Since my Respiratory Therapist license is still current and I can practice here in the state of Georgia USA, I have decided to "practice" on myself and begin sleeping with oxygen at night. We have an old O2 Concentrator and a supply of  nasal cannulas with connective tubing, so I will begin tonight.

The reason is: I am on so many new meds since two weeks ago, I am not sleeping as well and am waking up really fuzzy headed, doing some really funky stuff like attacking the guy in our full length mirror. Yeah, I'm afraid it has gotten to that point, so let's try some good old OH-ZWEI and see what happens. I'll report back.

NELA? You on that gas too, and by the way, you need to report in more often, Bud o' Mine. I/We get worried when I/We don't hear from you.

Love you guys and ladies

I/We Bill and Dondra

PS: Dondra says to tell y'all she's doing great with no problems with the A Fib either here or at work. smile

Amy,

Those are some gorgeous pictures of the sunset and of all who took part in your party, but are there any of you anywhere?

All the up close candid's were awesome, and I really liked the tattoo Roger has on his arm. "Being true to our school", are we, Roger?

Need I guess who paid you that salary?

Good close-up of your man, there as well, Amy, those sunglasses suit him. smile

One thing I noticed we have in common: We keep our songs/chords in a notebook. I have my songs printed as boldly and as tall as I can so I don't have to wear my glasses. My regular glasses are tri's and reading glasses don't get me close enough to the music. And of course I can't trust my memory, so large, bold fonts is the way for me to go.

I'm so glad y'all had a great time, Amy, Jim, Steph and company, and that you let us "look in" which was the fun part for me. I am hoping Jim and I get to do "Rolling Stone" together one day, if he doesn't mind my "baying" the song out.

Love you guys and Dondra says, "Great pictures and a great, happy-looking crowd"

I have to tell y'all this true story which I turned into a "visual" joke......

My German Mom only went to about the 5th grade before WWII started and she had to go to work to help support the family, so she never got taught much human anatomy about where everything is, but whenever I'd get sick with a sore throat or cough, she knew Vicks Vapo Rub would help. However, instead of rubbing it on my chest, she decided to go straight to the *cough* heart of the matter, rubbed some between two slices of bread and made me eat it, not knowing that the trachea and esophagus went to different places.

But here's the punchline (and you'll have to suspend disbelief to get it).

When that stuff finally got to where it was supposed to go, I could breathe out of either end.

[points to butt and then to mouth, bending over back and forth]

Lord have mercy! There were some days I felt realy bad, but lied about it, so I wouldn't have to eat that awful stuff. God bless my Mama. She only wanted to make me feel better. smile

TF?

I'm hearing it as a song, with you slowing down at each "One of those's" and saying that phrase along with the next one and then beginning to play/sing again. Does that make sense?

Or, you may just want to leave it a poem, because the words are perfect. I wouldn't change a thing, and you know how picky I am about syntax and stuff. big_smile big_smile

Thanks, everyone. For Amy: There is a version without the crowd, but it will make you grit your teeth to listen to it, it's so full of errors. It makes me run around the room chasing my tail and out the house baying at the moon it's so bad.

Take my word for it, y'all. You want the crowd noise. big_smile big_smile big_smile

Um, Doug smile

Can you trnaslate that first sentence for me? Every time I think I might understand it, it escapes me. sad

Thanks

Thank you, Jandle. I see I didn't read thoroughly enough at the beginning. On my way to the Cloud now.

Heh-heh. You got 'em all in there, didn'tcha, Mazzy? All those vamps, undrequited loves, girls next door and Lady Marian herself. big_smile big_smile.

Did I miss any descriptions?

I like the lyrics so much! Now I'd like to hear the finished product!

All the best

This is the one that gets the silence at first, some uneasy coughing, some sniffs and then comes the applause!!!!

Nicely done, beestie.

"M for Maggie" is a tune I wrote (with apologies to Tompall Glaser who was the original artist) in anger at a then-girlfriend (inbetween marriages to Dondra).

I wrote it and then went into a studio and recorded it. My friend and I played with it and played and tweaked it and it still sounded like a smelly fish (let's say a carp).

Then I had this (then) great idea of making it sound live, even though it wasn't.

I have been so ashamed of it I haven't wanted y'all to see it, but now I am second-guessing myself again: have I shown it to you already? This is one of the most frustrating things about my dementia; "Did I dream that, or did I really do it?" or "OMG! Did I just pull out in front of that car???"

Be that as it may, this is a 2 week effort with me on drums and rhythm guitar. I know I slipped some notes, sorry about that. My first time recording and the guy wasn't exactly patient with me.

Tompall must've not felt too threatened, because he never got in touch.

The only reason the Cmag7 is in there is because it is an easy slide on the bottom A string on a ukulele between C and C7. It can be taken out all together and everything still works fine. If you want to transpose it,that is fine by me.

Well, I find myself either transposing or capoing a lot of cover tunes, but since yours is such a specialized instrument, I'd want to be careful messing with the chords too much, in fear of harming the tune's melody and charm.

MUSICATED PHRASE: "Don't Harm The Charm"

A pockitrockit might help with that. The mini amp just plugs in and you play over headphones. It what I use here at home a lot.

Would this be a viable way to help Grah1 be heard, BGD?

EDITED TO ADD: I just read the first two sentences. Y'all better NOT get me in trouble, now! big_smile big_smile

Doug,

Since gc124 is just joining "the world of guitar", and I myself have been in that state of being for quite a while, I was wondering if instructing  our new friend to learn the fretboard and the pentatonic scale is taught by us, or is it mostly an "it's up to them" kinda thing? I'm not being ostentatious, just curious.

If someone had come to me years and years (and years) ago and told me, "Here, you yoyo. That's the way you do it......." wink , I wouldn't have learned all the bad habits I developed.

Thanks

Bill

EDITED TO ADD: I love Mark Knopfler's playing, but I miss Dire Straits smile

I like getting them and oooh-ing and ahhh-ing just like everyone does at things one cannot afford.

You know: The Gretsch Silver Falcon, The Foremost Ultra-Musicated Les Paul guitar you'll ever find; only 10 payments of $12,000.00 a month..... (being facetious - as far as I know there's no Les Paul in the catalog for that much.)

But as I sat there, on my "throne" paging through the catalog (by the way, Peter, I saw your mic in there), I thought to myself, "Why isn't there a catalog for folks like me/us, who don't need anything that expensive, yet plays just fine?

So I thought I would post the question here: Outside of ZZMusic, AMS, Musician's Friend and their ilk, aren't there any catalogs which cater to us blue-collar folks?

Thanks

Haha! Of course, Peter, I understand. But please don't ever stop singing and playing. I look forward to the times when I get that notification - "Peter Benson has just added......." or however that goes. I did tell you I have you on my bedroom tv's YouTube wifi system, right?

That means all I have to do is bring up YouTube, hit "subscriptions" and there you are, all my friends on the tube; you, Amy, Russell, etc. - can't remember right now who else. And i have them all on auto repeat.

It's great and you be just who you wanna be, my friend!

Although Bill's point might be a bit obfuscated by his sarcasm, he's right on. Breath control is extremely important. During music school we did a lot of work on this - voice majors had to take classes in it.

Always welcome, Rick.

Re: Lung Capacity (Tidal Volume too). Same here, and I've never smoked. I find myself speaking like John Wayne (favorite movie star - note I did not say actor). Listen to him sometime. You'll hear him running out of air during his speaking. I used to think it sounded cool, until I learned it was short-timed air hunger.

Let me/us know how you do, my friend.

This is too funny not to share: Here is BGD original quote:

No I won't be a dad again. Was just being a smartass.

Here's the way Bill's eyes and brain interpreted it:

No I won't be a dad again. Was just being a mattress.

All we would need the lawyer for, would be if one of us wanted to do a cover, as I see it. If it's all original work - no problem. Also, y'all would want this to sound as clean as possible, right? So why not let me find us a producer/studio that will donate the work? Unless one of US has one.

Also, my friend is a publisher. That just came from a thread about him. We don't need his publishing services. I'd just like to help make this thing happen. Call it a bucket list thing.

I can get most of our answers off the net. smile

Thanks

THE OTHER "PUTZ" STEPS UP : From reading TF's post up top, I see that I may have shot myself in the foot by over-explaining (or explaining at all) the rules here on Chordie and how we are expected to adhere to them.

I then "picked up" said shot foot and crammed it into my mouth by writing out some kind of lame "treatise' regarding my "philosophy" on the rules, trying put a halo on at the same time. (anyone "seeing" this yet?). When a close friend of mine pointed out that I, myself was guilty of using less than polite language in some of my postings, I went and got a sledgehammer, stood in front of our mirror and like Wile E. Coyote, pounded that foot in even further.

The foot by then had cleared my lips and was  snugly seated on top of my esophagus.

"I need some relief", I thought to myself, being that I couldn't actually say it, you see.

So in order to set things straight, I asked that the thread (essay -- whatever) be deleted, and after much thought, came here to stand beside my friend TF for support.

I hope that all is well now and there's another thread on the cd subject in "About Chordie" if anyone still wants to be a part of the project.

Oh yes, the foot: I finally removed it with a tube of KY jelly and a great big burp, the gas of which blew my foot out the window. I'll be shopping today for a new one - one guaranteed uninsertable.

High Five and a Brotherly Hug to ya, Rick aka TF

Just in fun, Jim, but wow! What a fine looking sports CV! You must be very proud of your history; I know I would be.

If I may, can I show an excerpt from my memoirs?

============================================

When we emigrated from Germany, I was told by my Dad that I could "go out" for football, as the following week the teams would be chosen, an A and a B team.

As I walked onto the field, imagine my surprise (I was only 11) when I saw  like 25 boys wearing what looked like back and/or shoulder braces under their shirts. Oh man! I instantly felt sorrow and pride for them, but as I began to see more of them entering the field, I began to wonder if I were at the wrong school?

I began to walk towards the coach to explain when something hit my foot. I looked down, and there it was, the thing that was the portent of 7 tears of pure hell for me: The American Football.

"Hey, kid! Throw it back!", came a voice from my right.

I picked up the ball, turned it over in my hands, wondered what had happened to it and how to throw it, when the sun suddenly eclipsed on me. I had been pushed down from behind by the master architect of those seven years - David P: School Bully........

========================================

So that was my introduction to American football and the American football. big_smile big_smile

And welcome to our own little thread, TIG! I look forward to interacting with both of you, but I only follow FC Bayern - M
