http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FLgq5VPRT6k  (Justin guitar-very good also)

ONe of my favorite Quotes form Pete Townsend which I cannot remember correctly but is something along the lines of
"Thoes who have nothing in common can usually find happiness in the love of rock music"

I peeled it from the book Before I get old.  I just can not find it on the net correctly.

Any of the "originals" by TSO.  They just bore the hell out of me.

I do like the versions of the standards that they do. (their version of Carrol of the bells simply kicks butt)

back in the 80's the primary metal guitars were Charvels / Jacksons (hence Sharvel Jackson guitars),and Kramers along with the Gibsons and Fenders.  what finish did you get?   Looks like a great guitar. congrats. ( what amp you pushing it through and how nasty have you diled it in for?  If you want some 80's nasty you gotta hit a PRO CO RATT in the lineup. lol  )  The biggest endorser was and still is Warren Demartini from RATT.

ENJOY

that is something that has always been a hard one for me also, I just go with what feels good.  playing along with a song on youtube helps, you can watch and see what the performer is doing. Maybe this will help also https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8UhdwnsckJ8

I would suggest that your line 6 will be fine once you get fimiliar with it. all I have are electric amps and run my acoustics through them all the time.  My guitars do not have on bd electrics or eq.  what I find really nice is clean like Jerome said, with a hint of reverb and chorus.  flange  sounds real good too.

Better than that just get a outdoor 10x8 ready made shed. one of the nice ones. run electricty, insulation, dry wall, finish out how you like, put in a window unit for summer and a ceramic heater for winter.  best little studio and it can move when you do.  (I am working on one of these myself.)  this is just an example.  http://www.lowes.com/pd_383725-57658-18 … facetInfo=

I will say what the rest have as to finding some songs to jam to. What I alsway go back to are simple 3 - 4 chord basic jams that can be played barred or open.  Dont worry if its an electric, I am 180 out from most and say learn electric and then go acoustic.  It is easier to play and more fun on the amp, I also like the acoustic but it was easier to learn how to move around on the electric and then work out the acoustic stuff.   Her are a few songs to play, even without the lead, you can do alot by different strum patterns and accents.  open or barred or combine the two.

Stepping Stone by the Monkeys:
(A lot of fun to jam on) E (open) G (barred) A(open or barr across second fret) C (actually a C5,  2 or 3 finger barr chord)

All along the Watchtower -( Dylan & Hendrix) Am G F G Am (the way I learned it)
and in Bm  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7bg4omAj5Qc

Hey Joe (basic w/ out the intro) C G D A E
and a lesson on it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4ceXyiZ_yL4

Rock in the USA (John Melloncamp) / What I like about you (The Romantics) / Cherrie cherrie(Neil Diamond)  E A D A Listen for the changes.

As always You Tube is a gereat resource.

I have never seen the Marley drink,, but have tried Purple stuff, http://www.mypurplestuff.com/

I thought it was ok, drank it on my way home so that I could get to sleep b4 5 am.  I have treid the chamomile tea and Melitonin, Which is in Purple stuff.
In kids What did they expect?? its a relaxation and sleep aid? "HEY LETS DRINK THIS B4 MATH AND SOCIAL STUDIES!"  The report didnt say it but I'm willing to bet a pack of guitar strings most of the sick ones had not eaten very well or eaten junk food (pack of chips) and then slugged one of these drinks down. I know around here they only have 40 min +/- to get lunch and get to class.
oh well as noted ^  Its not ment for kids.  But if they are sick  one of the first home remedies  in Tx is  Manzanilla Tea---AKA  chamomile,, but its sipped, not slugged.

Stryper is still out there and i think they have gone back to their roots.  Maybe he can rekendel his relationship with them.  Saw a live show from Japan from 2011 or may have been more recent.

There are a few rock bands out there that may be considered "Christian" but only as far as the core beliefs go. Chevelle, as mentioned prior, is one of them. I was always under the impression that Kansas was a "Christian" band. Creed is probably the more well-known recent band that espoused "Christian" values...until Scott Stapp backslid.

My firefighter is a cousin of the lead singer of Stryper. When he was 15 (1986 or 87) he went with Stryper as they toured Japan. He told me that, at the time, Stryper acted very un-Christian while on tour.

I knew the former lead guitarist of Stryper.  He left the band over their behavior even though financially it cost him dearly to do so.

Was that when they toured with Motley Crue?  ON that toure they really got into being rock stars.  I cant say I would blame them,,, its a one time shot at being a star, better live it!  just dont hide it.

As a matter of fact the whole direction issue was what broke up Kansas.  a few wanted to go the church rt, and the others the Arena Rock Rt.  My vote would have been with Arena Rock.  The clash has a similar dissent.  Arena rock (combat rock album) vs more of the reggae punk.  Small audiance V/s Big sales.

+1 on that. My older son is 12 about to be 13 and he is all hormones and attitude.  Thinks he should have the freedome my 17 yr old daughter has.  Trying to lie about stuff and getting caught and then open definace and a Battle of wills.  He pushes my buttons every chance he gets unless he wants something. (good thing he still looks innocent while sleeping!)

Yesterday (Sunday the 2nd)  I was sitting in the Jr. Highschool Gym while my son had backet ball pratice for his youth legue.  I see a kid about 13 or 14 walk in with his mom and pop carying a acoustic.  I keep watching my son, but as I hear him playing Marcie Playground's sex and candy,
( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iH3tqKZewa8 ) Im pretty impressed.  Mainly cause he is too young to have known about this song except from his parents.  After listening to him a few more min, I asked him if he knew how to play All along the Watch tower  and Hey Joe. He said no, I said I can teach you in 5 min.  It was cool.  We sat on the bleachers and I showed him how to play the rythm for the two songs (which he had never heard) taught him the Pentatonic scale, which he was using in the marcy playground song and didnt know what it was) and showed him barr chord tricks and root 5ths, and taught him some finger excersizes.  He was like a sponge. just absorbing it like crazy.  It felt good to be able to show the kid things he didnt know.  He is teaching himself primarily from you tube and learning from his  cowboy church band.

He is only here every 2 weeks, So I told him I would be sure to remember to bring my guitar and Ill show him some more stuff.

Just thought Idd share.
