Any of you ever had to take the bus?, we live in a rural area, the bus run every two hours each way.

I take the ole bus,
It stops here and there,
You can pick blueberries off the side.

It comes around ten,
every day,
It really is a nice ride.

It picks up people,
Who live here and there,
The roads are a rough ride,

Shakes up your kidneys,
Bumps you around,
Till you got a pain in your side.

Just secured camp site and tickets for the Fifth Annual Dutch Mason Blues Fest in Truro, Nova
Scotia, august 7th,8th,and 9th. The lineup this year includes, Colin James, Kenny Wayne Shepperd, Rick Derringer,James Cotton, Jimmy Vaughan, Shemika Copeland,Tutu Jones,Sue Foley,Down Child Blues Band{one if my favorites}, Matt Minglewood Band, Dr. Hook, Fathead, The Twisters, Garret Mason Blues Band, also the maritime BBQ cookoff, custome motorbike show, and acoustic showcases all weekend.  Should be a great time again this year as Dutch's love of the blues lives on.

Nice poem Phill, yesterday on the news there was one account of death here in Canada from
swine flu.  May want to change that one line. Good to see your writer's block is gone.

Someone needs to invent the fishing guitar. It would be kind of like a guitar that you could play but the sound and vibrations would attract fish. The only thing is how would you attach a reel to it?
I'd buy one just so i could combine both my favorite hobbies.

inventions? fishing? well it would have to be a scotsman that invented this wouldnt it? salmon, inventions, scottish, reel ( as in a scottish reel as in a piece of music) combine ( as in harvester for farming)
seems to me too much connections with scotland for it to be a foreigner to invent such a device , lol
BUT if anyone outside Scotland does invent this then I would put £50 bet on that he has scottish blood somewhere in his family tree. lol

Ken

Wikipida has the reel reel invented in China  ,  Im Scottish.  Mc Dougall- MacLeod,.  I'm not
taking the bet tho, it could be proven wrong.

its the same cords!! the bass(upright, acoustic, or electric) all have  the 3,4,5,6th strings on the guitar, and you call them g,d,a,e and you call them 1,2,3,4 on the bass!
we are all on the same sheet music!! learn the nashville numbering system, and the notes go round and round !! simple!
if you play a song in G, then G is 1, A=2,B=3,C-4,D-5,and so on.   if you play upright bass, you play the 1 & the 5 notes
so in G, you play G(1) and the D(5).  so its g-d,g,d, when the music changes you change.
if you are playing bluegrass, the song usally goes 1-4-5 progression, so if you start in G & D, then the next set would be the 4th, so count G1,A2,B3,C4,D5
SO THE 4TH IS the C, AND THE 5TH IS D.  SO C IS NOW the 1 and count CDEFG, IT WOULD BE G. SO C-G ARE THE 2 STRINGS YOU PLAY, THEN THE SONG GOES ON TO D AND the D MATE IS A. SO ITS D-A!  THAT'S 1-4-5.
IM JUST STARTING OUT,AND THAT'S WHAT NO ONE WANTS TO TELL YOU!! BUT AFTER YOU BUY ENOUGH DVD'S YOU FIND OUT. ITS SIMPLE! YOU JUST HAVE TO KNOW YOUR NOTES AND WHERE THEY ARE ON THE FINGERBOARD.
G&D, D&A, A&E, F&C, C&G , 1&5 JUST LEARN TO COUNT! 1 TO 7 AND THEN BACK TO 1 AGAIN AND START OVER!

playing upright bass, there ain't any frets! so you have to know where to find the notes, so we mark the neck until we do know about where they are on the fingerboard. and my joints are sore!! my elbow is killin me! it looks easy, but it ain't!!

Fun tho.

Rita Mac Niel's   "Working Man"  version by Matt Minglewood about a tired old coal miner. His
version puts a lump in the throat. My dad was a coal miner since he left school in grade six and worked hard all his life. That tune reminds me of him. I bet dad is mining in the sky.

Can't help with the case, but do you need someone to carry your fishing gear???, That would be a great adventure, hope you have the best time and catch lots of fish. Can't wait to see those pics.
