First of all .... congrats on the early morning stuff - see I wasn't crazy! And you did it without a dog !
Next - This is freaking Brilliant !!!
Clever beyond words... I absolutely love it. If I could sing or play worth a crap I 'd do it in a second.
Thanks for sharing this cool stuff!!
Enjoy the rest of the weekend
Jim
PS - Why don't you do a cover of it, it's your song - I'd like to hear it as it comes out of your head and mouth.
ok.. i went back through, made some changes, and tried to make it fit better in what I think is 4/4
Beamer
very good now, but has so much potential...great start to what will be a terrific poem/ song.
nice one
Jim
TF - why do you do this to me ? I want that zebra wood guitar soooooo bad now !!!
my wife will kill me if I buy it
TF = great pun !
Thanks for checking it out - I think Russell has a quote somewhere on his comments - getting old ain't for sissies - he is right - it requires a lot of resiliency
Phill, Beamer and anyone else
I am LOL bc you guys actually think I am a musician and understand 3/4 or whatever it is that distortion means.
I am just a pretty bad self taught strummer that can't keep time very well ( mostly because my right hand wants to play every syllable!)
When I write i just plugs words to chords and hope it sounds close to something musical
I am always indebted to the real musicians here on chordie to fix the music part for me.
my wife sleeps on other side of the house and I play soft.
Glad you are gonna give it a go, and as per my usual rule - I don't care if you change it - in fact I encourage it if it makes it sound good - have fun!
I have Never been disappointed by anyone on chordie that has covered one of my songs- they all have sounded great to me.
Thanks for the kind words - looking forward to some versions.
Jim
KIR - so sorry for your loss.
Seems we all have busy times and real life issues to deal with.
Just keep posting when you can and supporting each other as we have done in the past.
and lastly, I can't afford another guitar... it's not the money... I'm afraid my wife might beat me !
I did a quick recording this morning on my computer -
https://soundcloud.com/tigljk/seven-times-revisited
done by someone with musical ability, I think this could be decent
thanks for checking it out

Here is the chopro version
Beamer
I'm looking forward to hearing this baby ! Looks cool even though I have no clue what a root 5th walk up is
Jim
This morning my dog woke me at 4:45 and I had nothing better to do than grab my guitar and go through some of my songs. I looked at my song Seven times - and said to my self - that's such a good line to be wasted on the friviolity of the song I wrote - although it was kinda amusing.
So I wrote a new more appropriate song for that line - " I fell down seven times, got up eight" . it may need another verse - I don't know - maybe you guys can give some advice on that
Hope you like it better than the first, I do.
here it is

Time out room is over for the guitar !!
Bet it doesn't do that again !!
I think you taught it what it needed to learn.
Zurf - incredible - that was awesome ( even the la de das! ) ! You have a great voice man - I am so jealous. One of my favorite songs - you did it proud!
Phill
There is a time for every season.....
there is a time when there is no reason....
a time to heal, a time to mend
time to get out that ol guitar friend !
Glad it loves you now.
Happy playing !
Jim
and I also put it in chopro format for those that might want to give it a go

Got thinking about all of those on the page...and just starting writing down some ideas.... which then led to this.

I was always wondering where the term " Progressive Rock" comes from ? Is there a particular progression through the songs or something?
While I am not the biggest fan of it - I do appreciate the terrific abilities of the performers you present each week.
Thanks for taking the time to do so.
While in college I liked the group Uriah Heep that you showcased a couple of post ago.

My daughter's boyfriend plays in a duo - it's called Ridgeline. They play pretty much every weekend.
I have no idea how they remember all the words and all the chords - no lyric sheets or electronic screens - just good ol' memory. I am always amazed each time I hear them
(they have a few songs on you tube.)
I know many of you Chordians gig a lot..... you have my total admiration - I am amazed at real musicians like yourselves.
Hopefully one day I will make a Chordie get together and get to play with some of you.( certainly not the vocals )
anyway - Kudos to all of you performers out there
it is something special to be able to do so !
Jim
UJB and Jan
Thanks for your kind words.
Yes I took mine down because I am at the soundcloud limit. I couldn't load Phill's version without taking something down- it was an obvious choice to eliminate mine.
(Trust me, it saved your ears some anguish
I love having the people on Chordie cover my songs because there is so much talent here - UJB - I d' love to have you cover one - you are an excellent musician as well.
Phill is uniquely talented. I never even have to tell him how I think it goes - he and I are somehow almost always on the same page.
Although I have never personally met him, (although we do connect through e-mail ) it's like he and I are old buddies from way back.
Thanks again,
Jim
