I spent a weekend of Motorbikes and music in Dallas Tx.  Saw about 6 bands. Two of them stand out above the rest.  I bought 2 CD's, & patches, and a T-shirt from a band called MISSILE, and the other band,  THE P-TOWN SKANKS, I bought a shirt from them to show my support.

The P-Town Skanks are  Rockability/psychobilly (new name for the style)  they have a cool groove that is not a heavy sound and you might look them up on YT.  I talked with their stand up bass player a while. Victor was cool.  He can slap da bass like a madman lol  They didnt have a CD yet but said they were hoping to soon. You can hear their stuff here  http://www.reverbnation.com/theptownska … ist_933627

I think I have posted vids of MISSILE in the music section last year.  They have added a second guitarist who looks like Jack White.  Yep I joked with him aobut it and he just shook his head and gave the "yep never heard that befor" LOLOL They all were all a great bunch of guys to BS with.  I thought that was nice since I was visably out of their demographic LOLOL, but man they can work a crowd.

For thoes of ya that are on FB with me I have pics posted.

If I understand or think I see the problem,,  Is that you guys are starting from scratch and like most starters, your gonna need guidance  close and personal. Coming here is a great move, and as you can see we are all doing our best to help.  Sometimes a person just has to see it done  for the lightbulb to get bright lol   Go to a shop you trust and let them know what your trying to do. tell them your on a budget, If they are a good shop. they will talk to you for a bit about your needs, and give you basic instructions to get them most of your investment.  OR option 2, Is there a University/Coll/ good highschool around you with a music program? Run an add for a sound guy wanted for light recording project.  Find out how much he would charge you to come in and show you the best way to hook everything up, and do some engineering + show you guys how to run the stuff.
Or do the best you can from what Jerome, Russ, and Phill have given you and scoure the history on this section.  Lots can be gained from YT, but you gotta try and put the peace's  together for what you have.  Keep at it, you will feel rewarded when you get that track sounding good.

Never heard of a unpowered mixer, for any quality you gotta have power. BUT  look here  Beheringer!   I have a xenox 802 but you will want more xlr inputs and onbd effects so look at this  http://www.musiciansfriend.com/pro-audi … 02fx-mixer  or
  http://www.musiciansfriend.com/pro-audi … th-effects
treated with respect this company makes good stuff at a great price.  look into their studio mics also.

I loved my floyd rose II.  Once tuned it just stayed that way. all it took was a tweak of the fine tuners.  But your right about breaking a string.  I never played hard enough to make it a problem.  my buddies all had at least one spare guitar set up ready to go. lol

I found it confusing to use also.  Like I told him in the past, maybe we should have a skype tutorial on it.

I think if you want to produce a quality CD for sale you need to mic all the instruments into a mixer get the sound your happy with and send it stereo to Audacity,Audacity is fine you don't need to use Reaper just get a good mix and after recording it to audacity export it as a wav file not mp3 and burn it to a cd a wav file is larger but not compressed like a mp3 file and will sound richer smile

Or yea, listen to Russel! LOLOL Sorry man I forgot about all your skills at the time.  Yep that sounds like the ticket.  Seems that they dont have a mixer  from what he said.

look up the info on REAPER that Jerome likes .  you can get a free full functioning copy from their website.  But as to the multiple mic's and recording live,, Jerome is also the man.

We pride ourselves on this site for being helpful AND well mannered.  If you just want Random BS then you might try the forums at ultimate guitar.  You also can do a bit of research on your own with the net Let us know  a bit more specific's and We will be glad to help,,  If this is a Language barrier issue,, then please (As above) tell us about yourself.

if you could give us some info on yourself and what you have and like to play we can give you more guidance.  You will find that if we know more about ya,, the better we can help ya,, was that redundant? or was that redundant? lol

Hey Thanks for the encouragement Guys.

Topdown: I like that, Crank up the volume!------ then I'll whisper the lyrics. However I would be extremely happy with your Rule No. 1

Man! I just want to play and sing. Doesn't have to be great just good enough to keep horses from bucking.

Oh I think if you can make them buck then your doing it right!  Like my note to Jeff, amp up your guitar, weather its got electric inside or just a soundhole pick up like I use, you can kick in that ROCKSTAR button! lol  amazing what some chorus and reverb can do for you.  You can even try out running your mic through the same effects.  I like to play around with mine like that.

I can't sing worth a damn, hell, I can just barely call myself a guitar player. That said, I'd rather be playing my guitar and singing than doing just about anything else. I play and sing for fun, folks ain't paying to see me. Jerome said once, singing is 90% attitude and 10% talent. I believe if you sing from the heart, your feelings and spirit will outshine being a little out of tune and most folks appreciate the effort. And if that don't work, just crank it up! I often make up for my lack of talent with volume!

Man, Then you need to set up like I do! lol  Or as my brother-in-law says, just step on that ROCKSTAR button!LOLOLOL

The only thing Ill tack on is this:  I think a great player can make any guitar sound great.  I know that if I play a guitar  and then hand it  to a better palyer, he makes it sound totally different. Toneality i may be similar, but "how it sounds" is always different to me.

Phil, how do I know what key is good for me?  I dont have a clue and I have a heard time matching to a scale or piano>  so how bout what is good for low voices with minimal range lol

One skype jam I tuned down a half step as I have alw2ays know this to be a trick of many rock bands.  Should I go a whole step? (as KISS does now lololol)

Hey Zurf, I know Im repeating myself, but thanks!! You people, or at least the ones Ive had contact with, are great. I guess Ive been jaded by the way I think society's social manners have gone down the tubes in such short time. Im 35 yrs old, and have friends between 20-60yrs old, and can see the difference in every generation. Its a shame, but nice to know I found a place where there are some genuinely cool people. And if ya lived in R.I. id b glad to share the equiptment, and have some jam sessions!
BTW: I never ever have luck like this, and I know just how nice these are, so im able to appriciate them, and id be jealous of myself too! I only mentioned the big things, there are about 12 pedals, an "Akai" riff-o-matic, u400, variable Tempo/constant pitch phrase recorder..wich I havent figured out yet. A Boss JS-5 Jamstation. Id look it up cause it does to many things for me to write down. A Tascam cd-GT1MK2 (fun toys!)
                      Pete

First of all-- Thank you for the compliment, (im 45 btw)-- and then...OH man just rub it all in.  I love stomps! So add the pic of the toys also. and go ahead and list all of them.  You certainly have a treasure chest there! (Oh and the comment on your one post abut getting a "fat sound " like Jerry or anyone else for that matter, doesn't look like your going to have a problem there.  You have probably every tool you need to get what you want with all the stomps and processors you have.)
I am curious though, You say you inherited them. I am hoping that you did not lose anyone in a tragic manner.  If  that was the case, it should add even more sentimental value.  I put a post on here this past summer about my luck of receiving my Ovation 12 string.  It was given to me by a dear friend who can no longer play it due to arthritis.  Long ago when I was a kid she had told me one day it would be mine when she could no longer let it sing.  That guitar will never be sold. (and it rocks too!  just ask Jeff (TopDown) or Zurf, I had it wired up with some distortion and flange for our Skype the other day! LOLOL)
Jx3 (Joey Joey Joey ) lives in NJ, but that is still a 4hr trip for ya. So that being said, keep an eye out for Skype dates in the general forum. They pop up every now and then and its good fun.  Think Virtual campfire. Each person takes a turn doing their thing.  And don’t worry about your voice, most of us can’t sing too great either. We all know it and do the best we can.  (There are those of us who do sing very good too, Just not me! I Sing flat as heck!)

My other favorite quotes :  Jayne:  Shiny. Let's be bad guys.

Mal : I aim to misbehave.

Mal: Looks can be deceiving.
Jayne: Not as deceiving as a low down, dirty... deceiver.
Mal: Well said. Wasn't that well said, Zoë?
Zoë Washburne: It had a kinda poetry to it, sir.
