he had a roller coaster life.  Great musician

His daughter has become his standard bearer.

I loved all of his songs - but the performance I like best is this

Thank you TF !

I just think it has a really sweet sound to it - and I like how the chorus goes. To me it's filled with a little certainty and uncertainty... the stuff love is made of in our everyday lives.

I wish I could sing because when I play it and it's my inner voice singing ( which always sounds great) it feels so good - but when I record myself - not so much  sad

I have it now in my chordie songbook  - this is the link for anyone that wants to use that form - I like viewing it there much better.

Thanks again for the kind words TF !

Jim

ps... my wife likes my inner voice a lot more than my outer voice as well ! smile

I don't why this got in my head - but i started playing it on my twelve string and the harmonics just sounded so pretty to me as they matched the words. ( a least in my head)

Anyways - the song is...

[Song]

{t: Love Is Not Love}

[C]Love is not love, if it changes with the  [G]wind
[C] love must always comes  from deep   [G] within
[C]Love is not love, if your heart isn't [G] true
[Am]Love is not [C]love, if I don't have  [G] you

[D]  [C]   [G]

[C]Love is not love if you can' t spread your [G]wings
[C]yet it's   constant, no matter what each day  [G] brings
[C]Love is not love without sweet  [G] harmony
[Am]Love is not [C]love without you next to me [G]me

Chorus
[G] So what is love, can you tell me please
Oh it [D] seems it's got me on my knees
They [C]say love hurts, but oh  that can't be [G] true
[G] So what is love, don't you know
It's [D]why I never want to let you go
[C]I love every second that I spend with [G]you
[D] I love every time you [C]kiss me like you [G]do
[D] I love every moment that [C] I'm in love with [G] you

[C]Love isn't love without honesty and [G]trust
[C]Love will never tarnish or turn to [G]rust
[C]Love is not what you say,it's what you[G] do
[Am]Love is not [C] love unless it's with [G] you

[D]  [C]   [G]

hope you like it.

Jim

Bill

I think it could be :

they are holding out for more money !
their fingers are so sore from strumming that they cant touch the keyboard to load pics
they are so full from Amy's good cooking they can't move
they are all in JJJ's car riding around Oneida - having to much fun to check in
they built a bon fire bigger than last year and set central NY on fire - they are in jail, but used their one phone call to order pizza
they have drank a few too many drinks - forgot about us
or.....
they said - heck if they didn't come, they don't get to see or hear the fun!

Were you at Nassau Collesium in the late  1980's when the Dead played in Long Island. I was there - it was awesome.

I was staying in a hotel about two blocks away -  they locked the doors because all the " dead heads ' infiltrated and took all the TP out of the lavs smile  smile smile

Inside the Collesium, the "smoke"  was so thick - people in the shit nose bleed seats probably couldn't even see Jerry and the band by mid-concert.

Great times , Great friggin times !!

Your skill level is way above my pay grade.

That was fantastic.

Did the mic blow out ?  Great recovery without missing a beat.

I wish I could do that- looks like soooo much fun!

Very talented.  Very emotional link to his performances.   You can so tell how much the music meant to him - that's my kind of performer!
Thanks again peatle

Great story.  So sad he died.

This song by him and Australian Paul Kelly is beautiful, and ironically the line
" was blind, but now can see"   comes to fruition for Gurrumal  sad

It is such a beautiful rendition !

Badeye - That was one of your best finds... must have been the rare sunshine ! smile

Sonny Terry's voice is spectacular - so deep and soothing... the perfect match to the Harp and pitch of Brownie voicing.

Garrison is one of my faves.  My kids used to make fun of me because I used to watch Prairie Home Companion.

There is a ton of great music hidden in that hilarious song.

Thanks for sharing.  Since its raining here all day- I'll probably look up more PHC videos on youtube.

TF

Pretty funny stuff.  Love the dialect, I had to listen really carefully to catch everything... a few words I had to look up   smile  !
Thanks for the morning smile.
