I think the nut will be a significant change as well...

I'm lukewarm on "anchoring". For me as a beginner it was a crutch (I probably shouldn't use the past tense as I still suck many years later!). For every chord change it helps, it hurts a different progression. For example: I was taught to form an "A" with pinky, ring and middle as it'd promote learning a "B" barre chord later on. Seemed solid but that form, as opposed to index, middle and ring, doesn't lend it self to variants of open chord "A's" like A7, Amaj7, etc. SO that actually hindered my development in some instances (and I still don't use that form for B shapes).

I guess all the above babble = IMO what helps you now might hinder you later...don't get stuck in any habits. Stay open minded because everytime you think you've reached the next level a progession will come and kick you in the teeth!!!!!

Ha Ha!!!! Oh, I meant what the heck is that a picture of!!! smile

I have single coiled and humbuckered guitars. There are differences in how they sound. Looks like the ART 500 has 2 humbucking (active) pick ups similar to a Les Paul. You can play the Blues on a LP.....that much is for sure! Thicker strings should do the trick. If not have a look at what you're playing that ART 500 through...that could be your issue.

Nothing wrong with that, everyone's having fun and no one got hurt.....I bet it sounded great that night!!!! cool

I was thinking perhaps he's already had too many pieces of "juicy fruit"???? That's some deep stuff there....

One word... not even a real word.....decaf  wink

Try thicker strings and a set up?

I don't think I am a guitar player but I play guitar to accompany a few folk songs .

And yes  Geo , it does put a smile on my face and I enjoy the heck out of "playing a bit"

That's what it's all about cool

I've been playing for years and still say "I play a bit". I hope I'm never content with my skill level. There is always something to learn. The key is to enjoy the journey. Does it put a smile on your face from time to time? Then you play a bit too!

A guy is driving around the back woods of Lubbock, Texas, he sees a sign in front of a broken down shanty-style house: 'Talking Dog For Sale ' He rings the bell and the owner appears and tells him the dog is in the backyard.   The guy goes into the backyard and sees a nice looking Labrador retriever sitting there.

'You talk?' he asks.

'Yep,' the Lab replies.

After the guy recovers from the shock of hearing a dog talk, he says 'So, what's your story?'

The Lab looks up and says, 'Well, I discovered that I could talk when I was pretty young. I wanted to help the government, so I told the CIA.. In no time at all they had me jetting from country to country, sitting in rooms with spies and world leaders, because no one figured a dog would be eavesdropping.'

'I was one of their most valuable spies for eight years running. But the jetting around really tired me out, and I knew I wasn't getting any younger so I decided to settle down. I signed up for a job at the airport to do some undercover security, wandering near suspicious characters and listening in. I uncovered some incredible dealings and was awarded a batch of medals.''I got married, had a mess of puppies, and now I'm just retired.'

The guy is amazed. He goes back in and asks the owner what he wants for the dog.

'Ten dollars,' the guy says.

'Ten dollars? This dog is amazing! Why on earth are you selling him so cheap?'

'Because he's a liar. He never did any of that crap.

Laughed out loud on that one....thanks

It seems like we had a similar discussion here a few years ago and Southpaw said he used a scrunchy on his wrist sometimes when playing for that very reason...  Or maybe it was something else he used a scrunchy for.... Oh well, I can't rightly remember, but it rung a bell smile

Southpaw wears scrunchies????!!!!!!!! smile

Not that there is anything wrong with that

Well done...especially for your first attempt. Keep up the good work!!!

Why not just use Audacity or something else? Once you've loaded the drivers for the mic you should be able to choose it as the source in Audacity (or maybe in control panel of Windows)? I used my MMX in Audacity. I can't remember exactly how but it was painless I thought?

Yup. I used to play way more than I do now. I used to threaten 80 occasionally but now just happy to be in the 90's. Golf's funny that way...now that I don't play as much I have much more fun...no expectations just a nice walk in the grass (or sometimes the woods).
