Nice tune - I agree with what Jim said, I can imagine this being a cowboy looking after his herd in the nighttime, next to a fire...

Good one Richard was that the audience singing along on Light My Fire that I could hear on the video or was it an echo in the hall??? Your two originals very strong songs rhythmically and lyrically also.
Hi Peatle,
Thanks for having a listen; they were singing along (it's a pretty common practice for well known songs there!).
Cheers
Richard
They were pretty good - was it two different gigs (I saw you had a change of clothes and the bass player lost his mic on the last video) or two different sets?
I must say I love the band name too!
Cheers

This video is one of the gigs I did at Wanneroo Folk club, and starts with "Light my Fire" - which has the words "funeral pyre" in the second verse:

I bought one of these second hand, but, whilst I liked the sound coming out initially, it really messed up my video recordings (mostly because I was adding echo to the video recording, and echo on echo doesn't work) - so I sold it about 6 months after. I still have the magnetic brace inside my main Maton.

Hi all,
We have a dozen words to choose from this month as suggested by our members:
electron, delicate, layers, funeral, linen, exempt, kidney, do, donor, bedroom, brake, citizen
With these words, our members can write a poem, create a song or cover somebody else's song which include any or all of those words and remember to make a suggestion for the upcoming November FSOTM.
Go ahead and make some awesome music!! Looking forward to hearing it!
Thanks for the suggestions ... October is now live!
For this months suggestions, I'm going to do the same as last month because (a) it is less prone to repetitive words and (b) it's easy to add (and (c) Jandle asked me to set this up, and I didn't have any better ideas ).
For Novembers suggestions you'll need to follow these steps:
1) Got to https://randomwordgenerator.com/
2) Generate 4 random words
3) Put those words in our topic here!
Note you don't need to pick the four in the first generation, any four will do!!
Look forward to reading what you all RANDOMLY SUGGEST.
READY ... SET ... GO!!!
Haha, nice!!
Cheers
Richard
Great tune; observant and entertaining, and truthful at the same time ...

I got:

citizen
Still a few days for others to enter!!!

neophytte, nice little switch with the lyrics in that line in this song. It actually works better I thought swopping that line out (I went back and checked the original version). Well done, the song as I said previously on the original version suits you and works well. Nice one.
Thanks for that feedback - I'm glad I got to do it live instead of it becoming a shelf project ... I've been having fun exploring my old songs again, but always keen to start up something new, there are a few other songs in the pipelines, but they seem to get pushed into the 'distraction zone' and don't get finished (you know that line from Pink Floyd's Time: "... plans that either go to naught, or half a page of scribbled lines ..." )

The cat very chilled listening to you on the couch
You mean the now famous cat - I think he's getting abig head about being in the video
neophytte, my feedback was for California Dreamin. I didn't see Cheap wine so have just listened to that one. A nice cover, you did it well and it suited you vocally and as always, played well.
Thank you again!
Cheers

Thanks - I'm sure you would all be welcome too!

Richard, your Wanneroo Club website would have to be one of the best music club sites I have seen. Excellent photos and write ups
Thanks, I've sent that to the guy that does most (if not all!) of it. I'm sure he'll be happy to read some positive feedback! I know he puts a lot of effort in and, as it goes in these clubs, is often underappreciated.

Richard that is a good song and I like its title "Prelude To Solitude".
Thanks, it was based on the song from the April 2023 FSOTM: https://www.chordie.com/forum/viewtopic.php?id=38819
The Waneroo Club is that a regular place where you play??
Yes, they often have 'guest artist' appear, but have said recently that the 'come-all-ye' have been more popular (and are cheaper for the club to run) so have been doing more of those. They have a web site with a few of their performers here:

I just read when he is out door knocking with the Jehovah Witnesses people have told him he looks a lot like Hank Marvin.
He probably does

Here's a song I wrote earlier this year Prelude to Solitude, which was unfinished for a previous FSOTM, but has now been modified to include the line a bolt of lightning, through my heart to be eligible for this months FSOTM:

Hi Richard. Apache was in my set and I've always been a fan of the Shadows. I thought it was more reminiscent of Guitar Tango! I think now that the tune came first, or riff? Then the chords Al la Apache, Am, Dm etc but not all of the tune. I was delighted when Peatle wanted to use it, but I would like to have done a more perfect recording as the mistakes stand out.
I think we always hear our own mistakes more than anyone else! As Peatle mentioned above, I didn't hear them ... but I guess we always have room for improvement .. (all of us!!)
I heard that Hank Marvin now lives in Perth Australia with his second wife Carole.
He has been living here for a while, I know when I was in a band, the guitarist (I was playing bass) had a quite rare guitar for sale - I don't remember what it was, but something like a Fender Mustang in baby blue with racing stripes. He didn't really want to sell it so had the price a bit higher, apparently Hank came down, played a few tunes, didn't argue the price and took it home. Unfortunately it happened about an hour or two before the jam, so I didn't get to meet him. That was in the 90's, probably in 1993, so he's been here for 30 odd years at least ...
Cheers
Richard
