Michael Moore has just abnnounced a new movie he is making about the Bailout. I submitted 3 songs to him for consideration and this is one of them.

This is an Acoustic Fusion song written by Gil and inspired by a news story about a guy who lost his job and was also losing his house and right in the interview he sank to his knees and starting sobbing while his startled wife and daughter looked on. He didn't know where he and his family would end up and felt deeply ashamed he could not support them anymore.

This is my first post and I wanted to use it to say....great job!  I love that song.  I play on weekends with some older folks that play the classic country music.  Im trying to learn and have discovered I dont like the way my strumming sounds on my own.  So I have been practicing my strumming and I sure feel hopeful after watching you, so again, great job!
Keep plugging away!

And thanks to the chordie gang, couldnt do it without you!

Thanks for listening Bluelady!

Check out the movie teaser and the three songs I submitted to Michael for consideration. The film is about the Bailout and scheduled for October release:

Sometimes a song that I don't know how to play gets in my head and stays there. Maybe it just wants to be learned, I don't know why this happens. So I looked up the chords and took a run at it, gave it a rest, slept on it and then recorded it. This video is my second take at learning to play the song. So it is rough and raw. Done very quickly.

I used the recording from the first take to add an additional vocal to the chorus. With practice it can be beter.

PS: Also uploaded it to song page here on Chordie.

Not getting the message from Norton anymore. All is good.
That pop-up was annoying.

I was disappointed. They pulled it from the schedule last minute because they couldn't get permission to give the DVD away as a gift for pledge drive.  I hear it will be rescheduled for 6/28/09.  Keep an eye out for it.

On September 16,2007 a YouTube friend of mine, Ottawarocket (real name Rob Moynes), uploaded an original song that just floored me.
I asked Rob for permission to cover it and by 9/21/07 had mine posted and Rob really likes my vesrion.
Just uploaded a HD remaster of both audio and video for it.

This is a really great song and you can see in the related videos column Rob's original post + sevral others who have covered his song after me.  The mark of a truly great song.

Heads up! Mark your calendars! Set your Tivos! American Masters presents: Neil Young - Don't Be denied premiering 6/10/09 on PBS

this includes him in his own words explaining his career. He has also contributed film from his archives for use in this.

Neil Young
Don't Be Denied

A resolutely private artist who seldom looks back, Neil Young has never before unfolded his career on camera. With unprecedented access to one of the world’s renowned music legends, American Masters presents Neil Young: Don’t Be Denied premiering nationally Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at 9 p.m. (ET) on PBS (check local listings). The film explores how Young’s unbending dedication to the muse has created an awe-inspiring body of work and bruised a few egos along the way.

Always loved the CSNY live version of this song from the 4 Way Street album.
Never learned it until now. I tokk a rough unrehearsed stab at trying to translate it to acoustic:

I watched them both and you have natural talent and ability.
The fact that you can play and sing like that after only 4 months is incredible.

Thanks, Gits

Thanks Gits,

This message is to thank you for sharing your gift with us, for you are gifted.  I'm certain that many hours and years of hard effort have gone into honing that gift too.  Your generosity in sharing the results here are greatly appreciated.  I don't comment on every post you put up, but I do look at them.  There hasn't been one yet that I haven't enjoyed.

Hi Zurf,
Thanks a million.
Being the father of two little ones prevents me from really participating on the forum.
I actually spend most of my precious little spare time making music or writing songs.
I'll keep posting as long as others find them helpful or like them.

Cheers, Gil

I don't know of any tab for that. I actually learned this one by ear back in the late 1970s and with practice you can learn the hammer ons and get the timing right.

Sorry to hear about the problems with the song page.
I removed the link and changed it to the YouTube page instead which works fine.

Posted a video recorded today and then using an old recording from 1986 between 2:00 and 3:03 featuring my good friend playing a lead guitar part (audio only).
Found some photos of us playing together in 2004 so I used those for that section of video.

I guess I'm missing this one too. Maybe I should pay more attention to the content here on Chordie. Surely All1Song isn't using Chordie as a spamming tool to promote himself .?.......

I am referring to messages I get on YouTube. A lot for this one. So now I can direct these people to Chordie resulting in more traffic to Chordie and possibly new members.
Isn't that what Chordie wants? Let me know if this is a problem and I will stop steering people to Chordie

Gil - I believe these guys are busting your chops for your "drive-by" style of posting. It seems every few weeks you stop by, throw up a few vids and await for accolades. Rarely (if ever) do you contribute to other posts or even acknowledge those that comment on your vids.

I for one do appreciate your vids - you do Neil amazingly well. That said, the forum is a "virtual community" and it would be better if you contributed more than you have in the past. Just my 2 cents of course.

Allow me to explain.
My personal life really limits my computer time online. I have two little ones (a 4 year old boy & 2 year old girl) who take up a lot of my time and believe me I love spending time with those two.  Then there is the dilemma of finding enough spare time to actually make music.  Not only do I write and record my own songs but these cover songs as well.  As you can imagine doing this takes a lot of time and is a lot of hard work.

I like to share my music with others. I do not need accolades. Nice to get them but not why I post here. I post videos here only to help others hear and see how I play a particular song.  If some here consider that spam then so be it, they don't have to look.  I wish I could participate but I simply do not have the time with everything else I am involved with. So I'll continue to post here as long as people want the videos and find them helpful. Otherwise I will go away.  Doesn't make a difference to me.

BTW, I think the hard work I put into making the videos and poasting them on the chord pages is a mighty big contribution here.

Always wanted to learn this song so looked it up here and found a great chords page. Thanks to Chordie for helping me find these chords.
Just posted a video of my rendition here on that page:

http://www.chordie.com/chord.pere/www.l … lways&

Actually I should say old song but I've only recently recorded it.
This is the latest version with some changes to lyrics.
It is a song I wrote which memorializes a badly broken heart.
Ancient history for me now but I felt the song was still worth revisiting.

I get so many requests for tab on this one.  It's a really simple song to play too as it just repeats the same pattern over and over.
This song is from Neil Young's 1995 album with Pearl Jam called Mirrorball and is my personal favorite from that album.
I posted new tab/chords here with a video:

In the future you'll need to share your lyrics, chords, and tabs, via private e-mail to the inquisitive one(s). Take a second or two and read over the "sticky" posts at the beginning of each section you choose to post in and situations like this one can be avoided. My bad, Sorry about that. Since these were available for free to the public from The Neil Young PDF songbook I didn't think there would be a problem posting. Anybody can download that PDF songbook. It is available for free and Neil Young is fully aware of it.  In fact when I met Neil last year and told him I play a bunch of his songs on YouTube he was stoked and encouraged me to keep it up. He has since watched some of my videos. After all it is huge marketing for him and I think he realizes that. Smart businessman.

See new video at bottom of chords page here.
I play it in CGCFAC tuning:

Neil uses the imagery of an Old Laughing Lady as a metaphor for Death in this bautiful song.  The lyrics evoke some great imagery and the whole metaphor ties together brilliantly in this song. What a great writer Neil is:
