I will also second the snark.  picks, It depends on wht you want.  Hard attack? soft  attack?   all kinds of options.  buy a bunch of different and see what suits you.  Me, for metal i like a Med to heavy, Punk med to light,  ballads, light.  and my current favorite are Snarling Dog picks.

Does anybody know anything about a smartphone app called "guitar tuna". This a free app that is an electronic guitar tuner. The problem is when I try to tune my guitar, on each string the needle first registers too high, then too low. I don't know which reading is accurate.

IT IS NOT A GOOD APP

TRY THE BOSS TUNER APP.

This could be the "white" to my "darker" song  and the flip side of Heaven or Hell.  Nice song!
a bit tooo wet on the vocals though.   I also hear Elvis Only Fools Rush in or Suspicious minds.

Oooh! Been there done that. There's nothing worse than a "friend" that smiles to your face while their stabbing you in the back. Consign him to the bin my friend. At least you got a good poem, possibly song out of his treachery?

Im hard that way.  He moved out, was a roommate for a year. He was there for me when I needed him.  Between my daughter and her BF moving back, and Covid, and no where to go to blow off steam, (not to mention work sucks for both of us) it all became a case of camping too long with your friend! LOL .  He did do some S___y stuff.  Some selfish stuff.  it will take a while, bu tthe wounds will heal.  I dont give up on my friends very easy.

It is better that we dont live together now tho.  repairs already starting.

Yes a good song. I added some changes to the main working copy.  Z suggested one part as a bridge, IDK   im really feelling how its written.

Thanks to all for my wrong side of dead comment.  I actually think I lifted that from a movie,  but its a great  line.

Easier Said Than Done
12 October 2020
Beamer

Woke up on the wrong side of bed,
Unsettling thoughts running through my head.
Ya’ know I woke up and thought to myself,
At least I didn’t wake up on the wrong side of dead

A restless sleep for the past few nights,
No one to blame, no one to fight.
Laying here, amazed at life
Laying here thinking and hoping I’m not right

Brought you into my circle,
No strings attached.
Gave you my friends.
We laughed and laughed.

Not everyone a true friend can be.
I’m told that I am …. Plus three.
Something changed, it wasn’t me
Passive aggressive it’s not pretty.

A restless sleep for the past few nights,
No one to blame, no one to fight.
Laying here, amazed at life
Laying here thinking and hoping I’m not right

Real life ain’t no nursery rhyme,
Ya’ know it’s goanna take some time.
Maybe we killed it for the long run?
Forgiveness, is easier said than done.

Yes, Forgiveness,
Is easier said than done.
Oh Forgiveness,
Is easier said than done.

Left ya  a note on SC big_smile

I spent the day listening to BEST OF BOTH WORLDS  CD on amazon. both dave and Sammy material.   I posted AND THE CRADEL WILL ROCK on my FB page.
A: Its got a amazingly great and underrated solo.
B: It is the album (Women and Children first) toure I saw Live as a 13yr old!

"HAVE YOU SEEN JR's GRADES?" SO COOL!

ALSO THE MAIN RIFF IS NOT A GUITAR.  IT'S THE FIRST APPEARANCE OF A KEYBOARD ON A VANHALEN RECORD.  Its just pumped through a few MARSHAL STACKS!

THAT! THAT RIGHT THERE !

You have a beautiful song  on this one!  Im at work but will be playing this once home. There are so many this can relate to.  It is also the less explisit type of song as my MOTHER  A PUNKS BALLAD,   Yet its the exact same topic.  The hidden pain we all hide from time to time.  - Bravo!

Thank  you guys.  This poem was insp[ired by a member here who reached out to me privately after my WOT post.  It made me stop and realize how through this site, and the dating aps, and even FB how real and solid a " Virturral Friend" can become.

I have not physically met you or Peatle, but it would be just like meeting Zurf And TopDown (Jeff) for the first time face to face.  Big kid grins and bear hugs.

I remember looking for the link but couldn't find it. I found it now of course and I'm shocked at how it describes some people I know or once knew. I hope I'm not a narcissist, but I think I have some of the tendencies...as I said I know people that fall completely into that category.
Thanks for the eye-opener.

Phill - We all have a litrtle bit of the tendancys. pride and narcissism sometimes draw a fine line together.  However something that was pointed out to me privately was the main trait of a Narcissist is SERO empthay for anyone.  This is not me or you or most people.

The main thing I was marveling at was the view of a peroson you talk to on a chat or a short conversation, who then tells you your a bit narcisissist.  Also that someone starts showing signs that they think they are better than you in little comments and subtle mannerisims.  No one has time for that in their life.

So know when to say when   big_smile

Tomorrow, Today, & Yesterday
9/22/2020

In this world today,
to reach out and say hello or hey,
It’s so much easier and taken for granted
As just another day.

Do you remember back in the day?
You waited with excitement
To share that smile and have so much to say?
With this new world I sometimes lament.

To meet that new friend,
To form a bond.
It took work and was cherished
And it carried to the beyond.

Yet, I think of all the connections
I have made with the new technology
The things I have learned, good and bad
I smile because,
I have friends I would have never had.

The ability to form that bond
The one that goes beyond.
That causes one to reach out
When they feel you need that shout.

Do you think of tomorrow today?
You wait in delight, next week should be Skype.
To share some time and not feel sad.
I smile
I have friends I would have never had.

Yes I have friends I would have never had.

I just wanted you to know that I read every word of your post, I admit I didn't understand some of it but I did identify myself in the greater part. there is a quote; "never say never", which is what I fall back on when someone does the dirty on me, eg, I'll never use that airline again, I'll never drink at that pub again, well thing is you, me all of us may need to fly with them or be desperate for a large beer or just need someone to talk to, to unload so to speak. That's why we're here.

did you follow the link?   One pint in all this is Men are usually accused of being the Narcissist  but some ladies are just as bad.

I wanted to post this somewhere and NOT on FB due to the individual who I allude too, may see it and get feelings hurt, but I wanted to share it somewhere.

In an attempt to find out about myself I realize I do have one big problem in that yes I do tend to turn conversations towards myself. Only in the very recent few years have I learned this is a form of Narcissistic behavior.

I always thought it was a just because of having felt to shy in the young life, and learned to be somewhat bold.  I also did not realize that was how people viewed it.  I thought I was just adding to the conversation that I felt I had a bit of bearing on.
So I have made some strides in holding back a bit. And really listening.
I had one instance where there was a definite clash between my form and the female form in the manner of The Minimizing Apology: "I was just . . . "
“I was just kidding.” (Taken from Psychology Today)   and I also started to notice some other little mannerisms.

In the effort to not be miss-informed I have looked for explanations of both sides and have found this link to be quite eye opening.
https://pro.psychcentral.com/exhausted- … rcissists/

I don’t agree with everything this link states but in the extreme bad I am sure it is accurate.

I have been battling with these thoughts since things came to a head with the BLM and DEFUND movements, and the dating  life.

I had complete strangers ask me if I was a Narcissist.  Not to mention 2 other terms that were flying around and total BS.  (Misoginist and closet racist or some garbage like that)

I was also asked if I had ever been Diagnosed with ADD.  To which I reply, OH LOOK BUTTERFLY!-- All joking aside, the term did not exist back when I was tested and I probably woud say that yes there is pretty healthy amout of it running around (maybe why a Monster usually puts me to sleep faster than it keeps me awake).

Back in 1981 all I was diagonsed with was light dislexia.

I just have a little time on my hands to think.  I ahve dated a few different women in the last year.  The last one whom I wrote "The last love song" about, ends up not being my last love song.  3 months in and a lot of stuff was poping up and I looked at the definition of the minimising apology and went BOOM head to hand!
"You are just like Bill Murry  in Groundhog day"  It took me a min and then I was like WTF?  After that my attention went to more mannerisims and comments.  So I guess i am still looking for theat last love song. (we have maintained polite converational status tho)

I just wanted to share.

Thanks Chordie family.

I changed one word and the vers goes much better!

Well I don’t know what happened to the original link.  I will re-record it an maybe sing it better.
Last night I was playing it with the Em and to me it doesn’t sit right.  Sounds good on piano but from B to Em there is not much of a change.

Not only have I now had my 3rd vocal lesson, My instructor is so cool that she has helped me change my song into a better key for my voice.  By no means am I magically better. Just the 4 weeks has made a really big improvment!
Heaven or Hell is still in G and I have a vocal melody to follow. OH! We now have 2 brakes and a bridge!

Truth be told, this is the very first song I have written with a bridge.  Im being slowly spoon fed correct theory and comosition.

We always go overtime so i gave her a $15.00 tip and some fresh baked cookies my daughter had made.

I asked her if all her students asked her to do arrangement on their songs.  She said "not really"  most i am asuming are younger and just wanting to sing to the radio. -so to speak-

I made the changes in my song version and bounced it to the top.  Maybe you all would like to check it out.
