Hi Chordie Guys,
I cannot get songs to enter into my songbook in the normal way. Is this a problem that you can take care of or is there something I can try here. Not too complicated I hope!!

Hey Des;
The song is called "All The Soft Places To Fall"
It is on the - Poncho & Lefty album put out by Willie Nelson & Merle Haggard in the 80's sometime. It is a slow ballad type song. If you look at the previous post I put up there are a few lines from it in no particular order. All I could remember. Does the song you have in mind match those lyrics? And if so how do I get it?
Thanks for the responce!

First thanks to last_rebel for the song title, and yes James it has been a while hasn't it. The Studio is doing O.K., and we are having a ball! About this song? Do you know if it is in someones song book or otherwise posted in Chordie. I can't seem to locate it anywhere. To me this is a clasic album with many great lyrics and stories.

There was a song on a Willie and Merle album in the 80's (I think) thathas these lines somewhere in the song, not in this order,

Most of our lives we been outlaws,
out with our backs to the wall,
I'm a rambler, I'm a seeker, and we're getting weaker,
I tired of the rocks and the bramble, barbed wire fences and all,
All the soft places to fall

Does any one recognize this, and where would I find it.
It was on the same album that had "Reasons To Quit" and "Poncho & Lefty" on it.

I heard a song the other day that I am just dieing to learn. The rendition that I heard was a joint effort between Willie Nelson, George Harrison, and two or three others. The only line that I can remember was---" I was so much older then, ????????younger now" This was the last line of the verse or chorus that is repeated.
Thanks--Johnny V.

Hello Fellow Chordians;

Has any body got "It's Been So Long" in their Tickle Trunk. I like the version done by the Downchild Blues Band, but any rendition will do.  Oh Yea, please keep it as simple as possible, my name is Steve, but not Stevie Ray!

Thanks

First of all Sir may I send you my best wishes, admaration, and thanks for the duty you have taken upon yourself.In the situation that you are in have you ever thought of doing any writing? What I'm saying is, if you are having a hard time keeping up with the players, use your instument as a springboard of accomplishment. Enjoy the freedom of expresion that music gives you. Tell of your experiences, thoughts and observations, in the very chaotic world that surrounds you.

    GOOD LUCK & COME HOME SAFE

Great stuff James. The passion of the lyric rings through, while the philosophy of the whole is inspirering.

Every body makes a big deal outa "dead Rock Stars". They are just dead people like everyone else that dies. The fact that they were famous before they died to me is imaterial. They probably would have found away to destroy themselves nomatter what profesion they would have been in. It is part of their natural makeup, we just hear about it more because of their so called "status" There are many great artist who live long lives that were more "famous" than the dead ones, they are just no fun to write about, and don't sell mags or or boost record sales. As a matter of fact some artist death is the best thing to happen to thier carreers. e.g. Jim Croce.In the end "an artist is an artist for life, a freak is a freak till he dies"

I have also been looking into recording stuff lately. There are different methods to use with all of them giving you basically the same results. If I have come to realize anything it is that you are far better off doing twenty vocal tracks and finding the one you like than you are trying to "fix" one you don't like. Don't try to over do it., the simpler the better. If it sounds great after three or four layers don't try to add six more just becuase you can. Experiment add goof around with tracks just to see what happens, genious usually happens by mistake. And remember the music will always be at your fingertips, don't ever surrender that to a machine.

        GOOD LUCK; STEVE B(JV)

That is what I call a hell of a good tune. Excellent Stuff. Paints a picture, has realism, nice flow, never looses track of the subject. again very good stuff in my humble opinion.
