While reading an issue of GuitarWorld I stumbled onto an article about i-phone apps. While I don't have an i-phone, I'm intrigued by anything that has the word free in it. Turns out this one app also is available on line for your computer. Wolfgangs vault is loaded with free classic concerts, and also has a huge selection of classic posters and other rock memorabilia for sale. And maybe some of the more mature members (I hate the word older) will remember Crawdaddy magazine. They also have a link to the on-line version. I just spent a very enjoyable morning listening to Boston, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Blackfoot and the original Skynyrd line up. And did I mention that it's free? Go to www.wolfgangsvault.com and check it out. Hope some other Chordians enjoy it as much as me

Here's a site I found that I've found very helpful. Tabnplay lets you insert a URL for your favorite song, converts it into an easy to follow format showing a guitar and lighted dots on the appropriate strings and fret positions. They also have videos showing chord positions. Before anyone gets too excited this site is still under development and not everything or all songs are available. Still a great site and it looks to only get better with time. Go to http://www.tabnplay.com/  Check it out you may find it amusing if not helpful

Don't worry. This is going to work like a charm.  (yeah right)

I appreciate all of your responses. Greg's funeral will be today and I know the knowledge that this is the final goodbye will be tough. However I also know that he would sooner have his friends get together and have a few drinks and swap some stories of days past than sit and wallow in sorrow. He was a great guy, always willing to help someone and asking little or nothing in return. So life goes on and I'll try to be there for his kids and wife if and when they need me. Again thanks for your kind responses

Sorry I can't come to this. Sounds like fun,but unfortunately work has to come first. Anyhow here is a link that may help you future slide players www.slide.neonblade.com Looking forward to some pics and video from this event

On Friday June 24 I lost my friend of 48 years. I met Greg on the first day of elementary school in 1963 and we were friends for nearly 50 years. Greg died Friday of ALS (Lou Gherigs Disease) and the flood of emotions has been a real rollercoaster ride. Dispair, knowing that I'm never going to see him again,Grief for his wife and kids whom I love as my own,and relief knowing that his sufferings are over. I had many opportunities in the last 6 to 8 months to go see Greg and spend some time with him but I always found myself saying I'm too busy. People, especially you younger members, remember life is but a fleeting instant and try to fill your time with the people you care about and make time for those old friends that have made a difference in your life. Over the course of the past two years I have laid to rest 8 different people that made a difference in my life. Of them all, this will be by far the hardest

Maybe I'm predjudiced but I believe that Ovation makes the best of both worlds. Having been an Ovation player for the last twenty years I have used it both plugged in and unplugged. Plugged in the only time I've had any problems is not putting in the cover for the sound hole and getting some feedback due to amp and monitor placement. Unplugged it has good natural volume and tone. I think that the older Ovations are superior unplugged over the new ones due to the fact that the new ones use soundports instead of a single larger soundhole.

I am humbled this morning after my Steelers shot themselves in the foot (and possibly some other places also)Congrats to the Packers and all the Cheeseheads. It's been a long time between championships (the big one anyway) and the Pack is deserving. The Steeler nation will just have to wait till next year for number seven

I don't think the Pack has what it takes to get a win on Sunday. The butterflies will be flying, the Steel Curtain will be coming down and the Steeler's will be Knockin on Sevens Door. Seriously the Packers are a good team or they wouldn't be where they are but the Steelers have the edge due to experience and the pressure they put on opposing QB's. I look for a great game and unfortunately the end of the football season. GO STEELERS

I lived in Philly for a year or so. If you do get a chance to break free,go down on Oregon Avenue. Bars and music all over. You do have to be a bit selective as there are some rough places, but most places are pretty decent.

I liked this guy so much I did a little quick research and found out that he Uses a Roland Cube amp set to the tweed setting and is tuned G G B. He's using an E in the A position, D in G and G in B. This guy is really pretty well known and has released some albums ( CDs to the younger crowd). Thanks again Zurf

Great videos and great performances. I had to check out some of his other stuff and was really impressed. I can no longer use " I broke a string " as an excuse to stop playing. Thanks for the link Zurf.

an oil based conditioner shouldn't hurt the finish as the lacquer clear coat should protect it. I'd be careful on areas where there is no lacquer (the fretboard especially) as oil of any type will soak into the wood eventually softening the wood. Personally I think I'd use saddle soap as you can apply it more evenly than some type of oil

Speaking from experience I know how hard it is to lose friends. In the past two years alone I've attended three funerals for people that I was proud to call friend. It's never easy but now I think back on the positive things and realize how blessed I really was. My thoughts and prayers are with you Zurf, may the good times you two shared live on in your heart and memory forever. Take care

Went and checked out this very cheap axe and was surprised. This guitar actually played pretty well and will be even better with new strings and some adjustments. The amp feature is very basic with only volume and tone control but has a very clean sound. So I flipped the guy his twentyfive bucks and brought it home. The wife thinks I didn't need it ( and I probably didn't) but I couldn't pass it by. I'm going to try and expand my limited computer skills and use my wife's digital camera and try to put some pics of this and the it's brothers on here. Now according to my wife I owe her something new or at least dinner out(she insists that it not be a fast food place- what's up with that) Anyhow it's NGD

Was browsing a local ad website and came across an ad that said simply "nice geetar" ( actual spelling used) Curious I clicked on it and saw a picture of a pignose strat copy. Some of you may remember my post on these guitars. They have a built in amp and speaker and the hardest ones to find are the strat style. What really hooked me was the price-$25.00. Yeah twenty five bucks. I called and talked to the owner and he said he has had this about four years and had always intended to learn how to play it but somehow it never happened. So after getting directions I'll be heading up his way today to check it out. Hopefully it's not a piece of junk but with a price tag that low who knows. I'll update this when I get back and see if it's new guitar day

Here's a link to a site that has video lessons, contests, forums,a store and much more. This may be of special interest to our friends on the other side of the pond. www.licklibrary.com   Not sure if we Yanks can purchase things from the store but a really good site none the less

Thought it may be fun to try a little game similar to "Don't Forget The lyrics". Someone gives the start of a verse or chorus and somebody else has to finish it correctly. No prizes just bragging rights. I'll start with something easy to get it going.       "Living on spongecake  watching the sun bake.........    And the finish is?

Happy belated b-day Zurf and congrats on the purchase. I had a Seymour Duncan at one time, although not the woody. Mine looked more like a single coil and sounded more like a tele. I gave it to someone when I got my Ovation. Anyhow have fun and watch those oxymorons

I don't know how many MMA fans there are on here ,but the Lesnar - Velasquez fight last night was pretty brutal considering it only lasted a little over four minutes. If anyone is interested you have a short period of time to view a video of the fight at www.ewrestlingnews.com. Yes I know it says wrestling but the people that run the site also cover MMA. I don't know how long the video will be up before UFC makes them pull it so if you want to see it you better hurry. I really enjoy MMA as it is pure aggression and mayhem. (that would be my caveman side emerging) Anyhow hope some of you Chordians enjoy it

I heard that Neil and Stephen Stills are reuniting and doing a tour as Buffalo Springfield. I'm not sure if any of the other original members are participating nor have I heard of any confirmed venues or dates. Anyone else hear anything about this?

You can always use the low E.A.and D for fishing leaders. Cut them to length twist a loop in both end and add a little solder. Works great

Downsize. If you can't afford it,get rid of it. Nothing personal intended here but if the common people can't afford something they do with out it. How many homes does one actually need anyhow?
