Not bad... Wasn't his son originally going to play bass?? Seems like I remember reading that in one of my older guitar mags... Maybe that was another project he was working on several months back...

I believe you're thinking of Wolfgang (Eddie's son) playing bass for the reconfigured Van Halen.

Nothing special, but what can you expect from a 3 minute appearance. Kinda reminded me of Sammy solo before Van Hagar stuff (which is not a bad thing). I thought it was cool that Satriani gave Conan his guit. As I understand it, Conan is a player and collector. Pretty cool.

Coming on now - may be interesting. The newest "supergroup".

Michael Anthony (bass), Sammy Hagar (vocals),
Joe Satriani (guitar), Chad Smith (drums).

Thanks folks - all great ideas. Beach Boys - so obvious how could I have missed that? Will definitely add some to the songbook.  Thanks NELA - I'd heard Buffet's version of that, certainly easy enough.

Loved the vids TubaT - At Least Ya Done Me and S.P.O.R.E. especially - Also loved the Jello Shot tune - your gigs seem like a blast!

Here's the song Ozy - called simply enough "Mother Nature"

No luck with finding chords though.

Next month several family members are chipping in and renting this killer ocean front house on Hatteras:

http://www.outerbeaches.com/OuterBanks/ … Blessings/

There will be 25+ including my brother's and sister's family, aunt and uncle as well as all my cousins (and their kids) from my mother's side. I haven't seen many of them in a long time and although I'm leery about spending such a long time in a single house with so many people, I'm sure we'll have a great time. I've got dibs on one of the downstairs bedrooms, my uncle has the other - we've been known to watch the sunrise on many beer drinking evenings, so the little ones will all be upstairs.

So anyway, the crowd will range in age from real youngsters (3 or 4 years old) to pushing 60. I'm looking for some suggestions for sing-a-long beach tunes that might appeal to the entire crowd. I've got some Buffett, Marley, and the required Otis Redding in my songbook already. Any other suggestions?

Toney - Whats popular on your pool side afternoon gigs?

Tubatooter - Would love some links (if you've got any) to some of the more adult appropriate fun songs that could be played later in the evenings. Email chords and lyrics if that's at all possible!

I see no useful purpose to this thread other than bashing some pop artist. I have heard of them, but never actually heard them, so I have no opinion.

Come on kids, didn't you mother teach you "if you can't say anything nice..."

Hi cemor and welcome to chordie. Not sure what kind of stuff you are looking for, but here's a few links that might be helpful.

Fingerstyle basic lessons (near the bottom of the page):

http://justinguitar.com/en/TE-000-Technique.php

A ton of songs can be played both by strumming or fingerstyle. Folk Artists like John Prine, Simon and Garfunkle, Bob Dylan, etc work especially well. Here's a link to a site that has tabs specifically formatted for fingerstyle:

Hope that helped!

LOL - What I want to know is which one are you Pix? Angel Kisses or Elf Girl?

I believe we have a shy user who, instead of posting his question here in the forum, sent it to me via email. As I believe he will get a more educated response from the vast array of experienced guitar players than I could ever offer, I have posted his question below:

I just discovered this.  I had been using a capo but the pitch was really weird, especially on the smaller strings.  Like, Take it Easy by the Eagles. Some high tones for my voice.  How far do you take it down to keep the songs integrity or doesn't it matter?
Thanks,
Greg

Welcome to the forum Greg - Don't be shy, all the folks here are real helpful and friendly.

Man - I love Carter Beauford on the drums - Reminds me of Keith Moon and Stewart Copeland in a way - All Fantabolous drummers with so much energy and you can tell they all love playing. Looks like they are having a blast and prefer being behind their kits than anywhere else. Carter is always smiling. Great stuff.

I missed the show last night, but it is available of hulu for those interested. I've been watching parts of it all day.

http://www.hulu.com/watch/75477/dave-ma … on-theatre

I've also seen the DMB several times and it is always a great show. I'd love to see Dave with Tim on one of their acoustic tours - the last one in my area sold out in 5 minutes.

I didn't care for the last few DMB albums as much as his earlier stuff, but I like what I've heard from his new album.

Welcome to Chordie Bonzodude.

Please read the FAQ under the resources tab. Excerpt:

I have transcribed a song that I would like to add to Chordie. How do I do that?
Chordie does not host any songs. It finds and formats songs located elsewhere on the Internet.

I suffer from cluster headaches.  If you don't know what they are, look it up.  They are terrible.

bensonp - I've suffered with clusters for years. They seem to be getting better as I age (less frequent anyway), but I used to get them every day several years ago. Mine only lasted 30 or 45 minutes each and seemed to trigger in changes in the environment, temperature, humidity, etc. Debilitating, lie in the dark wanting to squeeze your head off kind of pain.

Anyway, the best treatment for me seemed to be a combination of hot / cold masks - soak a towel in water then put it in the microwave for 45 seconds, then wrap a bunch of ice in another towel. Rotating these on the most painful areas (always behind my right eye) seemed to lessen the pain.

Another thing that helped this past winter when I was staying in a cabin with electric heat was the use of a humidifier.

Best of luck to you buddy, I feel your pain.

Hi pr and welcome to the forum.

Are you using the print preview button (the little printer icon on the right side of the song page)?

If so, you can choose to place the chord grids right, bottom, or no grids at all. My guess is that it is on no grids, change that and it should fix your issue.

I always heard the difference was what you wear.

If you play in a suit and tie, it's a violin. Bluejeans it's a fiddle.

Thanks Toney and Kenny

Just got back from the game - and yes, the tailgating was the best part today. Tuna steak sandwiches have been on the menu most games, but today it was beer brats. Good stuff. We usually arrive 4 hours before game time and enjoy the afternoon with friends, good eats and good drinks.

I'll be at the game Tuesday, probably the last of the season. The Canes have hung in there against more talented opponents by playing with a lot of heart and great goal tending. Cam has absolutely stolen a few games in each of the previous 2 series, but seems to have lost it against the Pens. After winning the cup in '06 then missing the playoffs the past 2 years, no matter what happens, I consider this year a success.
