Home sweet home... New York Welcomed us a few hours ago with high gas prices, high cigarette prices, and unreasonably high temperatures.  This weekend was the best I've had in a LOOONG time!  The kids were thrilled to see us though, so it was worth coming home.

This weekend was fantastic!  Zurf, you missed my line to Dirty Ed (which I'm hoping he includes in one of his awesome songs one day), "My glass is empty and my bladder's full".  I am glad that the cow didn't go to waste, everyone seemed to have full belly's when they went to bed.  Folks, you missed out on a fantastic time.  While Zurf and NormtheGuitar (and fishing friends) were out on the river, Jim and I held down camp with lunch and Dirty Ed kept the conversations going.  I could listen to his stories all day.

I have a TON of pictures as well as some sound recordings from the campfire taken with my Zoom Recorder.  I'll be posting up some pictures here shortly.

By the way, I think Jim has been quite inspired.  He couldn't get to his guitar fast enough when we got home and he's sitting here playing now while I'm typing.  I hope he keeps it up and can play a bit more the next time to get past the nerve slump.  Truly, Chordians are The BEST!

We left the house this morning and went straight to the Martin Factory for our FREE tour (in PA).  it was... A W E S O M E!!!!  As a "tour gift" everyone received a little "piece of Martin"  The wood cut out from the sound holes are all laser etched with the Martin Logo, year, and some other info which is pretty cool (I'm planning to stain and varnish mine and keep it forever).  Then we headed on further south, randomly found a tiny little barbeque place for dinner which turned out to be, in my husband's words, "Better than any BBQ" he's ever had (between NY and California!!) and then decided to finally stop when we hit Virginia.  There's no way we were going to set up camp this evening.  So, here I sit in a King size bed after relaxing in our in room jacuzzi tub using my laptop.  I'm looking forward to the weekend, but I'm going to completely enjoy tonight's sleep in this cozy bed before the weekend in a tent.

I am looking forward to meeting everyone and if there's any wifi and I have time while the men are fishing I'll post up some pics... otherwise, see the rest of you all Monday!  Have a GREAT WEEKEND CHORDIANS!!!!  smile

I'll be there all weekend for you guys bringing wives.  I camp just fine, but I don't care to fish.  This is my peaceful relaxation weekend away from the kids... I don't care if there's a few bugs, and I'm extra happy there's going to be more than a few guitars.  Bring the ladies along and let them know I brought my hot pink nail polish.  LOL!

Tops and Toots, We'll miss you!!!!!  I was really hoping you two would make it sad  --- The weather forecast has only gotten BETTER for the weekend with only a 10% chance of rain now!  We'll be leaving home in a few hours and heading toward the Martin Factory.  We'll see those of you at camp sometime tomorrow morning.  smile  Hope you can make it DM!

fourth or fifth box down on the right, look for the little auto scroll image
http://www.chordimages.com/images/scroll.gif

On the right, third from the bottom you'll get the option to add a song to your current songbook, change books, or remove it if it's already in your songbook.  To create a new book you have to first go to the "My Songbook" tab.

I agree with Pete, if you save it in your songbook AFTER you've transposed it, when you pull it up again FROM your songbook, it should pop up as you had saved it.  That doesn't always work if you're making a songbook public or linking to a song however.

Good suggestion Roger!  Since I'm having a similar problem, I thought I'd chime in here that I checked my string height and had sighted down the neck as Pix suggested.  Sure enough, the neck had some amazing curve to it.  I adjusted my truss rod (ever so gently a little at a time) and then pulled the saddle out again and filed that down a bit more.  Then, I changed to lighter strings.  My buzzing seems to have subsided SOME.  I think what's left is ABSOLUTELY technique and I'm going to play around with my husband's guitar to day to see if I'm getting the same sounds.  I think I'm quite lazy when I'm playing.  I do think it is entirely possible that my saddle is/was slightly uneven too.

Bill, I feel your pain.  I'm heading to the Martin Guitar factory for a visit tomorrow and quite tempted to fall in love with one and give away this one.  LOL!

oooo... I didn't notice that Russell, because I don't ever log out.  Good to know though... anyone else see anything weird?

my buzzing seems to be when I'm fretting... I feel like I have to fret the strings harder now than I did before (or be more careful to have my fingers placed right AT the frets... but then, maybe a string change could help this issue too, I think I'll try that today).  I've wondered if maybe the saddle is just too high but the strings don't LOOK like they're far away from the fretboard and I did measure everything when I replaced the saddle.

Toots... your suggestion makes sense.  I'll keep that in mind for when I'm playing w/o capo

Steelstrings... of course I can't answer, but I can comment on what I've heard which is... when using a capo a LOT (like I do) you'll wear the nut down faster.  This is primarily why I didn't bother changing the nut when I did the saddle and pins.

Hannah, Beth, lilwing, rebel.... WELCOME BACK TO CHORDIE!  I want to say I recall reading a post or two from the handle "lilwing" ... it'll be nice to see another gal posting a bit more in here.  Don't be a stranger!  smile

I use Chrome as my primary default browser and am not having any problems.  In fact, I think things look BETTER and saw there are some new features (just show chords, just show lyrics)... scroll works fine.  It's possible your complaint came in during the time while the admin was on updating the site yesterday for iPad... check things out again and let us know if your issues have been resolved.

And as topdown says, Welcome to the chordie forum, we appreciate your valuable contributions.

some of the features on the top right margin were recently disabled to allow better iPad support.  Other than that, I think everything's the same.  What is it exactly that you're missing out on Wobbly Bob?

Interesting... ever since I changed my saddle it seems my B string is too low and "buzzing" a bit.  It's quite annoying... and I almost ALWAYS use a capo so I'm sure that has a LOT to do with it.  I think the whole nut slot being worn makes a lot of sense in my situation (or it could be the compensated saddle)... so I'd listen to Pix as it sounds like he may be on the right track!

I guess it's "IN" not "IS" ... couldn't find much other than lyrics, and a youtube video here:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7CSPKjBxLfg

Perhaps another one of our fantasticly talented members can figure it out for you if you're still searching?

Normtheguitar has landed safely, was picked up, and after a couple of beers at a pub on the way home, fed a "full-immersion American" dinner of grilled chicken, asparagus, fresh corn on the cob and watermelon for dessert.  My wife coined that phrase "full immersion American" and I rather like it.

I don't know what we're off to do tomorrow, but we'll have some fun.  I love showing off my adopted home town, so we'll find some sort of trouble to get into I'm sure.

There was a tremendous thunderstorm with ferocious winds this evening.  It dropped the temperature twenty degrees (though it doesn't feel like it because it raised the humidity a billion percent).  Guitarpix and wife were supposed to arrive today and set up camp.  I hope they had their tent raised and staked down before the winds blew.  The rest of the week is predicted to be lovely.  Lucky Pix!  The Shenandoah usually fishes well on a rise.  It stirs up the bottom sediment, which contains a lot of nummy little insects the fish like to eat.

YAY!  I'm glad he made it in safely and was given a "full immersion American" dinner... I like the phrase too!  You'll have to take him to a real honkey-tonk bar now and let him try his hand at driving on the right side of the road in some overly large sized pick up truck or SUV to get the rest of the immersion complete!  lol

Wow DE... you sure DO have a lot of supplies!  Jim and I only go camping once a year (if that), so we're quite the minimalists.  A tent that just fits the blow up mattress, a couple tarps, some rope, garbage bags, chairs, food, flashlight, percolator, and the little coleman charcoal grill.  I do wish we had a larger tent, but it seems silly to spend money on something bigger when we only use it once a year.  We do actually have a canoe, but I think Jim's only used it once or twice.  I've never been in it.

Thanks for the tip on bagging the guitar Pix!  I'll be sure to remember to grab a few of the larger garbage bags along with smaller ones.  I've tried to stay away from looking at the forecast for the weekend since those can always change in a matter of a few days.  Jim and I survived an amazing downpour last year by just draping the tarp over the tent at night.  All we had to contend with really was the moisture build up inside.

Oh BTW... we'll be leaving Thursday and stopping at the Martin Factory on the way.  Jim keeps mentioning how awesome it would be if we find a low cost blemished model while there.  We'll probably spend WAY too much time there to make it to camp before dark, so we're likely going to grab a motel somewhere in southern PA and then get to camp Friday morning.  I am IMPATIENT waiting this out... have made my lists of things to bring/buy and am starting to get everything together.  Sooooo excited, and I can't wait to meet everyone in person!  smile

I guess it's pretty obvious that I've never fished in a river.  LOL!  The biggest catfish I've ever seen weren't much bigger than that 12lb carp I was talking about (although I'll bet they weighed a little bit more).  My daddy always took me out in a rowboat on Oneida Lake.  I've heard rumers that there's some pretty large sturgin in there, although I'm not so sure about that.  I haven't fished since I was under 16 though, my husband prefers to fish the streams around with the kids.  They're usually lucky if they catch a few sunnies!

I have never in my wildest dreams imagined a 40 pound catfish!  HOLY COW!  That is amazing, but more amazing is the fact that you were able to catch him on a 10lb line!  I once caught a 12 pound carp by the tail on a 10lb line (in fact, using a kiddie zebco... of course I was 10 years old) and THAT was quite an experience.  I am just in awe at that fish you have.  Nice canoe too!

good to see ya Bushy!  2 months of not playing ACK!  I would absolutely be looking into a travel guitar of some sort or another, especially if hotels and motels are also part of your travel.  I'd go crazy without any of the comforts of home along .

I got excited about getting driven around in the Grand Torino ... until I did 30 seconds of research and read this, "The Mod Squad drove around in a 1960 station wagon dubbed "Woody," until it was driven off a cliff in the second season."

Oh no!  Although I think I could pretend to act like a skinny tall blonde teen runaway with mother prostitute turned undercover narcotics officer, I'm not so sure I could be seen in a 1960's station wagon!  LMAO!
