I first met Joe at a "Big Hugh-Baby Hop" in Villa Rica, Georgia. My High School

"Hugh-Baby" (Jarrett - one of the original Jordainnares) didn't make it that night (ran off the road, as I understand it), but later, I asked to sit in on drums that night. The featured artists were Joe South And The Believers

What else, "You Don't Miss Your Water", while I was at Muscle Shoals trying to get some tape-time with The Watchmen? I was the drummer but it never made an album.

That's as close as I ever got, except to know he was extremely OCD and would drink anything he thought would get him high. I cried when he died. Someone misunderstood [i]something[/i[.

I'm not asking much, and at only Stage IV of my dementia, maybe I shouldn't ask it at all, but when y'all do a song and link me to it, could you please tell me/us if it's a cover or not?

I'll tell you why, and this is no guano: Y'all are so good and I listen to the radio so infrequently that I have no idea if that's Alison Krauss  or our Amy who wrote that tune.

I've done it before - thinking something is original - an I'm sure I'l do it again and complicate stuff. See what I mean? THEN you have to come back in the thread and explain to me that it's NOT original, etc. etc.

Just a time saver, and just think: you'll be helping a guy who's batguano!!! big_smile big_smile

So who would be the singer/guitarists you'd like to see at a "Three-Star Concert" (or however many stars you want).?

1. David (of course)

2. Knopfler

3. Fahey

Don't even look at Rolling Stone's Top 100 Guitarists. They have Gilmour at #82 and Hendrix at #1. I give Hendrix his due, but I think he was mostly a shredder before shredding was cool (if it is, that is). I put John Fahey in there just because he represents the most eclectic of all three. He could just as well have played classical guitar (and probably does).

You?

EDITED TO ADD: This should probably have its own thread. Mods, would you be so kind? Thanks.

It's in the playlist to watch tonight after Amy's thing. It will be nice to end an evening with. wink

Thanks, Rick

Maybe a proclamation is in order? I mean if we're gonna put it in the vocabulary and all? We already have a Head Pickler, we might as well have our own musical language. Agree/Disagree? smile

Do they help support the site?

I keep forgetting to buy one, so the next time Dondra gives me my allowance. (I can't handle money anymore, either, friends. What's left from paying off my credit cards I usually spend on my grandson or buying birthday gifts and such), I'm gonna get me one of those hemp ones for $23.99 and when it's worn out, I guess I'll smoke it. smile

Be that as it may, you're gonna virtually slap me silly, but one of you (was it you, TF) sent me a green Kayaking T-shirt and I am not sure if you were ever thanked for it, so thank you VERY MUCH! It is hanging in my closet, not yet worn because my belly sticks out too far now (which I am correcting as I write).

SO if we make money off the sale of the shirts, I will definitely order one! Hell, they look so nice I'll order one anyway. smile

Thanks

Thank you, Sir. Yes, I'll definitely check out the logistics. Since the tracks were converted to a bike trail, I've been over it several times. The very first time, my then girlfriend had to LEAD me over it after I dismounted, it is so high. Yes, I see it as something the likes of this.....https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F0kiqmpA0ew

Too fast?

Thanks, my friend!

If so, I'd be interested in your cymbal set-up.

Sorry, mods. I know this is a hijack of sorts, but the drum sites I have visited have foul-mouthed kids telling me that "google is my friend" and other guano like that. smile

Thanks

For songs? It's next to that long alphabet thingie. Underneath on the right hand side. There's no all-inclusive search feature I know of here. As I have been told, and not always nicely, ""google is your friend". Don't you hate that?

Anyway, thanks for dropping in. Stay a while and teach us something!

Dear Amy and Jim (I'm not sure that's your husband's name, but anyway)

I am sure I speak for the whole Chordie family when I say thanks, you two, for putting together
your backyard fest and providing a great time for all of those who could make it there.

Having put together one of these [not a CHORDIE FEST] before, both Dondra and I know it ain't easy and you have the added responsibility of a little one to take care of.

So yeah, I can see why you love the guy you're married to and I wish I could be there to meet the both of you.

Have a great time

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

OMG! I never expected that one and had to hold my belly in not to laugh out loud and wake Dondra up! smile smile

Maybe I'm just an easily amused person.

Or maybe I feel like I'm sitting in a living room with some very warm and beautiful people making beautiful music.

I'd give it to you

If moonshine were wine, I'd pour it for you

If lovin' you Darlin'

Was all I could do

I'd do it, I'd do it, for you.

Another one I cant seem to start or finish.

This one's for my one and only love, Dondra, and I need to finish it.

I hope I always will be, Rick.

Now that I can barely even paradiddle a liddle, my instrument of choice - nope not that one either - is the guitar and songwriting.

That's why I like to pay close attention to you and the others and try to help.

And it is a good site, thanks to Herr Rickard Andersson, who supports it, so we do not have to.

All the best to you, Rick

He's very talented, as are all of you, easybeat.

Just think: If each of us took, say, a quarter of the people who send in songs/poems --- whatever ----- and listened - really listened -  we might come up with a new Beatles!

I was a DJ working my way through college in the late 60's - early 70's (long story coming up, so go brew your tea, you buncha......friends) and the number of 45's (anyone remember those) sent to our stations was phenomenal. AT least 50 a day trying to get some airplay, some sending notes, all of them hoping for that big break.

During my breaks, (when a record was playing) I'd always play one of the tunes they sent me on the turntable which wasn't playing and listen.

Usually, those folks sent a postcard for my reply.

Did any of them make it big?

Hellifino.

But I sure did send 'em a note on that card.

Every time. I felt if they cared enough to send their best to me, I owed them at least an honest appraisal and friendly answer.

Well, quit blushin' and start playin 'n singin',  dagnabbit ! (Our own Amy said that, so it ain't cussin').

Anyway, here it is almost 2 am on the day I get to see y'all on a live stream and I'm very excited about it. Multiply me times the number of our members we never hear from and who are lurkers (come out, come out wherever ya are), and you'll get some idea what a grand show this will be.

Hell, my toes are curlin' so hard from excitement that I'm doin' my Kegels without even realizin' it. smile smile smile

All kidding aside, I want y'all to have a wonderful time, and throw a drink our way, won'tcha?

Dino, dear friend,

Not surprised you never heard of 'em. They're a football team in my home country of Germany. I was born there and we emigrated in 1960 to the USA and here I am: A friend of yours! smile

Good luck to all of your teams, Chordie football fans!
