Yuppers Jerry... that's the way most of us do it.  Well, either that or we turn the song into something entirely different!  LOL!

I was scared that day, and for a while afterward.

I know that since then, I have been less career focused, and more focused on doing things that are meaningful in a personal sense (either to me or for people who matter to me).  Further, I spent some time learning about Islam.  I do not adhere to that faith, but I cannot square what those men did with what Islam seems to stand for.  What changes has it made for you?

I agree, and have spoken to some people that do adhere to the faith and do disagree with what those men did as well.  In fact, it's rather similar to the many "strong Christians" that bombed abortion clinics years ago... we all know how NOT Christian that truly is!

For me, well... it's made me pay a WHOLE LOT more attention to exactly WHERE my husband was working each day.  For a few minutes, I thought he was in NYC that day and had no clue where in NYC he was... luckily before I went into full panic mode I remembered him saying that he was going to Albany instead and then back to NYC the week after.  Unfortunately I didn't know if he was anywhere near the NY Capitol Building and was worried about that next.  I caught the second plane hitting live on TV and won't ever forget the fear in the voice of the broadcaster as he didn't even understand what we were witnessing at the moment.

I kiss everyone goodbye when they leave for a trip... even if it means waking up at 3AM because that's when they are leaving!

Welcome to Chordie Jerry... as it's been said, we've all been there or are currently there and there are no dumb questions.  I joined this site on day two or three of my attempt to learn the guitar, and everyone has been quite kind and helpful, AND I'm still here!  LOL!  We look forward to your posts!!

Amy

There's a list of songs here... though I think only lyrics are on the site, and I've no clue how accurate this list is... but perhaps it will give you a place to start to begin looking for chords?  Good luck!

There is a chordie group on FB (or at least there was at one point) ... but I don't think very many people post to it very often.  On the other hand, many of the regular posters here are individually on FB!  smile

Well, since it doesn't look like anyone's found an entire songbook of them for you, here's one that I know... and it was often sang to me as a lullabye (by my vietnam era Dad... who's mother sang it to him)

WOW Amy, I would never admit that!!!!  You were probly cool at the time but now it's just funny!

It makes for good story telling... everyone starts talking about all the concerts they went to and I start out with how I went to this one when I wasn't quite a teenager yet... in limo... how awesome it was, how cool we were... and then break out that it was them.  LOL!  Sad part is, I haven't been to many concerts... them, Billy Joel, 4 non-blondes... and... well... that's about it cuz I became a mom at 19 and didn't live a whole lot.  THAT is the sadder part.  I SEE a few concerts in my future now that my son is old enough to babysit his little sisters!  smile

LOVE LaBamba!  I'll have to check that out along with Shake it up TOOTS!

Hi there... try some of the suggestions in this thread:  http://www.chordie.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=17783

It seems with some of the recent behind the scenes changes by our admin a few people have been  having issues.  If none of the suggestions solve your problem, go ahead and post on that thread with what operating system and browser you are using and hopefully as soon as our admin can get a chance he can figure out what needs to be changed so that ALL users are no longer having problems!  smile  BTW... welcome to the forums!!

Hi, I sang along and played the one in G from cowboy lyrics as well as looked up some tutorials on youtube.  I'd just use a Bm instead of what they put on there for the Bm4 (plus, I can't do barre chords... my index finger hates them, but I can fake a Bm just fine).  smile  Have fun!!!

Katy Perry - I kissed a girl

Z - the first concert I ever went to (in a limo and all) was Milli Vanilli ... how's that for something to "be proud of"?  LOL!

i agree with the above in regards to using your email address as your handle... I suggest you contact Roger Guppy (another mod on this site... look for his name in other posts then send him an email by clicking on the email link under his name) and request he change your username (sadly that cannot just be done on your own).  Or... he can delete your account and you can just set up a new username.

As for Parodies... I can't think of any off the top of my head.  sad  SORRY!  Some good suggestions above though I'm sure!  WELCOME TO CHORDIE!!!

Dino, something I hadn't thought of but am now thinking of trying is using the zoom recorder as a microphone with the computer's webcam.  I'll try it out perhaps tomorrow and let you know if it's simple enough to integrate or not (I know it can be used as a usb mic).  The upside to this (if it works easily enough), is that you then also have a travelling recorder (although... you can't plug it in to use as a Mic just anywhere).

Very funny Zurf!  I won't pick on the apple falling far from the tree, I'll say... she just KNOWS YOU!  LOL!  Coincidentally, I am working very hard at getting my fake Bm down in that song and was playing it last night while Katie was taking her bath.  She told me I shouldn't play it because it's a bedtime song and she wasn't ready for bed yet!

Welcome to Chordie Chicov22!  I don't think I can add anything here that hasn't already been said.  Let us know what you come up with though, I'm curious to know what you figure out as I'm often finding "piano" songs that I adapt to guitar!  smile

Zurf, I think the main problem is the simple fact that you don't have extra invisible fingers like the amazing Obi-Norm Kenobi.  wink

I'm between Syracuse and Utica... but... I lived in Lancaster NY (Near enough to where your wife is from that she should easily recognize it!) till I was in 6th grade!  smile  I still have lots of family in Lancaster, Depew, Amherst, etc...  it seems south of us and east (toward Albany) have gotten the worst of the flooding from Irene.

We got little more than a drizzly day yesterday.  The wind picked up a couple times but that's about it.  Some low lying areas prone to flooding are having issues... but Central NY is good over all.  We did have an AWESOME PINK sunset last night as we said goodnight to Irene.  I hope our friends closer to NYC are faring well.  We do have family in NC - Wilmington area, they are without power still I believe, but have a generator and gas which they are using sparingly now.  I pray all Chordians are safe and "dry enough"!  smile

Well... NY City is pretty well shut down and life boats are standing by to save people should the city flood.  I'm THRILLED to be a 5 hour drive away from the coast.  I hope everyone stays safe.  Hope all our friends in the south on the coast are also safe!!  I believe Pix and wife made it through safely.

Well Pete, it seems you're officially a pro youtuber now!

Next time, you can post your covers in the "my local band and me" section to show off... or even update your profile here on chordie to showcase your youtube profile as your website address!  smile  Great job!
