Solo acoustic reggae songs are tough - are you trying to retain the reggae feel or do your own thang with it?

Did some research. The guy that makes this guitar seems to do fret fanning on instruments that he builds for open tunings.

Here's an FAQ on fret fanning. Apparently it's an ergonomics thing:

Me and Mrs BGD are in the Virgin Islands on a sail boat charter for a week.

There's a guitar on board with a huge neck scoop. Almost unplayable. I'm going to attempt a truss rod adjustment via needle nose pliers - it's a baby Taylor, no hex nut, just a bolt. Wish me luck. smile

Pics forthcoming. smile

I didn't see this posted elsewhere so I thought I'd start a Hendrix birthday thread. He was a huge influence on my playing (and is the sole topic of my arm and back tattoos) - amazing to me that he was only 28 when he died. He did more in 4-6 years than many other guitar players do in a lifetime.

Here's my two favorite Jimi recordings. Hope you share yours. smile

For what it's worth, I don't agree with the "mic the singer" comments. If you guys are going to be doing a lot of unplugged shows you will want to be able to balance your sound acoustically. This way you can jam in parks, around camp fires, etc.

You might try a couple of things - 1. put her closer to the camera than you. 2. turn your sound hole away from the direction of the mic ever so slightly. 3. Pick lighter. These will all quiet you down and/or make her louder (or give the impression of her being louder).

He is using the G string for the bass line and the thumb is plucking all the bass notes. That's the reason. wink

Quibids is a penny auction site. It's basically gambling for products. Huge waste of time, huge waste of money, and the entire industry is currently under investigation by the FTC and a number of state Attorneys General. Run far away.

The need to apply pressure reduces greatly once you learn how to apply pressure. You should be able to fret a note using little more pressure than you use to type on a keyboard.

I'd start with lighter strings and once you get comfortable with basics of chording, start to mess with LH pressure and find the least pressure you can use while still making the string sound.
