Welcome to Chordie. jd05. Lot's of good information. here, so feel free to add your comments and questions. I see that you have been reading some of the old "posts" as this one started back in July of last year. I do that as well. Why don't you go to the "Chat" section of this forum and tell us a little about yourself? It's a good place to meet the members and get to know us.

Congrat's, Ed. 41 years of marriage is a good thing. And just think of all the rewards that will be coming your way once the "new" kitchen is put together. Just a thought, go out tonight and get you a bucket of fried chicken, do a google search and find you a "fireplace" app for you cell phone, turn the kitchen lights way down low, place the cell phone with the "fireplace" app on the kitchen table right between them paper plates, pop the top on a nice box of wine - it don't anymore romantical than that. Enjoy.

Got outta the hospital yesterday afternoon. Cold with chance of rain tonight so the wife and I stayed in and done nothing. She did feed me a good meal, though. While in the hospital, 3 day's, I lost almost 10 pounds that was mostly fluid. Feel good, now, but plan on staying in and watching it rain, today.

Don't feel too bad, just a lotta fluid on my right lung. Not having as much breathing problems as I was and I able to sleep laying down, now. The doctor said yesterday evening that they were going to take another chest x-ray this morning and depending on what it shows I MIGHT be able to get outta here if I promise to stay home and outta the weather.  Sure hope the x-ray come back, good.

In mid December I went to M D Anderson Hospital for my 3 month check-up and was told I had some fluid on my lungs and the beginnings of phenumonia. Well, things just kept getting worse so now I'm in the hospital in my home town. Don't feel bad just very hard to breath with all the fluid. Having a lotta bloodwork done, test ran and so on. Also having issues with my crietion (sp) level due to my kidney fuction and since I only have the one left they are watching that closely. Looks like I'll be here for a few more days and will miss our New Year's party where my wife and I were to be  playing music with friends. That sucks. This phenumonia is a non-bactrial type that doesn't respond well to antibiotics, although they are giving them to me anyway. If any of ya'll are feeling generious please send me something to eat as the food here just ain't what I was getting at home.

Spam, fresh outta the can. No matter how you slice it, dice it, chop it or cook it, it's still hard to swaller.

TIGLJK, I so happen to have a Ibenez Artcore Hollowbody w/ a Peavy 158 amp that I would be willing to sell. It spends more time in the closet than being played. I'm more into the acoustic guitars and since I got the 12 string I just can't put it down. Only reason I'm thinking of selling is to get my grandson a 3/4 size acoustic along the lines of a GS Mini. If you wanna talk we can do so privately and I can send you some photo's to look at.

getting my 3 month check-up at M D Anderson Hospital in Houston, Tx. Got some good reports BUT was told that I have fluid on my lungs and "non-infectious" phenumonia. This is some of the side affects of the cancer medicine I'm taking so now I have to stop taking it for 2 to 3 weeks and let everything clear. Now I know why I've been feeling so bad. I suspected this since I've had a cough for a couple of months that just won't go away. I had phenumonia last year so I kinda know the systems. I take a flu shot every year and I took a phenumonia shot in 2012 (good for 5 years) but it is for a bactarial phenumonia and not what I have.
I have to be real careful since I've had my spleen removed and have a reduced immune system. Anyway, gonna be sitting here in the house for a few days, taking it easy, drinking plenty of fluids and trying to stay out of my wife's way. If she thinks I'm getting better she'll find something for me to do.

This is terrible!!!! As I was reading ya'lls reply to my post I suddenly got a mental picture of Zurf sitting down at his dinner table and he didn't have any nuts. Nor was there a carrot visible. I sure Zurf enjoyed his carrot and nuts while he was able to have them. I hope a double Bourbon will get this picture outta my mind. If not I'ma gonna have another double.

shelling pecans. Had a good year and ended up with 80 pounds of pecans, this year. Picking them up today from the place I carried them to be cracked so now I gotta shell them. This will take awhile and I'll end up with sore thumbs but just think about the pecan pie's, sweet potatoe bread, sweet potatoe casarole with pecans, apple pecan pie's, toasted pecans w/ brown sugar.................................................................

Year's ago, in what seems like a different lifetime now, I phished a lotta bass tournament. Had a few sponsers, even had a couple or 3 prostaff boats given to me to use. Won a good bit of money phishing but spent way more that I won. Trying to work, raise a family, phish tournaments and be competive just doesn't work so I gave up phishing the circuits and joined a couple of bass clubs at home. Done good, working outta town all the time interfered with that, then the health problems, forced medical retirement and sitting on my ass at home feeling sorry for myself. The only things I've done in the past 3 / 4 years is play my music, piddle in the garden and watch tv. So now I've made up my mind that I'm gonna start phishing, again. I can't hunt amymore as one of my meds makes me cough a lot and if I walk a lot I cough more. I can cough and phish. I'm restricted to lifting no more that 20 pounds due to hernia's (2) on my stomach directly under the scar from my cancer surgury so I will have to be careful. I am able to sit (stand) in a boat so that's what I'm gonna do. Even went back phishing yesterday afternoon. Phish was running a little smaller but did manage to catch 5 crappie from 3/4 to 1 1/4 pounds. Had a "bluebird day" and the phish was holding tight to the structure making it difficult to get to them in the back of the submerged  treetops. Gonna hold up a day or so, rest a little then hit em again. Also, I'm playing music with friends Friday night so I guess I gotta practice a little..

Well ya'll all know my health issues but I've decided that I can sit in the house and feel bad or I can sit in a boat and feel bad. I just feel better while phishing. TF, we don't get the cold that comes and stays like ya'll do but, in the past, I have phished on some brutally cold days and caught fish. Even went ice fishing one time and didn't like it - by the time we got a hole broke in the ice big enough to launch the boat we were just too tired to phish. Creel limits here are 50 phish (crappie) per day per person. When the bite is on 50 phish a day is very easy to come by and are some of the best eating you can have. We generally only keep enough to eat ourselves, maybe give a few to some neighbors who can't get out and release the rest. I plan on trying to make 3 or 2 days phishing this week, who wants to go wid me?

We got some good'uns here. Not unusal to get one 3 pounds or a little over. Went back this morning and caught an even dozen that weighed from 3/4 pounds to 2 pounds. Per our scale our biggest weighed 2.14 pounds, today, and we had 3 more that was real close to that size. Hard to fish with the wind blowing like it was today and the temp @ 37 degrees. We were phishing 1/16 oz rubber jigs in submerged treetops in 20 t0 28' water. All the phish we caught were suspended 12 to 14' deep. If I can I'll try to post some photo's. I'm open to carry any of ya'll phishing if'n you can get here.

Yesterday afternoon my son and I went crappie phishing and done pretty well. We caught about 25 or so and brought home 7 that run between 1 1/4 and 2 1/2 pounds for supper tonight. They are just before stacking up in the "tree tops" on the river and when they do it will be fast and furious phishing. Wish I could plan a fish fry for all ya'll.

Those mods, a good set of strings and a great set up will definately put a big ol' grin on yore face. Let us know how it sounds and put me down as #1 on the "borrow list".

Charlaton, welcome to Chordie. By all means ask for a discount - all that can happen is that they say no. Have CIF (CASH IN FIST) and be ready to make the deal right then. Rule of thumb would be tp offer around 10% less but be ready to settle for 5%. If they don't won't to deal with a discount then ask for "extra's". A new set of strings, a set-up, capo, shoulder strap, an extra set of strings - these are all "must have" items with any new guitar and getting one or more or them "free" could be the same as getting a discount. Again, cash speaks in a loud voice. Have your mind ready to make the purchase, have a price in mind that you are willing to pay, be polite and respectful but be ready to walk away if your offer is not accepted. BUT - never offer a "low ball" price that could be  considered a insult. Do a little homework and find out what other places are selling the same item for, that way you will know the value of that item.

I did finally did get around to changing out my bridge pins on my K Yairi D52 12 string to a new set of ebony pins. This guitar is a 1989 model that I bought used this year and the bridge pins were in very bad shape the 1st time I changed strings. I bought a new set of pins, which my darling wife accidently threw away, so I had to get another set. When I changed out the pins I also put a new set of Earthwood Light strings. I was pleasantly suprised the 1st time I strummed the guitar after tuning the new strings - the tone and sound was everything I hoped it would be. My old strings were only about a month old and still sounded good but with the new strings and new pins the guitar sounded much better.
