You can also soak your finger tips in rubbing alcohol.  yes it dries out your skin,,, but that is what your trying to do. it helps the calus build faster.

I have friends in a professional cover  band. It is not aginst the law to play them as a payed band,, only to record and sell with out copywrite permissions IE Royalities paid.  In a jam session covers is what its about and then taking it to another place with each person being able to take a solo if desired.

Bounce past the ID10Ts at the beginning and listen to the music at 2:02. Very blusy

http://ovationfanclub.com/ for all your Ovation questions. I made a note some time ago that Ovation fit the following at the factory ( not sure where I got this info)
6-string: D'Addario EXP16 (.012-.053) Phosphor Bronze
12-string: D'Addario EXP38 (.010-.047).

I have D'Addario Custom Light, 11-52 on my Applause (a budget ovation, its old and action quite high so I wanted something light) and something fairly standard 10-47 on my Pacemaker 12 string (not Martin, their basic strings don't seem great). Never took to coated strings

Hey Mine is a PACEMAKER also! cool!

(this could go in the recording section  also but its not so much all about recording)

...... your computer glitches after 3 hours of work and you loose everything!

A week ago, I got home from work, loaded up Audacity, ran a patch from my digitech into the mixer, recorded a 3:45 min drum track (after an hour of messing w/ levels and bpm)
then a few stabs at playing a Bass line (just hanging on that dropped D )

I was about to save project and my whole D@mn computer locked up!  Could not save, couldn't ESC nothing.  I had to Hard boot it!  lost all of it!
It was then 4:45 in the AM and I had to get to sleep. Man was I angry.  I swear I think I was actually playing in time at 130BPM for the first time ever! And I thought the riff was pretty d@mn cool!

If you can imagine it think RATT https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m_gGWsqd8Ec   blended up with Alanta Rythm Section,  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6k57_67AEOY

With the guitar I'm pounding on the dropped D (a'la Ratt)  then hit a barred Em7 (7th) with a hamer on > and cant decide on weather to do the A13 like in Spooky or use just the D6.  That's the main riff.  then C5 to A5 B5 and back into Em7

I was doing a track for track so I could send them each to Jerome to mix down for me (Hey Jerome! I need to send you more stuff when I get the chance to do this again!LOLOL)

Well I just was thinking about it and thought to tell you guys about it.

Later.
Beamer.

Yep hang from walls!

Thanks for the tips and insights, everyone.

Perhaps I will just leave it as is. Sounds like I could create some irreversible troubles.

Just clean it up like I mentioned. For polishing my frets, I tape them all off like all the vids will show you, If you need to use sandpaper, start with the lightest method first , but 1000, 1500, an if you really want to make it pop, 3000 for me are usually enough.  Then use a good metal polish. My personnel favorite is S100 Total finish restorer. (I use it on my bike and my guitars!) After that is all done, and polish is removed (watch the tight edges where compound and polish like to hide), I use mineral oil on my rosewood.  You will hear different opinions but most tend to either go mineral or lemon.  They soak in nice and buff to a nice luster. smile

Worn areas are a guitars badge of honor. I say don’t mess with it. Just buff it with some steel wool, use 0000 with some metal polish, on your frets. Be sure to tape the wood off.   Soak the wood with lemon or mineral oil and buff with a micro fiber rag.  It will look brilliant!

After having the silk and steel for a while, I can say I dont like them very much, but ill deal with them.  I go back to a bronse set again for sure for the rich tone.

James, Im basically self taught in my guitar (and it shows cause after 30 yrs most kids play better than I LOLOL)  I just start by writing what hits me.  To be honest its usually angry stuff and I write to get it out.  how ever I write some fun stuff and sentamental things also.

As to how, let it flow naturally, start humming and then the chords put them selves where they need to be.  Some times I can not get the chords,  That is when I come here and ask one or two of teh guys for help.  Ill ask for a certain sound/mood and say minor or major.  If I knew Theory I would be so better off.  To quote Sean Connery's character in Finding Forester "The only way to write is,, to write."  so I do. even if it sucks, i have scraps of stuff that I save and sometimes I jigsaw 5 yrs of scraps together.  They take me in directions I dont expect.
Hope in some way this helps.

Oh and welcome to a great site!

this has been one hell of a tough year.  Although rumor has it that we mayhave a acceptable contract offer coming up, that being said, we get a sign on bonus.  maybe it will be enough for a trip for two after paying off some stuff.  Wife says I never take her anywhere ...... (that she wants to go) ... well maybe St. Pete will be alluring enough?

just call comcast and they will walk you through it.  I think they are talking about the button on your laptop that should have a picture of an antenna on it. on my dell its the F2 button you hold teh function button (Fn) and tap F2 and your wifi light should come on.

when in doubt, call comcast.  they helped me put in a new 3.0 modem and that took us about an hour on the phone.
