Remember, fellow Chordians that I am not a Johnny Come Lately Jet fan. I am a professional when it comes down to knowing how to suffer better than most.  40 years of hope, excitement, and promises to be followed by certain heartbreak makes for a very humble and "non-cocky" fan.

We had to endure Shula's mud bowl in the 82 AFC Championship game, with 3 INT's by AJ Duhe.  Then the following year Ken O'Brien being drafted before Dan Marino, who consistently whipped our asses, including the infamous fake spike touchdown.  Losing to Denver in 99 AFC Championship, Missed FG's by Doug Brien in the playoffs against the Steelers....there's countless more.

Rex has made it fun this year, but every team will be gunning for them.  This week against the Fins promises to be a war, as was last year's MNF game which went down to the last minute.  Two good defenses, average at best offenses, I would bet the under myself.

Bottom line? With a glass of wine or a cold beer, some tasty snacks and a big screen TV, what's better than a Sunday afternoon and football?  And a small suggestion for Badeye, you need to watch more "chick flix" with the wifey on Saturday nights... it pays off big on sundays!

That sounds like the Patriots from 1960 until 2001.  The Jets did make history as the first AFL team to win a Super Bowl in the greatest upset in Super Bowl History.

I stopped watching in the third quarter, got a glass of wine, picked up the guitar and strummed away for a bit.  It looks like the Patsies are back. As for the Jets, lets see, top receiver, Braylon Edwards arrested for DUI with a blood level of 1.6.   Revis out with a hammy.   The Jets better be careful, they don't look like a team that can cash that Super Bowl check promise.

Forget about Tuesday morning, that loss took til Sunday to get over.  What a disappointment. Good run defense was the only positive.  Today will be another test against Beli-cheat and the Pats.

And my worst nightmare, the Dolphins are 2-0 already.  Waaahhhhh

Oh get over it already.  That was a couple of years ago.  tongue  And your jets never did such a thing.....

Seriously:  It's a game of oneupmanship and your precious jeeeeeeets are a reality tv show.  Joe Namath has got a ring and he talked smack and delivered.  When the current Jets cash the checks they are writing I will accept them as the better team then the Pats.  If "Sexy Rexy" wins a Super Bowl I will apologize.

As for "Beli-cheat", yeah he got caught, but only because "mangenius" couldn't pull it off!

Just came back from seeing Chad and Jeremy at the Fryeburg Academy Performing Arts Center.  This is not from that show, but, very similar.  They looked and sounded great.
Great music, great stories and some funny jokes.  <bliss>

oz if you have any tips on thumb picks I'd appricate it. I tried them and it was a mess!

Not sure if this will be any help, but here goes.  I took up the thumb pick for doing bass strum rhythm's, as just using my thumb wasn't loud or clear enough in my group string band class.  The trick for me was finding one that would stay secure on my thumb without cutting off blood flow or be too loose that it would fly off.  Plastic is ok, but, I prefer metal ones as I can adapt and bend them to suit me.  The same would go for finger picks, metal over plastic.  I get a better clearer sound when I do play with others in the class.  (consisting of mandolins, violins, banjo's and the occasional ukulele and accordion.)

I have tried regular picks for note playing, but they are awkward for me.

Hope that's helpful.

Badeye,,,     cool

Me too. I used to go to the games when they fans were wearing bags on their head.

2 and 14 seems like a lifetime ago

I remember 1 and 15 around 1970 or so.  Their unofficial nickname was the "Patsies".
So bad for so long.  Then they got a good owner.  World of difference.

Kudos topdown!  And think of the money you can spend on other things like music and fun stuff.

I grew up in family of heavy smokers.  When we sold the house and started cleaning the paint work, I was shocked to discover that the color was white not dull yellow.  Never touched the stuff myself, but as a registered nurse, it still amazes me how many nurses and doctors still are addicted to nicotine.

Tom Rowe, a member of my favorite folk group, "Schooner Fare" died of throat cancer.  He was a smoker and younger than me.

There is no such thing as a "stupid question".   smile

I play a lot with a thumb pick and sometimes I will use that to play individual notes.  IF there's not to many.  It all depends upon how you feel and what works.  There's some great advice in this thread.

Hi Roger!

Awww, it's kinda nice to know i've been missed!  My guitaring has come on lots since i was last here. If i remember correctly, my last postings were about me 'hitting a wall' with my progress.  Since then i've been learning some theory on scales and such. My husband has also been learning to play bass since January, and has made such good progress we are able to do a little jamming together!

Thanks for the info, I'll keep my eyes open when I'm around.  Those spambots are getting sneakier and sneakier.

This is a problem on all forums across the board.  On an Asperger's forum where I was the one and only  admin,  it got so bad I nearly resigned.  But, the owner updated the forum and made it difficult for casual spammers to flood on.

Sounds like a great time and a memorable one!

Just one slight problem, 59 ain't no old fart.  grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr  I turn 55 in two weeks and I maybe be old, and fart a bit, just don't call this fart, old.  wink

Seriously, since I started taking up the guitar, I feel more like 20.  smile

Congrats on the graduation of your daughter Ozymandias!  My oldest is just entering high school this year and it seems like yesterday he was just entering pre-k.  I have one entering kindergarten this year, and I still have one more to start pre-k next year though... so I've a way before I get them all out of the house wink  I'm sure I'll cry my eyeballs out when the last one goes... but for now, I'm enjoying being home with her (most of the time I enjoy it)!

Thanks, she was delivered unto the institution of higher learning yesterday.  A long day of hauling stuff into her dorm room, but the weather was great.

That is fine Butch but I remember the chords, it is the lyrics I have problems with smile.

Roger

Thats my problem as well, I can memorize chords for tunes, BUT, I need a sheet in front of me to have any hope of singing a tune.   The example I use is "I'll fly away", the chords are simple, but except for the chorus, the rest of the lyrics are not memorized.  I need to read the lyrics.

Our daughter graduated from high school this summer and we've been knee deep in the hoopla getting her and us ready for her entry in to college tomorrow.  Not to mention having her get her Driver's license.

SO I haven't been here as often as I should to pick up good tips and advice.

I'm also in the middle of prepping myself to get back into the nursing workforce with workshops and refresher courses.  I haven't practiced as an RN for nigh on 5 years.  To play the role of stay home dad and househusband.

Hopefully I can get here on a more consistent basis once the dust settles.
