VERY sorry I missed you guys!  Thursday I had a few drinks a little too early and ended up with an extra kid.  Jim kept me up late wink then the kids woke me early.  Friday I just can't recall ... I think I was half dead from sleep deprivation.  I've never been a night owl and working till around 11pm I cant seem to get to sleep till 2am lately then the kids have me up by 6:30.  Here's hoping next Thurday I'll catch up on the sleep so I can join Friday.

BTW - I think Chica (my dog) totally had an off heat back in April.  She still appears to be pregnant (even more so now).  So I'm still on pins and needles listining to her belly and feeling for movement and wondering just WHEN it is she's really due to deliver.  This of course doesn't help my sleep at all!  LOL!

To address your worries MKM.  First, guys actually like the ponytail through the ballcap look.  You aren't fooling anyone with it.  We know it means you didn't have time to "do" your hair.  We don't care.  It's cute.  Second, you'd look good in a proper sun hat.  Not all hats are for all people.  I see you with a straw hat with a large front brim wrapping around a bit on the side, or perhaps a bit floppy one made of raffia and a small crown.  But take Billie Joe (Chris' wife).  She wears that straw cowboy hat and it looks terrific on her, but I don't think that'd be your look.  Third, smiles work for everybody.  If you smile enough, you don't even have to hold a guitar.  You can just wiggle and bang a tambourine on your leg once in a while a la Josie and the Pussycats.

ha ha ha!

Someday, my hair will be long enough to make a pontail (assuming no more haircuts from the kids).  I do need a sun hat.  I used to have one, but the kids ruined it.  I didn't wear it in public, but it was so comfy in the back yard.  Billie-Jo looks FANTASTIC in her cowgirl hat.  I think she'd look fantastic in anything though.  smile  If I wasn't such a northerner, I would try to get away with it.  Having said that... I do actually own a plethora of winter hats that I wear all winter long.  I guess I do think I look good in those, although, I don't think they'd be appropriate for guitar playing in the summer.

Amy , Hats do not apply for girls, holding the guitar just right and smiling once in a while is all that is required smile

Phew!  I only own one hat, and it's a baseball cap.  I only wear it when my hair looks horrid and I have to go in public and haven't time to fix my hair.  LOL!

I often think I'd like to get a pretty sunhat, but I don't think I look good in hats.  I'm glad I'm not breaking any mojo rules without a hat.  smile  I will continue to smile occasionally!

Fun?  Who has time for that?

I guess my guitar is my fun.  Everything else tends to revolve around the kids.

It's a lovely looking guitar Jim!  Congrats on your NGD!  Hoping once it's fixed up it sounds as beautiful as it looks.

Oh man!  I missed out on it!  LOL!

Does this whole hat thing apply to women too?  Or just men?  Or is it just to sheild your skype freinds from the "lightbulb effect"?  wink

Awesome story Toots!  I know when my kids are grown up, I'll be out and about and not sitting around like an old fuddy duddy.  I want to be like Toots when I grow up!

I look even worse today.  Spent the night sleeping on the hardwood floor in my office because I was SURE Chica would have her pups.  No go, sometime after we both fell asleep the contractions subsided.  However, her temperature dropped so we should have puppies sometime in the next 24 hours (according to every website out there I've read).

Oh, and I forgot.  My apologies to all who came online last night.  I looked horrendous.  I usually try to at least put a little makeup on so I'm not so darn scary looking!  LOL!

Hi and welcome to chordie.  I did a quick search and couldn't find anything.  I suggest you pick one to start with, find a youtube video or something of the sort of the song and post the link here.  Then, one of our very talented members can try to get the chords for you with their magic ears!  smile

It was great to jam with a few newbies tonight. Jim, Astro and Bob were a pleasure to meet and hear. We fell off from a regular Thursday / Saturday Skype thing, but I sure would like to see a regular scheduled jam start up again! They are always a blast!

I'd like to second that!

smile  Was fun for sure!

Wellllllll .... she didn't end up having the puppies last night.  I think a dog going into labor might be like a watchpot that never boils.  So, I'll be on skype tonight - FRIDAY 6/22 - to jam.  If she decides to have the puppies tonight, well then I'll just mute everything and let you all watch the gruesome beauty unfold.  Ha ha!

My apologies about not getting on here and updating everyone - chordie was apparently down around the time I made the decision to sit with her instead of jamming.  Like I said though, I'll have it open tonight puppies or not.  smile

Zurf... I think that sounds like an excellent plan.  I miss hanging w/ my guitar buddies too (and to be honest, I think my callouses are fading away.  I NEED to play my guitar!).

So, what's the consensus?  Tonight (Thurs 6/21) or tomorrow (Friday 6/22)?

Although, if it's more than one guitar it could be in your fingering position.  I was having the same issue and after handing my guitar to a much better player I found the buzzing was all in my error not the guitar.

Taking it in for a pro set up, and first seeing if it's you could save you a ton of money and time.

Absolutely BGD.  I started out with a really cruddy guitar that NEEDED to be mashed in the neck to get anything out, moved to nylon, and then back to steel.  Now that I have my Martin, I realize a lot of my buzzing (yes, MINE not the guitar as it's been PROVEN to me that it's all me) is due to my fingering.  Sometimes it's placement (cut the nails, get the fingers rolled up there where they belong) or too much pressure.  Relearning is tricky, and the more I get INTO the playing the more I find myself putting too much tension.  I'm working on it too.

On Roger's suggestion - I have created a sticky in the "song requests" section with a link to this site so you can find it again easier down the road.  Great resource!  smile

A great new site, submitted by one of our newer members allows you to search for songs based upon the chords you know (or want to play) instead of by song title or artist.

www.SearchByChords.com

It searches sites like chordie, ultimate-guitar.com and guitarfiles.be.

In the words of the site creator:
"How it works: you can enter (for example) something like 'Em, G, D, A, C', hit search, and you get all the songs you can play with exact these chords, or with some of these chords. If you're logged in you can also save a song to your personal songbook. It's not fancy and rather straight forward. Still, hope I've not only made my own life easier with this online app, but also the life of other hobby guitar players. It's free to use."

Much like Chordie, you will find a few google ads on the site - but that's the price of FREE.  This is an excellent resource.
