Can't remember who, but some posh bird, when asked about some long haired band's music replied "that's awful, they'll go down like a Lead Zeppelin"

Guess who she was talking about!

Anyone with a quote from This Is Spinal Tap on their signature is ok by me, even if they don't realize Manhattan is in New York!

There's such a fine line....

TRIFLE - Place in the bottom of a bowl some stale, dry sponge cake. Pour on a liquid (derived from boiling bones) that sets to a quivering, shaking mass and cover the cake. Fruit can be added before it sets. When it sets cover with custard and top with whipped cream. DISGUSTING!

Roger

I think the bones thing is gelatine, and before you put the stale, dry sponge cake in you soak it in SHERRY which is an alcoholic beverage derived from grapes and therefore very good!

Jelly in England is Jello in the US

And anyone who has biscuit for breakfast has no taste *ducks and runs for cover* lol

The hand closed with the middle finger raised was a suggestion that the recipient would enjoy being stimulated by said digit, homosexuality being an insult in most cultures.  Quite unpleasant for both people if you ask me!  lol

Hi, I realise that Chordie doesn't host any songs per se but in the songwriting forum, there is a wealth of original material posted by members.

Is it possible to add these to the song index or do they have to be hosted on another site?  I'd love to put a songbook together of all my favourite originals!

Cheers

Hi guys

I thought call and response originated in church when only one or two people could read;  The caller would read a line from the psalm or hymn and the congregation would repeat it so everyone got the words!

Hi Midnight Moses, welcome to Chordie!

So here I was, Afghanistan Dreams link comes up & I thought Great! A Drug Song!  Not much drug influence here but a great song nonetheless.  Nice chord changes and very evocative lyrics.

Well done and thanks for sharing

No sleepers lol but she did give me such a ding across the head for starting to masturbate!  When I told her it was a joke she calmed down somewhat but got the BIG pliers out lol

I used to love the Monkees, watched them all the time in the school holidays, drove my mum mad!  They always looked like they were having so much fun making the programmes.

Going back to bed now as been overdoing it - Huge swelling... well, I don't like to brag lol lol lol

Hi, JCellini

You gotta be careful with stuff like that!  You pasted the URL directly after a full stop which sends everything haywire.  I quoted you and separated the URL from the rest of your post... You got some fine looking guitars!

BTW did you get the tuner I sent you a while back?

try this

I guess it didn't work. I'll keep trying.

An easier way is for chordie members to open an account with photobucket or similar, then paste a link to it in the chordie forum.

See  my post in the show us your guitar thread for reference.  If you think it's worth doing, set up a new forum specifically for this, if you can follow my instructions, use that as a 'sticky' for others to follow.

Cheers

Hey bonedaddy, thats great. That might be the easiest way to post your pictures without going through all the trouble of setting up a seperate site. I have pictures in a file, but I can't figure out how to get them here. Can anyone help. I am no Bill Gates.!

No problem!
1  Go to photobucket.com and set up an account - it's as easy as this site.
2  When you get logged in, there's a box with 3 blank boxes and an upload button.  Click the top browse button next to the empty box at the top.  This will open a window to your hard drive.
3  Navigate to your photo folder and select a photo.  Click on the 'open' button on this window and it will transfer your photo title to the photobucket box.
4  When you've filled these boxes, click on 'add more'.  Continue until you have selected all the photos you want to upload.
5  Then click 'upload'.  This transfers your photos to the photobucket album where you can add titles and stuff.
6  You can then right click in the address bar, select 'copy' and come to chordie, open up a reply window in the forum and paste the address of your album.
7  Voila!

cool  Gotta go now, too much typing!

Cheers

The only difference is the spelling.  Shit means to separate (as in shed ie from the body).  Shite just gives the word a different emphasis.  Hope this helps!

By the way, there is only one true swear word in the English language and that is "bloody".  It is a 'bastardisation' of "By the Lady" (Mary of course) who people used to swear by.  Everything else is just profanity or vulgarisms.

cool professor bonedaddy!

Hi, Weedjie

If you are ok with someone speaking to a loved one like that then that's fine.  If your loved one was offended by the language/manner in which it was used then it becomes a criminal offense in the UK.

If more people were educated in the ways of respect for others then we wouldn't live in such an insular society.

Take care

I think I should learn tact & discretion !  lol

How dare you Lena!  I thought you were a nice girl and then you shatter my illusions with one word!  Well, I'm sure you are only repeating what you've heard and have no comprehension of it's meaning lol

Those Chicks are welcome, no need to thank me... which is just as well lol lol lol

lol Have you seen it?  86 views and counting!  I'm off now to have my roots done and a manicure, pedicure ready for my unsuspecting public.  I'm sure any moment now some music company exec will call my telephone to offer me a multi million pound contract... to never sing again!

I seem to have inadvertantly got onto a quick list of related videos to the Dixie Chicks Not Ready To Make Nice so all the Dixie Chick fans have the link on that page as they watch their video!

As for the bits, I think I've been overdoing it as my groin now looks like it has  a marrow growing under the skin!  Off to see the Nursey tomorrow to have the train track removed!

Hi BoneDaddy,

It is only the [ song] (and I have inserted an extra space) that you have to be very wary of. This is the 'switch on' command for the special formatting, so you can use [/song] the 'switch off' and {soc} without a problem.

Roger

isnt swearing good , who says its bad , why feel ashamed when you conciously use those words to describe how you feel inside, thats whats wrong with us humans we have developed a sense of morality which stops us being our innermost self, that cant be good , hence we swear which is like our inner selves sticking two fingers up at the morals which confine us!!

But when you swear as punctuation, it loses it's emphasis thereby becoming common usage.  God help us all if we weren't confined by morals.  Imagine what might happen if everyone was free to do what they felt like to anyone else?  How would you feel if you saw your ma/gran talking to someone in the street and as you approached you heard something like

"Hi Edna, how the ~#%* are you?  Haven't seen you in ~#%*ing ages!  You need to get your skinny wrinkled A## self to ~#%*ing Church more often, 8!tcH!"

Quite unpleasant I think.
