the author – Ryan Gallagher – lays out how Microsoft (MSFT) seems to have made some subtle and (to most) imperceptible changes to the popular Skype calling service that allows it to eavesdrop on all of your calls going forward. (Forbes contributor Anthony Wing Kosner flagged the service changes in an earlier post published July 18.)
Although it’s not completely clear, some seem to think that Microsoft may have made the changes either from or in anticipation of pressure from various government entities.

So do we care if we fill up their data banks with our music and our drink infused humor?  Some might, but I dont.  They already have access to our free mail accounts if they want,
If there is is anyone who remembers the movie Sereinty,   Mr. Universe can be quoted here. I have taken the liberity of combining two of them : There is no news. There is only the truth of the signal.  You can't stop the signal. Everything goes somewhere, and I go everywhere. ---  Now all we need is to find the actual personification  of a Mr.Universe.

I like no, Love my EPI SG, it plays everything, from blues to country to death,,,, I also like the Dean Flying V with a hot rail pick up --- ITS HEAVY ALL THE WAY! and I like a strat, rightly equipped it does 80s metal pretty righteous,, but I would agree that a humbucker in the bridge and the selector on 2nd position is killer lol

I'm hoping to hit the river tomorrow morning for some pre-frontal fishing.  I'll probably wade so that I can get the heck out of there a lot quicker than a boat would permit.  I always wear a life jacket when I wade, but tomorrow morning I'll be especially careful.

add a long rope so you can pull against the current or at least get pulled to the shore.  We dont wanna hear how you got washed out to sea.   an if weather passes,, maybe do some skype sat night or sunday?  I have not picked up a guitar in a while.  Im not counting the 2 hours of banging out power chords with my headphones on at 2 am. lolo, lolol

Are you looking to recreate the solo exactly or jam out original stuff on it?

either way, it sounds like a mixolydian scale to me.

A mixolydian?

There are 2 guitars, but I kinda want to play it as exactly as possible.
You see there are 3solo's in the song. The first 2 are just 1 guitar, so I guess the 3rd one will be 1 guitar aswell?

http://gosk.com/scales/mixolydian-scale-for-guitar.php  shows it
and here marty gives you a lesson.

Jerome,

You could also just video your lessons  like Russ said and drop box is free up to 2 gigs.  eve if your doing the live tutorials, it would be cool to have it on camera so we would have a video reference.. Cause I can tell ya ill be a day later going "NOw what did he say and where do I do it from?"

Mike, I am a big fan of Marty and Pappa.
Pastache has more hard rock and electric, Marty has everything else and all the acoustic stuff. (For anyone who is wondering)

Can you select the audio source or driver to be used with the camera?

I have a very cheap web cam (12 bucks),  but it has a option in "setup" to choose its USB mic or Line.  I have not used it to make a vid, but for skype sessions, I run my Berhinger studio mic to my Berhinger 802 mixer and then from the outs to the line in on the sound card.  This way you can tweak the EQ for what is going into the vid or skype.

I would like to add my Welcome to the loony bin also.  This is the greatest site you can find for guitar.  I would also like to mention that if you watch the general forum, you will see on occasion, Skype jams.  There are a few people who have the premium accounts and can host up to 10 people for what is basically a campfire jam where each person takes a turn playing a song.  We all hear some music, give encourragement, some helpful suggestions, and just a bit of laughter and beverages. cool big_smile

I am probably the most inexperianced and bargain bin home studio guy here,, most of it baffels me, I bought Cakewalk 3 about 4 yrs ago (at least I think its 3) loaded it to my laptop and gave up.  same with reaper.  I just need someone working beside me to get it all.  I read and read and it just doesnt connect all the dots.  So I also use audacity. I  would also like to learn about the vidio stuff Russel talked about for my son to use.

I would like to hear your music. You can send the link to me by sending a e-mail.  Once again WELCOME

Yep fast fret and stringez, are nice.  If you look at the ingrediants,, it pretty much just mineral oil,,, So if you want to save yourself some money,, get a bottle of MO and a nice chammy.  you can clean strings and fret bd at same time.(mo on mo off with seperate cloth.)  if you want the lemon smell,, get a bottle of essiential oil lemon and put a coupple drops in.

Fast fret is preinpregnated cotton wadding with MO and string ease is MO with a little sent added.

I have looked up a few different guitar care sites.  it is almost an even split between mineral oil and pure lemon oil.  I have been using either or.  Have not noticed anything that would be called detrimental.

You dont need to deleat skype,, just set it to only come on when you click it,, remove the tab for "start skype with my computer" Under the settings tab.  You can do that to a lot of programs and your puter will also boot up faster.

I just bought a 2001  first act electric me315 found it in a antique store  they were asking 100.00 got it for 85.00 . I was told they were junk worth only 20.00 by a good friend I did some reasearch on line I have seen them going 2000.00  all the way down to 50.00 what is he talking about or is just his personal opinion ?

I'm sorry I missed this.  First act are intended to be used by toddlers and children.  They're available in Toys -R- Us and Wallmart.  Anyone trying to sell one for two grand is a scam artist.

I'd buy one for a six or seven year old, maybe, but if they expressed any interest at all in playing I would get them something a little more serious.  Genuine decent quality guitars are not that much more expensive.

85 bucks is what we bought a nice strat for from MF.  it was a musicians special.  When we got it it turned out to be an AXL.  plays good and sounds good. had set up and I added some new tuners.  the guitar normally goes for about 120 to 130 in town.

First act at one time did have some high end guitars,, but then they mass produced cheap stuff for mass sale at wall mart.  After 2 yrs of saturating the market with cheap instruments from guitars to bongos to drum sets,, everyone found out it was pretty poor stuff.  I feel sorry for the kids who lost all desire to play after getting this for christmas.  I really doubt that first act will fall into the must have cheap guitars in 30 yrs like a silvertone or dano or airline.

but have fun with it!  paint it up experment with it,, get started on it. and then upgrade.
