Hi Des
welcome to you too. Dont worry if you think yer getting on a bit, there are a few that are getting on in years here too but no one holds that against them lol
Never too young or too old to contribute any wisdom to others, Or for getting help from others.

I still consider myself near perfect lol but even I still ask advice as well as give it.

Me too. I could not get into this for a while and hotmail.
As Al says, it happens. Sometimes a webmaster will be doing something and has to put the site offline to amend things, or sometimes the server that a website is linked to goes down.

It is annoying but just something I tihnk we have to accept.

when you are on the page you see the errors on, press PRint screen on your keyboard.
Then go into your word document and paste. This will give you a screeen shot ( thats what I see as a screen shot, maybe i am wrong?) then e mail admin with it.

why would you want to change them?

album?
I would have to say albums
John prine anthology great days, double cd. Drumming all the songs into me before the gig next Sunday.
Also Janes Addiction " up among the catacombs" a "the best of" from them
And another cd that I made up myself with  Proclaimers, Saw doctors, pogues, corries, great big sea, the Jam, slf, alarm.

And in the house I am listening right now to Pete Townsehend and Ronnie Lanes Album from the late 70's  "rough Mix"  Superb Album!!!!

lol hi John
Well, take it from me, use your capo a lot more!!
Even if you have a low voice, it can still sound in key with a capo on the 2 nd 3rd 4th or even 5th fret. The string ight sound higher, because indeed they are but your voice will be in tune with them. Or maybe be ,lol

I have been using my capo more and more so i do not strain my voice. I dont know if you have read any of my posts about singing nodules? but that is what you can get if you strain your voice. I neever got my nodule from straining but straining my voice while having a nodule makes it worse.

Sometimes I think I am not straining my voice when plying in open chords but still every song I am doing I am starting with the open chords and then trying it on every fret up to the 5th to see if I am finding it easier to sing. I think everyone should do this. you will be suprised at how many songs you will use your capo on.
I  find I mostly if using a capo put it on the 2nd fret. but then it all depends on what scale the song is in. I could transpose to make it better but transposing sometimes means learning other chords, so I prefer to use a capo ( lazy way I know but effective)

Old Doll sent me this link http://www.vocalist.org.uk/breathing_techniques.html
It is quite similar to the breathing techniques I am getting at speech therapy and I can say they do work. If you follw the steps you will find singing is much more relaxed.
Breathing is wonderful, lol. So I just discovered, even when talking.

yep, totally agree,
i had problems with this too, but practice really does work. I dont think I intentionally practiced this, it just comes thru time.
I have jsut really started using my thumb for a gentle sound strumming sound in the passed year.
If you want that sound but dont think it is loud enough then it needs amplified. Do not play it harder to get a louder sound, it ruins the sound.
I would never play using my thumb to strum when i play in the pub, I have not got my guitar amplified and would just make me strum harder and get the bum notes

Ken

I know that I am not good enough to be famous but I dont think I would want to be either.
I do it for a hobby and to entertain small groups without being paid. I would even want paid, I do it all for fun.
BUT, I have to admit, when I was 13 and started playing the bass, upto I was about 18 or 19 I was thinking I could be famous, then reality struck hard ,lol.
Good thing is I accepted it quickly, probably because I knew I wouldnt be.
Having a dream at an early age like that is good for the soul, it keeps you going, gives you confindence, get the opposite sex attracted to you which was not a bad thing, lol

But i thin kI would like to hear any of my songs become famous by someone else. Thats why I will let anyone use my songs. I dont even care about the royalties ,lol.
Ken

Dont try to be something your not.
dont keep wanting the things you aint got
keep trying to be good at what you do
keep your head up and you will pull through

( just got inspired there from Rocker's last bit in the post.)

By the way, Ken, I had a nice meal in the Tully Inn on Saturday night (3 main courses, 3 drinks - £30 since we're going into these things). After a day climbing The Cobbler. What a view we Never got. Stinker of a day. And then Sunday - glorious! Typical.

Al, that is funny. I was actaully going to go up there yesterday with my son and daughter, but my wofe was off work and talked me into going today instead with the kids, but that never happened either as my tyre got a big nail in it, couldnt get my wheel off to change it, phoned the AA, waited on them, went in a bad mood, went shopping, went home, spent an hour in balloch park then tried to do stuff on the computer with a buggered cam corder, so I have had a crap day!! and to make things worse, I have no tv, my digital box is knackered!! so played the guitar most of the day!! ( not so bad) we went to stirling castle yesterday, great day up there but a bit hazy, so glad  i never went walking.

I have still not eaten in the tully yet, but prices like that I think I should!! Me,wife and two kids went to that Princess rose chinese that got shut for food poisoning a few months ago, that was £65 for two adults, two kids ( tiny portions for them big prices!) one pint of lager, one wine two juices.
WARNING!!! rip off britain? the chinese heard about it and set up shop in balloch lol

Yeah I would go with vietnam too.
And about the argentinians "cheating" in the world cup? nonsense!! Diago got a cramp in his arm that day at that moment, lol, wasnt his fault ,lmao, I loved that game ( from a tatan army foot soldier's point of view. We still sing glory to this day to diago, lol)

WW2 though? soundtrack? hmmm, I just canny think of anything other than vera lynn, so I will have to give that era a complete body swerve.

the fawklands never really had a soundtrack to it I wouldnt think. There were bands against thatcher and her tory party at the time of that conflict, but no one wrote songs as strong as the vietnam war. Bands from everywhere wrote anti war songs then in the late 60's. But in the early 80's it was just about suppression and povery in britain.

rhiannon

At first I tried a few chords but got nothing but then I took Jerome's idea with Am Dm Em.

with strumming pattern  down down down up down played slowly

Am                                Dm
Lava burns through her aching heart
Em                    Am
Leaving a deep hole,
Am                      Dm
Crying, screaming for help
Em                             Am
She lies there on her bed.

Weeping for what might have been
Remembering the past,
Looking through old photo’s
Burning what she has left.

Em                       Am
Gathering her few belongings
Em                                   Am
Running, stumbling as she falls,
Em                     Am
Silver tears run down her cheek
Em                        Am
Sitting with nothing left.

then for a break somewhere and to finish the song

Am  Dm   Em  Am  X2
Am  Dm    Em   Em  Em

great song. Another for my list!!

I was not bored reading that.
You have a point on fuel, keeping it expensive will help the resources of it, even though we sell our north sea fuel to other countries much cheapness, lol.
Smoking for underagers is like drinking for them, if they want, they shall get.

£8.49 for a meal and a drink is quite good but was this at either the pizza hut buffet or a brewers fair place? I admit ye can get some good nosh from these pub chains, good as in bring it out the freezer and chuck it in the micro. As long as I dont see them doing this I dont mind what I eat.

I love Dublin too , but like you I was expecting too much of what I thought Ireland was when I first went. Still love the place though, especially temple bar and the late night kebab shop there, best ever kebabs I have ever had ( wouldnt be hard though as the kebabs round this place cater for the unhealthy glasweigans)
To see the "real Ireland" I am told I have to get my Butt to Cork. Lol.
reminds me, I got to go phone my mate there

problems already.
I got it recorded on my camcorder but that has decided it is not playing the game of working proplery just now. It does it every now and then after I try and zoom in.
But it will not affect it. I just cannot get it on computer right now.

And I do know someone that can play fiddle. My wife!! but she is not very helpful that way when it comes to me with songs unless it is one she knows sad

It might take a while but this is number one on my list of things to do regarding music/videos/guitars/computer.
