That was great Popster! Had a smile on my face the whole time watching. Must be somethin' special to perform with your grandson. Casey's mic kept slipping, but he handled it like a pro. Fantastic!

Cool. How do we coordinate the emailing of addresses??? Should they all go to Topdown or what? Should the next person just send it to the person after them on this post

My thought was the person who receives the package would make a post to this thread and request emails to themselves.

i.e. - The package is on the way to Pix - When he gets it, he would post along the lines of "package received - first email (or 3rd or 5th or whatever gets the package). The emails would go to him.

I'll keep the google map updated if the username, town, state, country info is posted here.

Don't get hung up on a single strum pattern. Listen to the music, strum along to what sounds / feels right.

OK - I've got the package ready and will drop it at the post office this afternoon.

Good idea about the note / map. I think I'll play a little with google maps and see if there is an easy way to share. Put a placemark at everyplace the package has been and then the individual can add a blurb about their town if desired.

And yes geo - absolutely you can add picks to keep it going. Take what you want, add what you can.

Had this idea and I think it might be fun. Just a reach-out around the world – a little personal touch for all the folks that correspond here on Chordie.

I’ve got dozens and dozens of guitar picks, most of which I will never use. Some purchased as  experiments, but most sent to me for free when I order something (every time I order strings, it seems I get some free picks). Anyway, I’d imagine that most folks have a pile of picks similar to mine.

So, I’m thinking I’ll put a few dozen picks in a nice padded envelope along with a form indicating: from / to / date. The first person to email me their address gets mailed the picks. That person would then post a message on Chordie when received, take what they want, add what they want and send it to the first person who contacts them.

I’m not trying to start some lame chain letter thing – No sending to 10 friends, no bad luck if broken. I just thought it might be interesting and fun to see how far and where a Chordie pick package would go.

So – the first email to me gets to start us off. Please don’t participate if you don’t intend to continue the process.

Thanks guys - that's what the forum is all about. Helping others, sharing links, etc. I'm not the musician many of you folks are, so I do what I can in searching the great big web and helping where possible.

So if I was to put up a website that has free guitar lessons with a blurb about donations, that has advertisement and most of the lessons are pay lessons, I can post a link here at chordie?

Steve

No - That would be spam.

You seem to be commenting on justin sandercoe's excellent site. Please note he does not post here with links, nor does (as far I know) anybody associated with his site. His site is often recommended by chordie regulars to beginners seeking lessons or advice. While justin's site does have a bit of advertising and offers dvd's and other items for sale, he has a huge amount of content that is totally free and supported by donations.

I'm sure that if you were to offer a similar or better product than mr. sandercoe, your site would also receive recommendations from others. Otherwise, if you have a site you wish to promote, please contact Per for advertising opportunities.

There have been a few collaborations here amongst chordie musicians that are all very cool. I was recently turned on to a link of a "virtual Led Zeppelin" cover band that is exceptional and that sent me on the hunt for others. I thought I'd share the links:

GnR

Rush

Evanescence

Beatles

The Zep is truly awesome

The internet is amazing, these folks collaborate their tunes from across the world. I'd love to see a similar collection from Chordie members - the talent is certainly here.

There's a lot of links, if you only have time to watch one, check the Zeppelin.  The entire band is spot on.

Ideally, you would get the site to post a link to Chordie. I'm pretty sure Per (chordie owner) would reciprocate.

Under "Resources" there is already a list of "Recommended guitar sites". I'd assume that these sites have a link share agreement with Chordie.

^ Had a great trip, but alas no surfing. The house we stayed at was a south facing beach with double sand bars. Small, short breaking waves. There were so many other things going on, a day trip to find waves wasn't in the cards. We did some kayaking in the surf though and Casey really enjoyed that.

Hi k3nj1 and welcome to the chordie forum. There is an app call "My Songbook" specifically made to interface your Chordie songbook with an iphone or ipod touch. It's only $1.99 (US) and works fantastic.

Here's a link to the developers site, but you need to puchase the software from iTunes.
