Well triple J... it didn't work.  I sent you an email via skype.  Hopefully you'll get it ok (with the email address you have on file here at chordie) and we can get your skype working before the weekend!  smile

JX3 - I will add you to Skype now... but I won't be "presentable" on camera until a bit later in the day (was working till midnight and just on coffee cup nbr 1).  But we'll try it out at some point!!  smile

A problem?  Heck no!  It would be great triple J!

Toots... if you send me your snail mail address, I'll send you a webcam.  I have an extra one laying around here that I do not need or use.  wink  If you need a mic, I've got an extra computer mic laying around too.  Heck, I've even got a couple keyboards and a monitor... but those won't help you skype.  tongue

USUALLY, yes they do... but remember it will be growing back in from the top of the nail (the cuticle area), and they grow very slowly.  some of the old nail may also stay attached to the live nail bed as this is all going on too.  If you've damaged that area in particular where the nail BEGINS to grow, it is POSSIBLE that you may never have a nail again - but it's not that likely.  If it's still hurting pretty bad, you may want to go to the doctor sooner rather than later.  They can put a hole in the nail to release some of the blood underneith the nail - which is likely causing a LOT of pressure/pain.  Good luck.

FYI... Katie dropped a can of whipped cream on her big toe on Christmas.  It is STILL black under that nail at the cuticle area.  It hasn't fallen off, but it's still working it's way on growing out.  So, when I say it takes a long time.... it takes a LONG TIME!

If you're asking about copyright music, the answer is long and short at the same time.  The short is, the site name is "chordie" because what you will find is mostly chords and tabs.  So no, you are not likely to search for a song and only come across lyrics without tab or chords associated.  The long version is... none of that music is even hosted on this site.  Chordie works more like a search engine, finding the information hosted on other websites and reformatting it all pretty like and making it easier to find here.  There are some major copyright lawsuits going on around the world right now, so those who actually host copyright material could be in for trouble.  Therefore, nothing is actually hosted here and copyright lyrics cannot be posted within the forums either.  If what you're looking for is posting your own lyrics to your own song, then check out the songwriting forum on this site, or the poems section.  I hope my answers help.  Please, feel free to ask if you have other questions.

Oh... and welcome to Choride!!

Listen to true bluegrass, and help you out at the same time?  HECK YEAH!  And, I think we should all feel a little honored; Ido.  I think it's awesome that you've done this/are doing this.  What better way to give back to something you love than this?  Fantastic.

My lesson, along with all the above - make sure you change your default sound settings so that you can hear everyone through the computer's speakers... otherwise people could be talking about you or to you without your knowledge as your computer pretends you have a headset on.  OH... and I'm not sure but also maybe turn your computer's sound volume down while playing so there's not a ton of feedback.  I'm not sure how that sounded on your end guys, but there were a few times while I was playing that I was getting a bunch of feedback.  I turned my speaker volume down the one time, and it at least got rid of the feedback on my end while playing.  And - Skype handles USB mic changes pretty well on the fly too!  Just remember those setting changes!

It might.  Try plugging the camera into the computer via a supplied usb cable.  Most come with one.  Open Skype up, go to CALL then VIDEO then VIDEO SETTINGS .... see if it recognizes the camera.  If not, Choose Webcam and see if Skype can find it.  If so... you'll have picture on your screen without even having to connect to anyone.  If that works, make sure to add mekidsmom!  After I've showered, dressed, and look presentable I'll turn Skype on today while I'm able to be at the computer.  It may be on and off throughout the day - but we can test your video out if you get it working on your end.

BTW - you all might see me on Skype this evening around 5-12 but I will be set to "do not disturb" as I'll be using it to dial into a confrence call for work.  You can still send me messages but I won't get them until I change my status to available.

It was wonderful!  I must admit, I had quite a few drinks during the call and was feeling quite well by the end of it all.  It was so much fun being able to sing and play and drink with you guys!  Jim is already planning a song for next week; he was very impressed with how much fun it was and how well it all worked too!  I read a little on the Skype page.  As we suspected, only one person in the group has to have the premium (video group chat) for it to work.  It also says up to 10 people can join, but 5 is suggested for the best quality.  There are also some suggestions on that page for personal system requirements.  Folks with skype on their mobile phones won't be able to use the video feature but will be able to join in as a call only.  I agree with Jeff... milk that free trial as long as possible, one at a time.  The monthly rate isn't too bad, and in my opion it's more than worth it for the ability to get together like we all did!  When we do it again, I'd love for it to be a little earlier in the day.  I'll be working weekends starting this coming weekend - at 5:45 EST (-5GST), plus it'd be great for those 5 hours ahead of my time as well.  I am looking forward to the next one!  Heck... maybe we need to try a couple, Saturday AND Sunday!  LOL!  It was great!

OUCH!  Well, we'll excuse you if you can't manage to hold a pick and just want to sit back and "moderate" the jam.  That sucks!  I have managed to develop some serious fret buzz today.  My guitar is likely dried out like no one would believe, although it is laminate top.  I adjusted the truss rod a little and got rid of *most* of the buzz.  I guess I'll just have to sing louder to drown it out.

Oh btw - no work Sunday ... so I'll be on as long as the internet and kids hold out

I'm telling you, a woman will be furious if you said you were going to get bagles and didn't come back with any for HER, regardless of whatever else you came back with.  NEVER forget the bagles!  LOL!  wink

YES - if you have an ethernet cable and can plug it into your router, you'll have a far more reliable connection.  Check with your provider too... sometimes you can upgrade to a slightly faster speed for a nominal fee.  I just called yesterday to upgrade mine.  It was supposed to cost $5 more, and it turned out there was a promotion going on so upgrading actually LOWERED my monthly bill!  SCORE!  wink

Wow!  AWESOME ... that is all I can say.... AWESOME!

BTW Paul, I haven't played Crazy in a while... so I've been practicing just for you.  As you will recall last June, I kind of avoided the request.  It was on purpose as I wasn't comfy playing it having not done it in a while or perfected it to my liking.  I will keep practicing until Sunday and play it for ya!  wink

Just don't forget to bring bagles back with you... else you'll be in big trouble!

I don't have Pete or Paul in my Skype yet... I think I should keep it that way for the test, then we'll know for sure if everyone has to be added on everyone else's Skype or not.  We can always add people in on the fly!  smile

I will be there!  Or rather here, pretending I'm there.  I may have to start work at 5:45 - I haven't gotten the "for sure" that our new hours start this Sunday or this Monday, but at least I don't have to go anywhere.  I'll just have to sign off Skype about a half hour early to make sure I can get my computer set up to use it for work without any issues.  If I don't have to work until Monday night, then I'll have a drink in hand and plan to be on Skype until the last person signs off.  wink

Welcome to chordie Richie!  Not much I can say that others haven't... except that Chordie isn't your average "guitar forum".  There's tons of good, supportive, friendly people here.  Jump right in!  smile

OH and Nao - you can't be any worse than my husband was at the July Jam.  Not that he was aweful, but he was so nervous he just kept "messing" up and starting over.  No one was mean, everyone encouraged him.  It's just like here online.  You should play something.  With all the guitars you've got, I'm sure you can make some type of music - even if it's wrong!

I'm in, if the time works.  I've been working evenings lately and that will only continue.  At the moment I'm not scheduled to work this coming weekend but that will more than likely change in the future.  My skype name is the same as my handle here... I'm also on google plus although I rarely check in on it.
