Bobwill - add me into your contacts list on skype - mekidsmom - so I can add you to the group, if we do end up with a group!  LOL!  Um... I'm thinking maybe 5PM EST - that way it's "only" 10 where Roger is so he can hopefully join and we'll go as long as we go!  wink  The hubster won't be joining as he's been working 12 hour shifts, but maybe my son will pop on.  As usual, I'll be running in and out taking care of my girls - and Katie will probably want to sing a Little Mermaid song for everyone (yes, she's still stuck on it).

Don't worry Jeff - I really need to learn some new songs too.  Same ole same ole... but hey, they're fun to play!  big_smile

Anyone interested in doing a skype jam tomorrow night?

I was supposed to work for someone else and wasn't planning to have the day off... but it seems that person MAY have quit.  So as long as he doesn't magically appear - I'll still have the day off.  So... who's up for a virtual Jam friday?

Grandma got run over by a reindeer, but my friend Ted has a very different story.  On his way home from the pub he ran from the law in his electric Pride Jazzy.

I did a quick search for electric wheelchairs and came up with "Pride Jazzy" as a model.  Good luck Zurf!

ALMOST the same model Dino, but not quite.

Zurf and Chris are right.  Be careful Nao!  From what I read, as of 2010 Martin started making ALL the 15 series from Genuine Mahogany (although I could be wrong, and MB may be right about it being 2011).  Either way, when they started doing this they "changed" the names of the models to include the "M".  I do NOT doubt one bit that the older models are EXCELLENT guitars, but if it's Mahogany you have on the brain, make sure you get the M.  Also, the older model 000-15 has the CIRCLE dot inlays (as in that craigslist post) and the newer ones like mine have diamond dot inlays.  The older ones have the paper model "sticker" on the inside such in the craigslist picture, the newer ones do not (the info is simply in the wood itself, no sticker to be found).

I looked all the differences up when I was buying mine to be certain that I was getting the REAL DEAL after Chris alerted me to the fact that many Mahoganny guitars are really sapele.  So keep your eyes open.  The older models went for around $700-800 new, the newer model will be found for $1100-1400.  $500 seems a nice fair price for that guitar, and again I say... I am SURE it's a great guitar, but keep your eyes on the prize as it seems it's the true 000-15M you're after!  wink

Good luck!!!!

Bad news is never good, "you likely won't make it out of this" is aweful.  Thoughts are with your friend and uncle.

I haven't been following along, but I'd heard there were some issues Gibson was having.  I'll have to remind the hubster to take a look into all this.  I know Martin makes a point to get their wood from sustainable forests... which is probably a matter of them owning a big portion of said forests.  I wonder about Gibson now.  I'm sure in the end it's all political.  Sadly

Very cool!  Thank you so much for sharing Z!  Music surely is powerful.  My daughter has mild autism.  She loves life, but when she sings a song that she adores you can really FEEL how much she loves it.

Auxi - I MIGHT have a solution to your problem, if you are interested.  Among all the odd things I have laying around and hidden in places in my old house is a pioneer cd player.  It has a ford kit on it, so it's ready to plug into a ford vehicle.  I don't know if Jeeps have the same connections or not, or if you're into disassembling and reassembling vehicle radios.  However, if you want it, it's yours.  Just send me an email with your snailmail address.  I have NO use for it, and 90% of people now-a-days don't either... except probably those like you with an older vehicle w/o a CD player.  wink

edit to add:  it's a radio/cd player... not just a cd player.  I used to have it in my taurus w/o a cd player.  It's powerful, my son (when he was under 8) blew my speakers out in my taurus years ago.

The hubster has my car these days.  Generally when I go somewhere I blare the radio (usually a country channel), unless the kids are with me, then I often have no choice but to listen to the Justin Beber CD over... and over... and over... and over...  roll

Congrats Jim!  I didn't think this was a new relationship... but honestly I thought you two were already married.  How nice to make it official on paper!  smile  Congrats and best wishes!!!

I tried to see if I could open the chat up... but I did it wrong.  I should have joined the call with no video and audio to chat - but I couldn't do that as I was already on a call.  I was sitting there going... "I can see they're still on, but I can't do anything.  I'd rather be on that call than this one"  sad  I guess I could have chatted with each of you individually, but I didn't want to distrub your playing and jam.  NEXT WEEK I'll be there!!!!

While sad, it's good to know that Tom's spirits were high and that he was at peace with his condition and the maker.  That certianly helps to make it a bit easier for his friends and family to miss him, and not be as sad for him.

Yup, what Russell said.  So if they're tabs you've figured out to copyright songs, you'll have to find some other place to host them.  Once you do though, you can come back here and use the links at the top to get to the resources and submit your pages to go into the index (note, they have to be in chopro format)

It actually looks fairly legit.  Basically you can expect to get your email inbox BOMBARDED with advertisements.  Also, free is only for the strings.  They are still requiring you to pay $2.98 domestic shipping and handling, AND they don't say what type of strings they are going to provide you for free.  So, it makes me wonder if they are just strings that normally cost around $5, which you could buy in bulk yourself and end up paying the same price as the shipping and handling ends up being per package of strings.

They also DO state that they will share your email with third party advertisers... so pretty much they ARE going to sell your email address.  You are NOT going to just get bombarded with adverts from them, but from everyone they make money off of by handing them your email.  I don't think it's worth it for $3 strings personally.

sad  So sad, I have to work.  It's some additional training that we're doing, I'm not taking phone calls.  The worst part is, I sat there for FOUR HOURS yesterday waiting for other people in the class to catch up.  It took them four hours to do what I did in 5 minutes.  sad  You might see me on Skype, but I won't be able to answer.  On the other hand, maybe I will chat with you all a little while you're playing if I'm just sitting there again tonight like I was last night.  Keep your chat open!  wink

Well honestly, nylon strings take forever to wear in until they stay in tune... about the time they do, it's time to change them again.  Be careful not to do the suggested stretch of the strings that you may see for steel as you an cause an uneven spot in nylons.  I generally would tune mine 1/2 step high upon a new string change, that way you MIGHT be able to get through one whole song before it's totally flat again.  sigh... the beautiful sounds of nylon can be worth it all though.

Amy, went to take pictures and found a skunk in my shed. I will put that on hold until a trapper comes and gets it.

I think that is an excellent choice.  I would hate to hear that the new Scooter got skunked... or you for that matter!

I can picture it now, (light flash from camera) "son of a!" - JX3 goes inside all stinky and the wife says, "Is the scooter ok?" ba ha ha ha!

So sorry to hear about your friend Jeff.  It seems today everyone knows someone that has passed from cancer, or is currently trying to fight it.  My sincere condolences, and hugs to you.

I didn't watch the video - but I went to Martin in PA last year.  It's my understanding all the guitars made in Mexico are made from HPL - high pressure laminate.  From everything I've read, Martin's HPL is better than your average laminate top.  The guy at the shop where I bought my solid top Martin said that he really likes the HPL, thinks they sound great, and agrees that the HPL is better than your average laminate.  I think the price absolutely makes it worth looking into for a quality guitar, but my personal opinion is that... if I want a Martin, I want one from PA where I saw the folks putting love into each and every one by hand.

Good to hear Butch!  Like many have said, your determination is an inspiration!  I'm happy to hear that soon you'll have a guitar in your hands again.  No matter how you play it, just having it there will be like heaven... perhaps a bit of hell too.  Keep at it my friend.  Can't wait to hear how things continue for you, on the positive end of it!  Don't worry a hair about the whining, we all deserve a little wine now and then!  wink

YAY!  I must say, the Skype Jams are helping me as well.  YES, I still get nervous singing in front of people.  Having screwed up a few times in front of you guys, my friends, makes me much less nervous about doing it in front of others... and therefore, more comfy.  GOOD FOR YOU JEFF!  Toney's a great friend to let you sit in too.  I'm still so sad I couldn't make it down there.  sad  It would have been UNFORGETTABLE!

WELCOME TO CHORDIE!

All good advise above.  Numbness is likely from the callouses forming.  Tingling could be from the blisters.  As for how long it'll last... that's a matter of you, your skin, how much you play, etc... etc...

Dean has a good suggestion - we do tend to fret a bit too tight when starting.  More pressure isn't always the answer, sometimes it's a matter of HOW you fret, where you fret, etc.

I second justinguitar.com

HAVE FUN!  We are often ready to move forward before our fingers are, but there's plenty of time.  When you're not playing and wish you were, try to brush up a little on music theory.  You'll get there soon enough, and then there will STILL be something to learn!  smile
