What time does chordie use? Whenever I post a message it says a time way off my time which is EAST (Eastern Australian Standard Time).

Personally I like the Gibsons for their warmth and sustain. But it just a matter of personal choice.

Re: Recording/Editing Software (5 replies, posted in Songwriting)
If you are just recording an Acoustic part and a Vocal part a simple recording software product and a mixer will do the trick (I use Adobe Audition but i dont know if that'll work on a mac). If your guitar has a pickup you could plug it straight into the mixer and record directly onto your computer. With the microphone make sure its a good one. It doesn't have to be a condenser but if thats what you wanted than the Rode NT1A is pretty good and isnt as expensive as some others. You could get one of those for about $400AU but i dont know how many pounds that is if you are from England. If you dont want a condenser than an industry standard SHURE will do the trick.

Re: Tips for a novice (18 replies, posted in Electric)
THe one thing I alwys tell people is to learn how to reverse pick. I see alot of begginar guitarists picking down away from them but not up towards them. Consequently some of them give up the guitar because it just gets too hard <img src="images/smiley_icons/icon_confused.gif" border=0 alt="Confused">

Re: Jargon (1 replies, posted in Electric)
I dunno if im an expert at tihs sort of stuff but this i pretty much what ive picked up.
Overdrive=Overdrives the signal from the guitar to distort the sound.
Distortion= Pretty much the same as overdrive, i don't know the full details.
Vibrato= Moving your finger back and forth quickly on the fret, kinda hard to describe.
Bend= Bending the string upwards to increase the pitch
hammer down- litteraley hammering down with your finger on the fret without plucking the string.
Pull-off= The oppisite of hammer-down
You can also get effects pedals like a wah-wah, which makes the gutair sond like the pedals name. Send me a message if you want me explain any more.

I gotta say John whatisname from red hot chilli peppers. Also last year there was a school musical at my high school about the seventies and seeing Mitchel Everleigh stand out and solo to "long way to the top" was just magical.
