Hi tony - You are right next door to me. I live right outside Winston-Salem. Next time you are in town, let's try to meet up for a little pickin and strummin! I've been to that GC a few times and wasn't thrilled with the salespeople at all. It's been a while, so maybe they have changed staff - glad you had a good experience. I've heard good things about Harry's Guitar Shop located in Raleigh. If you are driving back home that way, maybe you want to check them out.

I'm an electrician. My current title is Vice President, Electrical Division for a medium sized Industrial Contractor. My title allows me to play a little golf with clients now and then, but wiring stuff and turning on the switch is still where I get my motivation.

Happy NGD (new guitar day) tony! Posting pictures of your new acquisition is customary.
I don't own any nylon string guits, but I do have a Tak EF series steel string that plays like butter. Taks are great guitars that typically give a lot of bang for your buck.
As far as strings go, I am a huge fan of John Pearse strings (again - I have never played a nylon). I usually get my strings from this joint:

Great prices, quick shipping and great customer service.
Good luck, looking forward to seeing some pics!

Pedantic? Wow that there's a big word. You must be real smart, so I want to give you a warm welcome to chordie. Lord knows we can use some smarts around here.
I'm no theory genius, but I believe Russ made a typo. Here's how I play the C/G.

Re: Innocence panel will hear convicted killer (55 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
Tater's attorney hosted a victory party last night that I was very happy to attend. It was really great to see Greg and many other friends that I had not seen in a long time. Quite a mix of attendees, a group of old hippies from high school days joined by a bunch of law students, attorneys who fought for Greg and the former NC Supreme Court Justice I Beverly Lake who led the formation of the Innocence Commission that fought for Greg's freedom.
“It was the absolutely the most wonderful moment in almost a lifetime," Lake said of the moment when a three-judge panel unanimously decided there was clear and convincing evidence that proved Taylor is innocent.
Here is a news article / video of the event:
http://durhamcounty.mync.com/site/durha … ory-party/
And here is a photo from the party. That's Greg on the far right in blue. Chris Mumma (Greg's attorney) has her arm around the murder victim's sister Yolanda (who has always supported Greg). That's me in the background over Yolanda's right shoulder. The dude in the suit beside me is an old friend of mine, he is currently a judge, but man could I tell some stories...
It truly has been an amazing event. It has been said Greg is the first person in the history of the US legal system to be found innocent (as opposed to being found not guilty). His case and the NC innocence commission could be a model that will be replicated and studied in law schools for years to come.

Cam - I wish I had seen this earlier, even if I couldn't make it, I would have invited you to my place for a little strummin and pickin. Honestly, now that I am working again and on the road all week, when I get home on Friday, all I want to do is stay home. Hope you have a great time!

All right folks, this story / thread is pretty much over, but for those who have followed along, I thought I'd share this excerpt from a little conversation I had with Tater on Facebook earlier tonight. The support from chordians around the world was much appreciated.
I read the posts from you on Chordie(?) when I was in the joint -- my daughter printed them out and mailed them in. That really meant a lot. Thanks a TON Bro'.

Pretty cool interview on local radio today. It seems like Tater is handling his new found fame pretty well, has some good folks helping him and seems well grounded. Give a listen if you'd like.

Re: Innocence panel will hear convicted killer (55 replies, posted in Chordie's Chat Corner)
The evidence / witness portion of the hearing is done. Tomorrow morning will be the closing arguments and then it's up to the judges to do the right thing. The panel has assured us they will make a quick decision so (if justice presides) Tater should be a free man at this time tomorrow. I'm working in South Carolina now so I can't make it, but I sure wish I could be present to watch him walk out the door.

I'm not a performer, but I use an i-pod touch to link to my chordie songbook while I'm on the road for work and it works great, scrolling feature and all. I can't imagine why it wouldn't work velcro'd to a mike stand.

Welcom to the chordie forum Whaka!

Greg is finally getting his case heard by the 3-judge panel this week. Video of the hearing can be viewed here.

If everything goes well (and from what I've seen so far it is going very well), Greg could be released this week!

Phil, I don't normally read / respond to the songwriting forum, but I really appreciate those who record their originals. The talent here on chordie continues to amaze me. A most beautiful song and recording. It brought to me pleasant memories of my own mum. Very well done and I thank you for sharing.
