but if you made a countr song and made it really heavy rock, it might turn out quite good

I think people in bands sould experiment as much as possible, if it doesnt turn out then no harm, no one but yourselves heard it.

indie music as far as I am led to believe is rock music that does not get mainstream airplay on radio. Or thats what it was before ut so many "indie" bands are in the charts now

there was a haevy rock band ( stinger?? ) that were christian rock band, Not quite too sure about the name but they wore yellow stripy costumes and looked like a bunch of ...........@%^%^&%^&%^&
I do not care too much for christian bands, I think  i willlabel myself an atheist musician if they can label themselves, lol

sorry Doc.
BUT
It might be a close call with Status quo and the stones. The stones formed in 1962. still three original mambers which is better than status quo achieved since they split in the early 80's then reformed with only two original members.

The rolling stones are noted as the longest band going today, so they must beat quo

TRUE OR FALSE: I heard and read that the song "SATISFACTION" by the ROLLING STONES, was originally a ballad (like they used to write at that time, Ruby Tuesday, Lady Jane), but that a producer, I'm not sure, changed it in an up tempo song, a rock song, as we all know today.

Doc,

i can answer this knowing I m answering correctly.

No, it was never a ballad nor suppose to be one. I have an interview with Keef. He played it the way they first wrote it on an acoustic guitar. It was a very bluesy tune, nothing like the electric distorted uitar sound that it got recorded as.
He laughed after he played part of it and said that is how they first done it, then the record company producer produced it to the sound it has.
without the tallents of record producers we would not hear most songs as we hear them. But then I do like to hear the raw original way a song was first thought up of, but without me seeing that interview I would be none the wiser to satisfaction.

Also ( a bit of subject but on the subject of demos), DAvid Bowie's demo of ziggy just proves it can sound so bad yet so good, then give it to the hands of a producer and ye have a hit.

well,
I can see why people would want just lyrics.
I think I might even use this function i added on certain songs.

But other times I willjust go in to edit a song then copy and paste into my microsoft word and then print it out.

hmmm.
I am undecided now!!. I would save me doing all this copying and pasting.

Ok, I am for it

What are you using to plug your guitar and mic into your computer?

I am using a pzm mic.
but my mate uses this program wit han electric guitar and he plugs his efeects proccessor stright into the computer with the guitar as well, sometimes just pluge the giutar straight in the pc, but the microphone is just straight into your microphone jack.

turn everything down to start wit.
this is why I say might be better upgrading soundcard. But I am doing fine with my built in original soundcard.

I tried thios song not that long ago and found it pretty difficult to keep the rythum and sing.

i should give it another go i tihnk as it is a superb song for acoustic guitar.

hi mark and welcome to chordie

You can get round this by creating your own songbook.
once you have songs in your songbook you can go t the list and click on edit. you will then have a screen to do what you like to the song ( but only changes what is in your songbook)
you can then take the chords out leaving you with only the lyrics.

hope that helps

hi anto and welcome

if you look at the tab it shows thesix strings. the top string being the high E, as in the thinnest string.
each number denotes what fret is getting played. If you see the number 0 that means the string is played open.
Sometimes on tab it shows a chord too, so if it looks like a chord just hold it down, and tab the notes.

-----o------------
--------2-----------
---1---------3---
-------------------
---------------------
--------------------
so this shows  first fret on the G string getting played, then the high E getting played open the n2nd fret on the B string then 3rd fret on the G string

hope that helps

small world? no it is very big but isnt it amazing how people know people that know people?
It is Middleton that my mate lives in so no doubt he wil know who you know, or at least his fiance, Liz, Canny remember her surname though, lol, he is called Royce and is scottish.
he has been telling me to go to visit him for ages now but it is hard to find time when i have money and can get away. I went a few times to visit him in Dublin when he stayed there.

Right, I looked up that guy, I liked his songs he has o myspace. I also noticed he is doing a gig to commemorate the folk singer Ian Davison and 50 yeas of songwriting and playing, the same guy I met 2 weeks ago in a pub and my wife met last week in another pub. He also has a few songs online. I just learned one of them" coming home to glasgow"  http://www.iandavisonsongs.co.uk/

if I ever pop over on a ryan air cheap flight, I will let ye know and I will bring my guitar, tamborine, jew harp, uke and a tom ( as in a drum)

aaahhh,
only allowed to be replaced if died?
then I have to take away SLF, Stones,
chili peppers guitarist left but is back ith them, ac/dc changed their drummer too and he was away for years but he is back wit hthem as far as i know and also the original bassist played with them a few years ago when i went to see them.

this is a harder question than I originally thought.

Nope, cant say I have heard of him O.D ( short for old doll, lol)

Yer probably right about straining my vocal cords, thats why I have this damn nodule growing now, lol.
But at least they can zap me with a laser gun and get rid of it. I still have not heard from these voice training people. Thas been three weeks they have had to get in touch and nothing.

I am going try sticking to one of my books for singing/playing. My folk book, at least I should not strain too much.
I am also going thru all my books to see if I can sing in a different key that feel better to sing. I am trying all songs with capo, without capo, transpoing from C's to G's and G's to C's and C' to D's.
It is annoying my mate a bit I think but he is not the one singing my sangs so tough!!

Ken

p.s. O.D do you know how to say "get it up ye" in gaelic? I know there is a difference with irish and scottish gaelic but either is fine, lol ( and it is not to be aimed at yourself, lol)

yep aerosmith is truelly one of the great survivors of rock for going that long 1967? 68? I have their first album and apart from the production on it, the album is timeless.

also there is

Rolling stones ( early 60's)
ac/dc  ( early - mid 70's)
the who ( early 60's) ( even though there are only two left)
stiff little fingers ( (1977)
rem ( early 80's)
motorhead
red hot chili peppers (early 80's)
eric clapton ( mid 60's)

ha ha, but what if their natural singing voice has an american twag sound to it, even if they have a strong german accent?

is that ok? lol

or doll, are you talking about people that deliberatly ut on an accent to sing with? this I still see nothing wrong, unless you are trying to sound like johnny cash.
I had better stop trying to do Johnny's voice lol like james says, it just doent work.

I agree chat corner can be used for this, or even in bands and artists which is where I have posted a few comments on new albums like The Who's latest and Jake burns latest.

Since chat corner is very busy I wouldthink the more appropriate place would be in bands and artists, but either to me is fine.
I dont see a need for yet another section.

I think Poalo Nutini is a really good singer BUT, he sounds jamacian, lol, and he only comes from a few miles away from me.
I downloaded his album but I dont really like it that much. I do like that new shoes song but gets a bit edious after a while, and in thatsong I think he sounds australian, lol

I can do a good irish accent to, goes well with the irish songs I do,lol
