Wow ... amazing Russ ... I've had some minor unexplained "abnormalities" that couldn't be explained ... when I was stationed in Enlgand (East Anglia) a few cops were posted at the gate to RAF Feltwell (part of RAF Lakenheath), I was checking up on my guys and we were B.S.'ing outside the gate shack ... it was around 1-2 a.m. ... all of a sudden the sky seemed to light up, and I looked to the right and it looked like a meteor was coming towards the gate shack ... we were all standing there watching ... it came quick, nothing slow and passed out and above our gate shack ... we were all waiting to hear an explosion, like it hitting the ground, but no sound ever came ... I remember we kept saying what the hell was that? ... it almost looked like it was a meteor, tail trailing behind etc ...

But also all over East Anglia there are so many Anglo-Saxon grave sites that have been built over that there's hauntings all over the place ... alot on RAF Feltwell that other cops had passed on to us ... pretty interesting stuff nonetheless

Now if it was titled, "Why I hate rap", you'd have a long laundry list of ideas

I agree Zakk couldn't replace Randy but keep in mind they play totally different styles ... I love Zakk's "raw power in your face" playing

This will probably help out more than any of us can explain; I think he's an excellent guitarist

I play the majority of my stuff on my Les Paul ... my other two guitars are my Schecters (Hellraiser C-1 FR and Omen-6)

Schecters run anywhere from $300 - $800 ... they're geared more to the Metal/Heavy Rock tones ... they come with EMG humbuckers which sound great ... on my Omen-6 they come with the Seymour Duncan's but I prefer the EMG's ... the only negative I've seen so far is the balance ... they tend to be a little head-heavy (especially the Omen-6, not so much on the Hellraiser) ... the actions are very fast on both guitars ... they're made in Korea but assembled in the U.S. ... the craftsmanship on it is top notch ... especially on the Hellraiser ... the flamed maple top is beautiful to say the least ... the pearl gothic cross inlays on the rosewood fret board are beautiful

I did try the PRS SE at GuitarCenter and it was awesome ... the balance was perfect ... sound; beautiful ... and a great price for under $500 ... that's my next purchase later on

Sweet Jerome ... Iguana's in TJ ... that mean Tijuana?  lol ... if so, I bet both JA and SD were awesome ... I love local bands and cover bands playing in local bars as well ... in Destin, Florida at Fudpuckers they had a cover band (Misdemeanor) that played great ... beach bars are great for outdoor sets

Same here Russ ... I'd love to listen to it

I'm sure everyone has a "First" concert they went to and a "Best" concert they went to ... what are yours?

Mine:

First - Iron Maiden / 1992 "Fear of the Dark" tour with Anthrax "Persistance of Time" opening in San Antonio, TX .. absolutely loved it and I'm going to see them again on May 21st for the "Somewhere Back in Time" tour

Best - The Cranberries / 1996? "No Need to Argue" tour ... simply amazing ... they sound just like they do on CD ... and Delores and the drummer were lights-out

Anastasia

Tom Petty songs are great for playing with nothing else ... specifically "Free Falling" sounds great ... I play along alot with the music from my PC, I'll play without anything, and I'll play with a buddie of mine ... alot of country songs sound good just by themselves ... anything by George Strait, Kenny Chesney, is a good start

Wow pix that was awesome of you ... I pat you on the back for that ... that's VERY commendable

I have to agree on the rap one ... although I must admit I listened to it extensively during my high school years in the 80's ... once the 90's hit  I stopped listening to it altogether and went back to my rock roots tongue

Ps Tim0473, no need to panic, nothing ever falls from an empty nest. lol

Well thats the news for now.. No offence  meant, just jesting with ya.

lol thanks doll!  I could go on about the time I was little and got myself stuck in a wicker hamper (laundry basket) and poked my finger through the hole, which quickly became stuck, only for the baby sitter to keep yanking on my finger till it swelled, and a frantic call by the neighbor to my mother who was playing bingo to come home because something happened to her son ... taking her son, who mind you was taking a bath at the time when he decided to climb into this hamper, naked and wet with his finger poking through the hamper to the emergency room while still in the hamper and the doctors laughing hysterically

Thank God I am still to young to remember all of this although I remember my finger through the hole in the hamper

Exactly Rachael ... you'll have to listen to the song you're playing ... alot of the current acoustic songs I play are based on a strumming  pattern while some are "one strum" and a pause until the next chord is played

Some songs you can do your own pattern to it ... you can play a single chord that is strummed once, pause, wait for the next chord, strum it up-down-up-down, wait for the next chord ... it's all based on strumming patterns ... you'll be able to hear the patterns the more you play ... it's not something picked up right away ...

www.justinguitar.com  is a great site to learn strum patterns, that's where I learned mine from and it only took me a few weeks to learn the patterns but they came in very handy ... the more songs I played (especially country songs) the more the strumming patterns became natural to me

Probably going to a high school dance ... leaning against a wall and noticing two chicks checking me out ... thinking to myself yeah I look damn good only for one to come up to me and say, "Ummm your zipper is wide open"

Yeah ... mortified is an understatement

I went a few weeks ago to Guitar Center and tried the PRS SE ... the price was excellent ($499.00) ... the balance and sound was beautiful ... the feel, perfect ... the only thing that irked me was the action on the neck; moreso maneuverability ... my hanrd would not move smoothly up and down the neck (on the back of the neck) ... it would "stick" when I tried to move it ... then again it might have been it was fresh out of the box as well ... but I intend on buying this one later on down the line

DC ... instead of software, I use this site:

http://www.guitarinstructor.com/

It might not be exactly what you're looking for (depending on your musical taste) ... I've downloaded songs w/o guitar, vocal, etc ... specifically Scorpions, and Judas Priest so far ... the quality in the music is great and I'll play with the song and take over the rythym guitars ... you can also download video instruction as well as the actual song book guitar tab from the artists ... the price range is typically 0.99 cents for a song download to $1.99 for a video

Hope this helps

For under a grand and the style your looking at, I would suggest an Epiphone Les Paul Custom ...

http://www.guitarcenter.com/Search/Defa … e+les+paul

You can find a variety of Epiphone's for a great price ... the customs are toward the top end but there's still a great price range with the Studios and Standards

Doc

I was thoroughly impressed from the demo's I've seen on the Robotic Gibson ... being able to go from Drop D tuning, to Standard tuning, to dropping a 1/2 step or whole with a turn of the knob is great ... I know there are people who despise that idea and only want to do it by ear, or those who think that by buying your selling out for not tuning your own guitar, etc ... I love the idea that I dont have to stop what I'm doing, break out my tuners and switch for one song, then turn around and do the same thing over and over ... currently I have my Schecter Hellraiser w/FR Termolo that I keep in standard tuning since it's too much of a pain in the butt to keep changing the tuning ... my Les Paul Studio I leave in standard tuning and my Schecter Omen 6 I leave dropped a 1/2 step ... I'd trade all of them in for one Robotic just to have the luxury of drop tuning with the turn of a dial

But again, these arent for everyone ... I love Gibson Les Pauls so I'm more inclined to be "pro-Robotic"
