Jimi Hendrix' 1967 Gibson paisley flying v....................

Jimi Hendrix (The Jimi Hendrix Experience) - while generally regarded as an iconic Stratocaster player, Jimi used several Gibson models including an SG Custom, Flying V, Les Paul Special and a Les Paul Custom. Gibson also gave him two guitars in 1970, a custom Flying V and an ES-345. Both of these guitars were left handed models. Gibson has released a Flying V model replicating his 1967 Flying V including the psychedelic floral design which Hendrix himself had hand painted on the original.

Willie Nelson's Martin classical.  Along with the strap.  I wouldn't play it, though.  Just wonder about it and try to figure out who all the signatures belong to.

- Zurf

"Nelson's principal guitar is a Martin N-20 nylon-string acoustic, which he has named "Trigger", after Roy Rogers' horse. Constant strumming over the decades has worn a large sweeping hole into the guitar's body near the sound hole. Its soundboard has been signed over the years by over a hundred of Nelson's friends and associates, from fellow musicians to lawyers and football coaches. It is rumored that when the guitar finally wears out beyond playability, he will permanently retire from the music business."

Grovers are the best. I have them on almost all of my guitars. No finer tuners in my opinion.

James,
Would it be possible for you, or anyone, to create a songbook with the songs they've written and submitted on Chordie? Just curious..

There are no shortcuts or magic books that'll help you with this. It will improve with time, repetition, and lots of practice. In terms of practicing I would recommend using a rythym device such as a metronome or a click track from a keyboard to help improve your meter(timing). Start out simple(all down strokes, two down one up, all up, etc...) and build from there. Good luck.

Old Doll,
I'm a big, tough guy who likes football, mixed martial arts, and tonka toys. Your song put a little lump in my throat and a bit of moisture in me eyes. Very well done. You're a beautiful person with the voice to match.

Congratulations Badeye to you and your wife, Gem. 24 years is amazing!

Anything by the late  Michael Hedges. Michael used many alternate open tunings along with 2 hand tapping with tons of artificial and natural harmonics. If  I didn't see him live I would've sworn he was overdubbing. He sounded like 3 people playing on certain songs.

I never play with pre-recorded music, instead I loop. I usually lay down a guitar track followed by djembe, cabasa, casaba, and shaker percussion ending with fretless bass. I love this looping thing!!It's also called phrase sampling. The key is variety. Mixing the instrumentation arrangements and song dynamics makes for a more interesting listen for the audience. My musical services are in greater demand locally since I started looping about 2 years ago.

My set-up is pretty basic. I made my own pedal board from pine wood and metal hardware.(4 latches and a carrying handle, 1 can of black spray paint) I spent a total of $31 on supplies. I looked at buying a pedal case but the size I needed was very expensive. I use 2 Boss EQ's, one I keep on continuous and the other I use as a boost. I also have a Boss compressor/sustain pedal that I use to sweeten up my soloing. When I use the boost EQ and the comp/sus together I get a nice tube sound. I've searched for years and years to find this tone and sound. Lastly, I have a Boss phase shifter. This pedal is really groovy. It's a chorus and a flange in one pedal. I use this pedal on rythym and leads. Along with my Boss RC 20XL loop station pedal, that's it. All Boss because Boss is the best(n my i's).......................

Thoroughly wipe your strings down before and after each playing session, front and back sides, with a lint free cloth. This should greatly improve the life of your strings.

I had to play long enough the though guy.
By the way, I would give everything I own (Bread) to see you writing in another language, try French, it is easier, that would be REAL fun, TRY IT and make me smile. yikes
All I wanted was WRITING IN PUBLIC how grateful I am to have a certain purpose in my live.
I just try to stay who I am, is this a crime???? Is it a crime to thank other people??

Guitaardocphil,
Just do what you do and say what's on your mind. We all like you and respect what you have to say. Your content and opinions are very unique, interesting, and fun. Don't stop.

Nice review Ken, wish I could've been there. I'll for shizzle catch him if he comes anywhere near my neck of the woods. I saw him a few years back in Clearwater, FL and he moved me like few other performers have ever done.
JP has a fishing buddy down here near  my hometown and he pops up from time to time in the local bars. I have a friend, Vinnie, who plays bass and he had the great fortune of playing 3 tunes with JP in one of our little 'dive' bars down this way. Maybe I'll be the lucky one someday, or you!
