Man was I impressed!  These guitars are Less Paul copies, but for 200 and 250 they are Beautiful!  I played them through a Marshall Mig 20 or some such.  Holy Cow!  Then just to make sure I was not being over-impressed, I plugged in a $600.00 Charvell Less copy; I did not like it all that much.  It just didn’t play that great.  So I have GAS now. But it’s very affordable GAS.  I am going to try and hide it in that my son might want it also lolol, maybe we can get it in the hose that way.
I looked at the pics on the Peavey site and the photos just do not compare to the real thing. High gloss Tobacco burst was what I played but they come in black and cherry burst. (I might lean towards Cherry due to my loyalty to Ace, but he did play a tobacco one also)
I ended up being late for work because I was so soaked up by the darn things!  What I did walk out with was 12 new pics and 4 cables that were a buck each.  Great for my effects and spares. (They were the ones that the factory put in with guitars, not even opened)

This is the new and first solo cd by Tom Keifer.   For the non-metalheads Tom is the front man singer, song writer for the 80s band Cinderella.  Cinderella is still together, but Tom has put out this CD mainly cause the hard core Cinderella fans only want to hear the classics tunes and honestly the record companys had no interest in a new cd by that band.

Toms really into blues and streight ahead rock.  This CD is Tom and his wife and a bunch of friends he has met in his 10 years of living in Nasheville.  I just bought it.  IMHO not a bad track in the list.  great slide (as seen in many Cinderella cd's mainly the 3rd being Heartbreak Station, but I have been a Cinderella fan since the first!)  He has always been accused of trying to be Aerosmith,  He does not denigh that they were a huge influence,, but so were teh same classic blues  greats that Tyler and Perry listened to.
this is a quote from ALL Music dot com  " it doesn't feel stuck in the past as Keifer is tackling what it means to be a middle-aged rocker in an age where few care for what he loves. He doesn't pander, he doesn't sound bitter -- he's pushing forward, staying true to what he loves, never once thinking he's out of date. This is who he is: a man slightly out of time and a musician who's gotten better at his craft over the years, winding up with the best record he's ever made. "

I agree.

He was on letterman Tue night. this is the clip from the first song. Its the hardest on ont he record.  and thin the nextone is great but not hard.

Battery runs guitars EQ and Tuner. low bat, = fuzzy EQ.

I just thought of this,, you should introduce her to a fretlight guitar.  Then all she has to do is follow the LED dots on the fret board.  I think concidering the level of her challenge, it would be the best tool.  http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/FG507NA/ or http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/FG521SB/   and here is a list of stuff to learn with it,   the first 2 basic discs come with the guitar, then this one. http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/FVCINT101/   There are also artist series for blues and country to Pink Floyd and Black Sabbath.

Yeah, I'm thinking of leaving all the theory to the side. She progressed pretty fast though. We started with having fun when playing, we ................... being gifted.

I can tell you right now, THAT IS DYSLEXIA. and its not amild form.  I know, I have delt with it my whole life.  I was able to overcome it pretty much, but I still have to be carefull with my numbers.  I am a slave to my sheet music unless its an original song of mine. I cant get most theory becasue something in my brain snaps at certain points.  Two different test at two different ages. at 12 and 30.  Same thing happened at teh same part of the test.  the Doc had no explaination.
The fact is I think she has it pretty bad.  Seeing everything backwards, addmited needs pictures to really "get it".  Her first step to getting better is to face the brutal truth  " I am Dyslexic or have some type of issue"  Not to joke but its like AA.  you have to be aware of it b4 you can learn to fix it. Either that or its a form of Autism, where the person is so smart they have a hard time grasping certain ideas.
My wife has a special ed degree.  Did you know that even the very smart kids in the "Gifted and Talented" classes are also  Special Ed?
So just as Nela, Z, and BGD have said, your tying to acomidate her wishes, but it is too much for her to grasp.  She might have some OCD going also.  You need to get her to be honest with you if your going to progress.

I dont know all the notes on the neck, I got most the low E and A strings down since that is the primary strings for Root 5ths.  Have you showed her the simpl Barr of just fingers 1 and 3 (or the pinky if more comfy).  I can not play by ear cause the tones dont always compute,

I hope this helps a little. and best of luck to her.

Gus, ill give you the standard answer in this place.

play it with what you know. or take a friend who plays and check it out. My first acoustic was a Yamaha (so was my first bike too LOLOL).  if you think it sounds nice then its right for you.  I dont tend to get hung up on brand names.  Yamaha, Seagull, epiphone, dean. all good, I dont own a guitar over 400 bucks.

How about putting a post in the general section and tell us about yourself. the better we know you the more help you will get.  This place is pretty tight and we all want to help thoes who ask.  The trolls dont last long and neither do the jerks.  So welcome to teh best guitar site and fourm on the net.

Beamer,I think he posted it just too makeup a bunch of lyrics for a song,we have done this a few times in the past. Sometimes it just gets goofy wording etc. So it is mostly for fun.

Well in that case I dont feel bad about changeing it all up.  Im going to start working on a melody for it. but here is my arrangement of the words.
My girl has left me
I’m having so much fun
She’s gonna regret using me
But I’m glad what’s done is done.

She left me for another
Thinking she was right
I’m having so much fun now
I  can finally see the light.

It’s Time to fly , Like a bird
See me in the sunset
As I pass you by
Never again to worry over your evil eye

I may not be perfect,
And I don’t want to be
You won’t find another
Who loved you as me

I’m looking for a girl who can take me as I am
Sometimes I’m a sinner and an ornery man
All I have to offer is only all that I am.

How many verses are going for?  Where is the hook?   is it time for us to all make a copy and arrange it to each his own?  I did change a few lines below soit semed to flow a bit better, but nothing is in stone is it?  We have not seen easybeat since he suggested this. I think its his playground to say.

Im looking around for a girl just like me
I hope she don’t need money to please
And I don’t have to squint to see her beauty

There is something to be said for volume, though.   Guitars start to do odd and marvelous things when cranked up to 11.

But as TF noted,, when Im in the house alone,, all hades can break loose!

Or you could buy a Bugera 5 watt amp with the built in attenuator. .1 .3 and 5 watts.  At .1 I can roast the tubes at a pratice vol level. (I also run a MXR Full Bore into it to drive the tubes a bit more,or for a clean boost, I have an old Yamaha Compressor /Sustainer, I turn up the sustain and attack and pull down the output a bit, it really gives the clean a punch) smile

I thought I would put it in as the the first two verses.  I was actually thinking of the second as a chorus, but it turns into a great verse also.  I like where this is going.

I just use my 1 and 3/4 fingers (play the root 5th,,, so much easier!)   your 1 on second fret A string and your 3 on the 4th fret D string and your 4 on the 4th fret  on the G.  use tip of your index finger to mute the low E. look here in J guitar
http://www.jguitar.com/chordsearch?chordsearch=b5  or with out the 5th http://www.jguitar.com/chordsearch?chordsearch=b

I just let my index cover the whole 2nd fret with the tip still muting the E flatten 3rd finger across the rest. I dont ever miss that im muting the higher strings, in essence its still playing like its a 5th.

I do it like Nella.  or I copy and paste then adjust with word.
