ZURF, I wrote a topic about sleep. Despite all good advises and feelings, it is horrible. Worse is going to bed knowing that you "can't sleep"
I take my medication daily and tonight was the first "full 8 h sleep"

Topic: Zurf sleepless?!! ATTENTION (0 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
When I was down under, I lost my pills for pain & sleep ===> 10 CONSECUTIVE NIGHTS without sleep. BUT I DO NOT HAVE STRESS, I am retired, 365 days a year.
RESULT: The day I was back from NZ, ===> hospital with hallucinations, paranoia, illusions and so realistic.
IT IS BETTER TO ASK A PILL TO HELP YOU FALL ASLEEP (like Zolpidem or Zopiclone)THAN NO SLEEP.
The more you think the worse it gets.
HOLD STRONG,

Chordians, I had my car crash on 09/02/2000, september, aquaplaning and transferred in critical condition, surviving 2 cardiac arrests
Since 5 year (49 years old) I had to stop working, very good insured but I feel like a ZERO, I can't even play properly because of a nerve in my left hand, taking chords???!!!It was weird down under and 5 years are gone, lost my job, my passion, my girl, my "socializing" never alone, jokes like taking 2 lobsters in a resto and see which lobster would win the race. But I can't live with memories I just try to find some self-esteem, self-respect. The past is irreversible, I can't go back in time, and should I have been a better person? I doubt so.
Here, I feel like home, there is no home like chordie-home
This not a cry for help, I feel fine, financial, I lost 25kg in 3 months, (from 105kg-->80kg), I have 25kg less to carry, so I can walk now without crouches for a few moments, but there is emptiness in my live.
Even guitar, probably surgery to fix the nerve, life sucks sometimes and I've got my troubles and you've got yours (isn't that a song title?)
If you feel lousy, mail me.

PADDO'S Lena, paddo's in New Zealand. I wrote 50 poems, I didn't sleep 10 nights on a row, I started to be paranoid, with hallucinations, so back home = back hospital.

NELA, define good sound? For you, the audience? When you play, your amp is behind you.
I have a Marshall AS100D acoustic, but more used as electric amp.
The price is not relevant but if you look and listen to a 1000 - 3000$ el - ac, I can't tell you the difference. A nice trick is let the seller play before decision.

If you listen when it's quiet you hear a sound in your intestinal regio.
REASON: There are bands formed by microbes and one in particular called the "bug"with E(milio)COLI on drums ST(even)REPTOCOCCUS bas guitar, S. TAPHYLOCOC, and a great guitar player called SAL MONELLA (He was from Italy), COLI from Spain.
After rehearsing their songs, they talk, drink and practise. Emilio COLI look at his watch and sais: boys I have to leave now, see you.
10 minutes later Emilio Coli is back. What happened Emilio? all 3 together, he answers I missed the 10 'o clock train.

- Paul Jones
- John 'Bonzo' Bonham

Topic: ACOUSTIC versus ELECTRO-ACOUSTIC the pros and the cons (17 replies, posted in Acoustic)
I can't help it, when I hear electro-acoustic guitars, they all sound similar, a cheap epiphone will not sound better than a gibson
What is my problem?
1) The warm acoustic sound like the young Dylan or Donovan
2) I don't like to drill a hole in one of my collection.
3) I do have a Martin D1 El-Ac, "mediocre"
4) I try to work with 2 good old microphones, 1 near the hole, the other on the 3°fret counting from the hole.
Am I alone, who is PRO, who is CONTRA?

As seen on TV, a (grey-white) Jimmy Page showed how he used that famous effect, like the sound came out of a box, and with his Gibson Les Paul: amazing "zoom" sound or sustain, but sustain sounds different.
Anybody an idea?

My nightmare is a "STRING-O-PHOBIA"since 30 years ago, while tuning my guitar a string broke and right into my face.
I am not able, today, to put strings in a proper way.

Hi PIXIE, it is now proven that it is a nerve "squeezed" in my elbow, probably while falling asleep in front of my PC.
ADVISE:
1) REST (already 5 months)
1a) There is progression, in stead of 3 fingers (pink ring and middlefinger=50%, it's now ring finger with 50% not working.
2) SURGERY

Topic: WHERE did you start playing guitar or another instrument (4 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
- IN CHURCH. is an answer that pops up constantly.
As EUROPEAN, I can't imagine how this works: gospel (root god-spell), or a band with drum, guitar, bass and other instruments. DO YOU NEED TO PLAY CERTAIN SONGS or are you free to sing your own stuff?
- CHRISTMAS TREE: A TURKEY (no offense for people living there) stuffed with a guitar and tied with the strings?
- ON THE STREET
- WITH FRIENDS (as I did), like you know 3 chords E - G - A, and your friend plays also D and Em

In the past Zurf, in the past, THERE IS OUR YOUTH, but I feel very young for being 54y old.
NO GREY HAIR, but a pepper & salt beard.
This a thread for old far**like us.
GREAT BANDS, USING PROGRESSIVE "MATERIAL" like a MELLOTRON and a (MINI)MOOG was not seen before.
Pioneers were The Moody Blues, Atomic Rooster, even Pink Floyd.
MY POINT IS STILL THOSE BANDS HAVE A LOT MORE ALBUMS THAN TODAY'S BANDS. How & why?
