There is a new button on the right hand side of every song called "chopro". Click it, and you will get a version that is easy to save in Word.

We are doing everything to make this a spam-free Christmas...:)

So far I am very pleased with the effect of the new registration system. No spam the last days.

I did add Topdown to the admin-list the same day as I rewrote the registration. He is very eager to zap his first spammer. There is reason to believe the next spammer will be zapped a bit harder than what is usual.. I would definitely not like to be in the shoes of this bastard....;)

The direct url is the same for any device or browser.

For example: I have a bookmark in my iPhone with the url http://www.chordie.com/songbook.php.  This is the same url if I type it into my browser on my PC but with very different results.

I did a view source on the resulting page but there wasn't any specific code there, so I imagine all the device specific code is being handled on the server side.  Perhaps there is a tag your device sends that maybe the page authors could add to the list of mobile devices....

This page is dependent upon whether or not you are logged in.

The device detecting should only affect the stylesheets. Ie the html/content is exactly the same for a PC and an iPhone. However different css-files are loaded, and the formatting is totally different.

Would it be possible to access it from something else than an iphone/itouch? I don't have any of those, but I use pda and nokia linux tablets which usually work very well with website enhanced for iphone.

What's the direct url?

Chordie is a fairly complex website - regarding html/css use. I have not optimised it for the nokia linux tablet. Tell me more about the browser (and if possible point me to a development kit) - I might be able to fix this.

Currently Chordie is primarily optimised for the W3C standards of xhtml/css. It is also tweaked a bit to work with fairly new versions of the following browsers:
Firefox
IE 5 and IE 6
Opera
Safari for Mac and Windows

Of portable devices it is optimised for
iPod Touch/iPhone

Some support (though a bit outdated) for
WebTV

You can do that. Log in, and then go to "resources - change settings". It should default to uke whenever you are logged in.

Here is a tips for anyone that want to view their songs when they are offline. I guess this mostly applies to iPod Touch users, since iPhone users can be online anytime.

Visit this url with your Safari iPod browser:
http://app.metatype.jp/ipodoff/

Follow the instructions for saving the javascript snippet as a bookmark. Name it "save offline" or something.

When you browse Chordie and find a song you like, you can then go to this bookmark. It will direct you to a new page that you again can bookmark. This new bookmark will be available even if you are offline.

Ive just tested this once, but it did work perfectly. Tell me if it works for you.

I know about the songbook issue. It is on my todo-list, but it will not be fixed before Christmas. Just too much to do...:(

... it is there. Try going to Chordie with your Touch/iPhone...

Thanks upyerkilt. That is exactly what I need. An url to any song having this problem, and the name of your browser. Most likely it is then very easy to fix.

Anyone knows about any (not sold out) great concerts/games in London this weekend?

I am going over on Thursday, and could probably find out whats on by spending a couple of hours surfing Google. But then I though, why dont fix a couple of bugs on Chordie, and see if I could get some advice in the forum? ..:)

Chord grids should print. I have had reports from people having this problem, that the problem was fixed when they updated their print driver.

Please go to "print preview". If you can see the chords there but it still does not print, it is always a local problem (ie a problem with your printer/printer driver).

The chopro-file will be the untransposed version of the song. No easy way to fix this.

It is working on my computer, and I need more specific info to fix this.

Please include:
- Browser version
- Songbook name
- Does it happen repeatedly on this book?
- Does it happen on other books?

OK. Tested in IE, and found a small javascript error there. I am not sure if this will fix the problem, but I have to verify if the problem is still there before going any further.

Note that the layout is based on tables for aligning chords and lyrics. However the lines of the tables are hidden in Chordie. When you copy it to Word, Word display the borders... or sort of... the borders in gray are not printed.

What browsers are you using?

Yes, I appreciate getting feedback on this. It seems to be working on my computer, though.

I have gotten a lot of requests for the old chopro-format - [C][D]. People seemed to like it when they copy the songs to Word. (With the old formatting the text was copied to the clipboard in chopro-format)

Strangely, the main reason for changing the layout was just to avoid this. I also got a lot of complaints from people wanting formatted songs in Word....

I guess, people are different.

I have now added a new button. Here you can view the song in chopro-format and - if you like it - copy it to Word.

Everybody that is logged should be showing up here.

(1 replies, posted in About Chordie)

Currently that is correct.

However Chordie is optimised for iPhone, and you could surf Chordie directly from your iPhone.

I am looking into a way of saving the songs offine for iPhone/iPod Touch. It might have to wait until Jobs is releasing his SDK in February.

It is a good idea, and I have actually experimented a bit with it. However it just did not look good. The chords flickered, and I did choose the current design. I might look at it again.

Made a small change. You had to press "change" earlier, now it should be automatically selected. Please retry and tell me if it works.

I can personally guarantee that no virus is coming from Chordie. I have 100% control of the code of the site.

I do link to some other pages (as every other web page do). I can never guarantee that these sites are virus free, I do however always review the sites I link to.

Chordie do however set a couple of cookies (to remember password, and the remember the state of the menues when browsing artists). If you are scanning for malware, I have noticed that some of the programs(like adAware) are reporting cookies as a possible privacy problem.

You will however get this warning for all the sites where you can be automatically logged in - it is the only way to do it. This has nothing at all to do with viruses, and the only possible threat that it might pose, is that you little brother (using the same computer) might get access to your songbook collection on Chordie. If your brother is a really obnoxious little prat that might love messing around with your valuable songs, you might consider looging out of Chordie before leaving the computer.

Please try browsing Chordie today with your iPhone/Touch. A lot of the work I have done is already online. Please give feedback about any errors/bugs.

Please explain more about how you would like Google Docs to be used.
