As with all chord sites (and chordie searches them all) the chords that are shown are posted by individuals who have taken the time to work them out themselves. So we don't have to! Which is great. This means that there is no way that they are going to be exact reproductions of the original song. What they do is provide a good basis for others to work with, so that they can then build on that and get it the way they want it. If you think a chord is wrong then play the one you think is right. Simple as that.
As for the key, you will see on the right hand side of all the songs on the index that there is a button marked "transpose". This makes it easy to change the key to whatever you like.
Chord and tab sites are great for people like me who have a very limited ability at working songs out. It takes me a long time, but sites like this give me a start and I can get the rest with a little work. All good fun.
I've noticed that Chordie seems to be falling a bit behind with some of the more recent songs. But don't forget you can add songs to the archive yourself. Check out the resourses tab at the top of the page.
"You never spend any time with me"
I'm sure we've all heard it.
My reply is usually, "Sure I do, you just never notice me when you're watching Strictly Come Dancing or Dancing on chuffin Ice!"
I know what I'd rather be doing.
Just to make sinkybhoy feel at home.....
Howzit gaun mate? Hope yer feelin a bit better efter yer team got gubbed a sair yin the er night. Ye'll find no animosity of the fitba variety on this forum, so welcome, come away ben. Noo geeza song!!
Ignorance is the wrong word. You are now exploring more complex patterns of play and tab is one way showing how to play these.
Pretty much the stock reply is to check out www.justinguitar.com . There is a great section on understanding tab.
Have fun.

On second thoughts it's probably easier just to direct you straight to the tab section...

Now that's what I call a warm welcome. I'll just add another we bit of warmth from just a wee bit nearer home than the rest of these fine gentlemen.

Hee hee, I canny spell
Glad you had a good one, Old Doll. I did raise a glass but nothing too serious. Sensible you may be but I'm just getting old.
And belfast is not the only place with this problem, StranSongs. Or maybe I just notice it more in my old age.
Sláinte!
I was going to post the lyrics to the Cheers theme song but I might get into soapy bubble. It's nice just to stop by once in a while.
You might want to check out the songwriting section of the forum. Plenty to look and listen to there.
How's about ye?? Hope you all have hangovers today.
I'm sure you'll all do Shawn proud.
I'm gonna move this into the Recording section if thats ok, PapaTom.
This is a tricky subject to bring up here and if anyone objects then it will be removed. But this is a campaign that my local church has supported as part of it's linking with churches in Zimbabwe. Since it's International Womens Day spare a thought for the women of Zimbabwe who have to deal with life like this. Give Zimbabwean women back their dignity.
Follow the link to see what I'm talking about...

New strings will sound really different. They should sound brighter, with more of a ring to them. Maybe this could be called "more tinny".
Most shops will put on 12 guage strings - medium. Most shops I've been to anyway. The buzz may go in time but if not try 12s or 11s.
Sorry JUSTDOITVIVI I couldn't find that anywhere. Never heard of it actually.
terrybarthel, you may get on better if you start a new thread for your question. People will simply not see it if it's just tacked on to the end of someone elses.
****Added***** Oh and welcome to the chordie forum!!!!
As I'm sure you know, chordie does not host the songs on it's index but acts as a search engine to find them from other host sites. It then jiggles them about a bit to show them in an easy to read format. In this case it would seem that whatever code chordie uses to do this has misinterpreted some of the data and so the result is a bit "sloopy".
If you look at the page the song appears on you will see a box with "important information" marked on it. This gives the location of the original site that the song was pulled from. If you click "original song" it will take you to the host site which for some reason looks OK and easier to read.
You could also transfer the song to something like a word document and then chop and change it any way you liked for your own purposes.
Sorry if this is no help to you and I hope you continue to enjoy what chordie offers.
Hi Daniel. You seem to have hijacked this thread by jumping in with a question of your own. If you have any questions please start a new thread, it just keeps everything tidy and easy to find. But since it's your 1st post I'm sure folks will let it slide.
Welcome to the forum. If you check out the "Public books" tag at the top of the page you'll find a selection of songbooks members have compiled. There are loads in the beginners section. Have a look, I'm sure you'll find something you like.
Cheers.

Yeah. It was also good to see Michael J Fox. I usually find these things quite boring but I really enjoyed the closing ceremony. I must be getting old.

Congrats on that news, Tony. Really glad everthing is going so well. Best wishes from snowy Scotland.
This may over simplify things but it may get your true feeling.
Toss a coin. Heads you go solo, tales you stay. After the coin lands you will feel either relieved or troubled by the result. If it lands heads and you then have to say to yourself "Aaahh, best of 3" then you'll probably be happier staying. If it lands heads and you yell "YES!" then I think you have your answer.
A worthy rant. Rant on, good man.
I would always advise getting this done by someone who knows what they're doing. I'm sure your local guitar store will do a "set up" for you for a few dollars. If you explain how you want it set up they can do that all for you. Sure, it'll cost a few dollars but I'm sure you will be more than happy with the result.
I'm also sure that someone will give instruction on how to do this in subsequent posts here but, as I say, I'd always recommend getting it done by a pro.
You could also just remove 6 strings from the Alvrez...
My wife must have had this in mind with her gift to me. A pink, yes PINK sweater. My extra gift to her was to actually wear it to church this morning. Yes, I love her very much.
Ach, we knew that anyway
Thanks Zurf. As ever, a goldmine of info. Not quite what the Scots had in mind for the penguins though.
