I've never seen a drummer stay so solid while having a seizure. He was having seizures right?

Pretty good link. I grew up listening to all of those artists and at the time I hated country. Now that I'm older I guess I'm a little nostalgic so I do play some older country. Great place for beginners and those of us that have some years of experience.

Went to the river, launched a boat and did a little fishing to slow down life. Much better outlook on things even though I didn't catch anything. So a little yardwork today and maybe a little more fishing therapy. Thanks for your feedback guys

Topic: What a week (7 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
This seemed to be one of those weeks where everything just seemed to be jinxed. My wife took her car in for inspection and found out it needs new rocker panels( about an $800.00 fix),my son received a cut on the back of his hand requiring a visit to the emergency room ,a visit to a hand specialist, surgery and follow up rehabilitation,my truck has decided to play will I start or not and to top it off I shot myself with a nailgun in my left index finger(no doctor visit but it's swollen and sore). Now that the weekend is here I'm not sure if I should go out and about or hide under the bed.Normally I would relax with my guitar but since I'm down to two working finger on my left hand that really isn't an option. Maybe I'll just watch television and peek through the curtains, that seems safe enough(LOL)

I agree with deadstring, pretty neat. It would be cool to be able to lay down your own guitar tracks over the harmonica, but I guess you can only have so much fun

Re: Attention Ovation Owners (20 replies, posted in Acoustic)
I didn't realize that Ovation even made a bass guitar, let alone a solid body. Maybe you could post some pics Zurf. I had a hard time getting used to the round back also, but through the use of a cheap lawn chair that put my hips lower than my knees and lots of beers ( to further relax the rest of my body) I've been able to overcome the sliding guitar syndrome common with Ovations(LOL) I've played some of the newer O's and am not impressed with the tone or the volume (unplugged) with the reconfigured sound holes. Basically there wasn't a problem and they should have left it alone. I don't know if it would be possible to cut another sound hole or port in the new ones or not. Glad to see there are other Ovation players on Chordie.

Re: Guitar Suggestions?? (13 replies, posted in Electric)
Check out the Epiphone Special models. You can get a Les Paul or an SG for around $200.00. I bought my son a Les Paul special and it plays well and sounds pretty good. If he wants to maybe get a higher end guitar to start, check out your local music shop or Craigs list. A word of warning though, have somebody knowledgeable assist if you go through Craigslist. I'm not saying that everyone out there will rip you offbut you don't want to buy somebodies disguised junk either. Lots of luck in your search

Whoops! MY bad. I forgot to add the link. Here you go Pashnit and anyone else: www.ovationfanclub.com My Ovation is a Standard Balladeer that I've had since 1987. It's about due for a new nut and some fretwork, but still plays and sounds sweet. Enjoy the site and welcome to Chordie

I've been trying to find info on my Ovation and came across an Ovation Fan club. Tons of links,a forum and prices according to model and year manufactured. All in all an informative site that looks promising. Also I'm curious, how many Ovation players are there who frequent Chordie?

Hey buddy, just wondering if you're still planning your trip up here to PA? If so give me a shout and maybe we can hook up for a meet and greet, maybe a little guitar if the timing works out. If your schedule doesn't allow it I understand. It's a busy world and family is first. But here's hoping that this happens.

Topic: R.I.P.-Ronnie James Dio (3 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
Just found out that heavy metal legend Ronnie James Dio passed away over the weekend due to stomach cancer. For those not familiar with him he fronted Ritchie Blackmores band Rainbow and took over as frontman for Black Sabbath after Ozzy split from the group. He also led his own band,Dio, and formed a version of Sabbath called Heaven and Hell. Although small in stature he had a voice that was huge. A true rock legend gone at the age of 67.

I don't follow golf too much but I did hear about that match. The man showed class and pride which is something lacking in a lot of people. I don't know if stiffer penalties are the answer (suspensions, fines) or maybe counseling. The Steelers have instituted a zero tolerence policy for their players. Basically if you get caught spitting on the sidewalk you can be fined. Big Ben stands to lose 2.8 million dollars for his little escapade if he sits for six games. On top of that he cost the Steelers $200,000.00 as their fine by the NFL . In addition one local (milledgeville GA) officer forced to resign and a PA State Police trooper sanctioned for demeaning the case. (He was working as Ben's bodyguard) As my dad says"IF it makes you go hmmm, it's probably a bad idea"

We've all heard about them. Some of them are on our favorite teams. What's up with the behavior of guys making millions a year for what is basically a part-time job. Plaxico Burris- in prison for carrying an unregistered gun. Santonio Holmes -released by the Steelers due to his attitude and 4 arrests in as many years. Adam Pac-man Jones-another promising career ended due to drug use and a street thug mentality. and last but certainly not least, Big Ben Roethlisberger- accused of sexual misconduct twice in two years(makes you wonder if he's been hanging with Tiger). These guys and many more are supposed to be the people our children want to be like and who more often than not are exactly the opposite of what we want our children to be. So why do so many people like these, who have advantages that most of us will never know, act like common criminals or "gangsters". Too much money and too little time? Unable to deal with being a celebrity? What do the Chordians think? Lets hear your opinion. Butch

Re: anyone else have trouble keeping hold of their pick (20 replies, posted in Guitars and accessories)
Due to having some issues with carpal tunnel in my right hand I tend to lose my grip on my picks constantly. I found a good solution with Star picks. They have a star shaped hole where your thumb and finger normally grip a regular pick. This allows skin to skin contact and really helps to anchor your pick. If you can't find them locally you can order them through Musicians Friend. I tried Gorilla Snot and although it helps you hold on I thought it was too much of a hassle. These picks are the best solution I've found.

Hey Zurf, no set plans for July other than my wife's family reunion . That is usually the last weekend of the month. Usually a lot of friends show up as well as family. That event is almost always a great time jamming with people of all skill levels joining in. Weekends are generally open as I work through the week and a visit from a fellow Chordian would be a great excuse to blow off the honey do list. Drop me an e-mail at strummer_1957@yahoo.com and I'll give you my phone number and we'll try to set something up. Ridgway is a relatively short drive for me and their are many places to camp around here. We have a huge backyard and a fire and guitars would be great. Between my gear and my kids gear we could set up an entire band and my nearest full time neighbor is about a quarter mile away so we don't have to worry about the noise. Hope to hear from you soon

Have to do a little bragging abut my two youngest boys. The wife and I took them to their first PA State Judo Tournament and got them entered. They have been studying for about 6 months and really have taken to it. In the past they have competed in high school wrestling and also a Korean martial art called Tang Soo Do. They really shined here though. Both placed silver in their weight divisions even though the older of the two was bumped up into the Senior(adult) division. We took them out for steaks after the matches to celebrate. All in all their dojo brought home 3 golds,8 silvers and a bronze.Couldn't be prouder

Well Zurf, the Clarion has cleaned up nicely and now has portions designated as a wild and scenic river. Actually a good portion of that area is from the Ridgway and Johnsonburg area. Here in Clarion County trout are abundant as are perch, walleye, bass, catfish and different pan fish. I'm within a 45 minute drive of several stocked lakes and about 15 minutes from a river launch. We also have a lot near the main lake at the Pymutuning Reservoir. Great walleye fishing. It's amazing that you and papaguitar are both familiar with my area. If you guys or anyone else are up this way give me a hollar and we'll see about catching us a fish fry and ending the day with some beers and guitars
