Infact I hate electric guitars in general, and wished i'd never bought it, but at the same time i'm glad i bought it so now I know that I hate it  <img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_lol.gif" border=0 alt="Laughing">

You know what I mean I hope, I wanted one from the minute i could play a G chord, so i bought one for £100 and liked it for 10 minutes!

I'm selling it now so I can put it towards a decent acoustic.

Is this normal behavior for someone or am i an abnormal guitarist?

Thanks alot Roger, your support means alot to me mate. <img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_smile.gif" border=0 alt="Smile">

I suppose it does help if your younger, you will probably progress quicker and take alot more in.

Not only that but If I started learning when i was 14 instead of 24 like i am now, I could probably follow instruction better without thinking "I know better".

But what the heck, your not going to learn it by asking questions like this on the internet!! <img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_lol.gif" border=0 alt="Laughing">

Get your finger(s) out and start strumming!!

Scrimmy,

I posted the message below on another thread (but same topic.)  See if this helps.

---------

A good practice for a B chord is to start out with an A chord (2nd fret). Hold an A chord with your 2nd, 3rd, and 4th fingers. Then slide your fingers (while still holding A) up two frets. And, add your index finger to the 1st string (2nd fret). You now have a B chord! After you master this change, try going backward (to the A chord.) Of course, you can also barre with the index finger to get the full sound. But, if you're just starting, this exercise would help you form a good-sounding B chord.

I can play an open F, so i was thinking that if this was possible, then B must also be possible?

Does anyone know how to do this?

Thanks in advance!

Well i'm for the lenth of his lesson, i could get to Glasgow, and the extra £2 would pay the petrol, I'm only in Perth!

I think i'll call him and tell him to forget it!

Ok i phoned a guy to help me and my son play guitar, he wants to charge us £12 each for half hour sessions.

Is this a fair price?

Baring in mind my son is 6 years old i thought this was pretty expensive, how much can a 6 year old learn in 30 minutes???

As for me, I'm not sure either as all i need to learn is how to play barred chords which is fair enough but I think its going to take a while before i will learn them.

Anyone have an opinion?

[SONG]
{t: Pick a number}
{st: Alex Scrimgeour}

(Play G-----C----D to begin)

Pick a[G]number pick a card[C] or glass[D]
Sing[G]your next song like it was[C] your last[D]
I may[Am] not be that [C]funny but i bet[G] I make you laugh[D]
It [C]may not be [G]intentional but i'm afraid its all i have[D7]

So pick[G] a number,pick from 1[C] to 10[D]
Take[G] a card and put it back[C] again[D]
Pick[Am] the life you wanted[C] i can see[G] it will suit you well[D]
But the one[Am] that you choose might also[C] be the one[G] that chose you aswell[D]

CHORUS
(Strum slowly)
[D]What do you do when it all goes to your [Am]head
Its a gamble but we've always [C]said "What the [G]f*ck[D]"
And what[D] do you say when thres nothing left to say[Am] because you pissed it all away[C]
your out of [G]luck[D]

So [G]pick a number ,pick a [C]time to [D]cry
[G]pick a motive pick an [C]alibi[D]
[Am]If you make the wrong [C]decisions if you [G]back the losing [D]car
In[Am] life there is no [C]2nd chance so [G]just dont go too [D7]far

[G]Pick a love song, pick a [C]friend to [D]share.
[G]Pick the right one, pick a [C]friend that [D]cares
[Am]I'm young so i [C]still have lots of time to find[G] my chosen path[D]
I'm[Am] 24 feelin like [C]17 I'll let you [G]do the math[D]

***REPEAT CHORUS***

So you [G]picked a number, i know you didnt[C] want [D]to
Close[G] your eyes lets hope your dreams[C] dont [D]haunt you
Please[Am] dont take for [C]granted how you [G]got to where you [D]are
But who[Am] am i to [C]tell you what to do in life i'm just a man[G] and his [D]guitar
G----C---D etc etc fade out.

Roger, you did a great job of the song, i'm going to have a fiddle about with it like i mentioned, do a solo and extend the verses a bit.

I thought it only right you should be credited for doing what you did, sorry if ive offended you.

Written by me, recorded by Roger Guppy.

Thanks again Roger, i think you should be publicly recognised on Chordie for your excellent work.

I'll get a look at that video in a few minutes, all these comments are giving me great inspiration to write another one aswell, and some useful info from you guys too so thanks alot!

Well i cant sing worth a feck for a start, and im a bit embarrassed to do it infront of my family lol

maybe i will though when i get them out the house,i could always get someone to sing it i suppose.......

Well hopefully this is just the start, i would like to take this song further by having a proper guitar player (Unlike me i'm a fraud lol) play it and sing it, maybe then when I see what kind of sound I'm getting from someone who can play well then i can decide what my next steps will be.

Are there any forums which i'd be able to submit a song for someone to play and record by any chance?

No way man!  There is a long and honored history in the blues and country music about shooting your old lady for messing around.

Hey Joe, where you going with that gun in your hand?

Miller's Cave has a two time murderer lost in it.

Kenny Rogers, <b>Johnny Cash</b>, Muddy Waters. They all wrote about it.

So should you!

Johnny Cash was kinda my inspiration for the song  <img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_eek.gif" border=0 alt="Shocked">  <img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_surprised.gif" border=0 alt="Surprised">

At the start of my song it says "Written by Alex Scrimgeour" <img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_lol.gif" border=0 alt="Laughing">
