I snap anything below 10s. I play 11s or 12s tuned down to eb.

Be safe out there.

Nature can suck it -  Lake Mead is down like 120 feet and the whole midwest has it up to their armpits.

My other passion! I have a bouvier des flandres, a shar pei/lab mix, two border collie mixes, and a chihuahua mix. And a cat. I almost have more critters than guitars.

I think those chords are wrong.

Have you tried closed D with the III on the D string? That's a lot easier. Basically a relative minor 7 with the A string muted...

late edit: or closed D/III with the III in the low e string, like a root position D/F#, with the A and D strings muted. wink

Interesting replies! @ZGuitar, I use it for internal time keeping. I set it really really slow so it only hits once every 4 or more downbeats. I have friends who can play in time with it hitting only once per form (every 12 measure for a blues tune, for example) but my tempo is not nearly that good.

em and Dmaj7. But I'd love to see the arrangement you're playing because I think those chords may be wrong, unless I'm not remembering the song correctly. smile

Effects loops have always sounded like crap whenever I use effects. I'd just put wireless transmitter into the guitar, then from the "out" of the wireless receiver plug your effects in a chain, with the last effect's "out" plugged into the "in" of the amp.

Any of y'all practice with a metronome? How do you use it?

That's fascinating. it makes position shifting way easier, I'd guess.

Practice your performance until you can do it in your sleep. Also practice fractions of songs...start and end them in weird places, come in on verses, choruses, and bridges instead of practicing the whole tune as one unit. Doing these two things will a) make you are so comfortable with the song that even if performance anxiety gets the better of you, you'll still have your shit together, and b) if you do lose your place or briefly go mental it will be much easier for you to re-start or catch up mid-tune.

I used to have horrid nerves before shows...nausea, vomiting, the whole deal. I started doing a shot of Jameson to take the edge off. smile Now I still get nerves, but it's more excitement than anxiety. I typically play with my eyes closed which helps me forget that there's an audience. smile

Finale PrintMusic probably does that. The problem you'll run into is that 99% of tabs only show fret markings, not phrasing or note duration.

For learning chords, songs, or music theory?

My main acoustic was purchased for me by my folks some 29 years ago, used, for $150. I still play that guitar every day. So I def. think there are winners at the lower price ranges - you just have to look and look and look for the right axe because there's so much variance in quality and materials.

For electrics, what can I say? I'm a snob. For the most part I only play US made. My cheapest everyday electric is my American SG. My most expensive is my ES 335. I have a couple of really cheapos that I use for testing mods, slide guitar setup, etc., but I don't really count those.
