I hope its alright to post this here
Front Page London Free Press  (Ontario Canada)

In WW2 my sister in-laws father was a spitfire pilot. When D-Day approached his mission with his wing commander was to fly over Normandy to check the weather reports. If the weather was bad they were to send back the code word "soldier" Which they did. This meant the D-Day invasion was put off for 24 Hrs.
As it turns out my sister in-law works for a company where seniors live and she was talking to one of the tenants about her dads experience. As it turns out this fellow was a cryptologist on one of the ships and his moment in time came when he deciphered "soldier" and promptly brought it to his superiors.
These two people who have never met got the message thru to cancel D-Day for one day.
Neither of these gentlemen had ever met before and my sister in-law got them together for the first time this past April.
WOW To Live in the same city and be so involved in such a major part of history and finally get to meet each other. I would have loved to be a fly on the wall for that meeting.
Check the story at http://lfpress.com/newsstand/News
I find it fascinating.

This is the first song I wrote way way way way back.
It is a two chord song but in my mind I can hear the mandolin a soft harp and a real smooth base line.To me it makes up for only two chords. The song is about a cottage owned by a buddy, cut out on a hill facing Lake Huron.Surrounded by trees, full deck across the lake side of cottage, just sit and watch the sunset. No plumbing,no electricity. Man it was sweet being there.

This is a song I wrote in I think 1978.Its about a folk festival held in London called Home County Folk Festival.I think as of now it is Canada's largest folk festival.Lots of talent, food, crafts and free stages for performers that want to play there own stuff. After a few years some local people wanted to shut it down because of noise but we held our ground and it has become a huge yearly success. This was my protest song to keep the festival.I will keep the second verse as written but I fear today it would have to be changed.

Home County Timeby Ken Peters

         1978

Hey [Em]listen let me [D]tell you now and I [Em]hope you don't [D]mind

I gonna [Em]sing you all a [D]story about [Em]Home County [D]Time.

Now its the [Em]time when all the [D]people get to[Em]gether for [D]while

Its the [Em]time when all the [D]people get to[Em]gether for a [D]smile

Its the [Em]time when we all [D]gather in [Em]July [D]

[Em][D][Em][D] [Em][D]

Now if you [Em]look to your [D]left and you [Em]look to your [D]right,

you see all [Em]kinds of [D]people man its [Em]so out of [D]sight.

You see the [Em]short ones ,the [D]tall ones ,the [Em]big and the [D]round,

You see the [Em]wired ones the [D]tired ones but [Em]nobody [D]frowns.

Well al[Em]right al[D]right al[Em]right al[D]right al[Em]right...[D]my [Em]friends.[Em]

So [Am]now you [G]all can [Am]plainly [G]see that the [Am]people in the [G]park are here [Am]peaceably[G]

So if [Em]you don't [D]mind [Em]we'll have [D]good time [Em]cause home [D]county is a [Em]real good [D]time

Home [Em]County is a [D]damn good [Em]time

And [A]if you want to sing and [C]you want to shout out,

than [G]listen to the music baby [A]you gonna find out.

[C]You gonna [G]find every [A]time, every [C]time.

Well [Em]whoa-oa-[D]oa [Em]Home [D]County's [Em]alright.

[Em] [D] [Em] [D] [Em] [D] [Em]

Now you can [Em]walk among the [D]trees or you can [Em]dodge all the [D]bees,

You can [Em]suck back on a [D]coke or you can en[Em]joy a little [D]smoke,

Or you can [Em]sit back and [D]relax [Em]forget about your [D]feed backs

and [Em]have your self a [D]fine old [Em]time. [Em]

Or you can [Am]look at all the [G]pretty girls in [Am]tight blue jeans and [G]baby curls,

You can [Am]watch them strut there [G]stuff from early [Am]dawn until the [G]dusk.

And when the [Em]sun sets then [D]I'll bet that [Em]that is when you [D]elect

to [Em]have yourself a [D]fine old [Em]time

And [A]if you want to sing and [C]you want to shout out.

[C]You gonna [G]find every [A]time every [C]time

Well [Em]whoa oa [D]oa [Em]Home [D]County's [Em]alright

Now if your [Em]anything like [D]me and [Em]like me I'm simply [D]me,

You know I [Em]don't go out to [D]discotheques I [Em]hate them fancy [D]scenes

I like to [Em]settle down,[D]mellow down just [Em]sit and watch the [D]sun go down,

And [Em]look it as the [D]time rolls [Em]by.[Em]

So if you [Am]look at all the [G]workshops with the [Am]many works of [G]art,

you know you [Am]wont find nothin [G]fancy and you [Am]wont find nothin [G]smart.

But you'll find [Em]beauty and [D]quality so [Em]many things you [D]just wont see,

[Em]Look now it its a [D]time going [Em]by

And [A]if you want to sing and [C]you want to shout out

Than [G]listen to the music baby [A]you gonna find out

[C]You gonna [G]find every [A]time every [C]time

Well [Em]whoa oa [D]oa [Em]Home [D]County's alright[Em] [D] [Em]

I hope I'm not going overboard by posting this much, but the more I post, the stronger the passion for songwriting is re-emerging.
Any ways this song is about reflecting on how music affected me in my teens and early twenties and the feelings I have now looking back when I was in my prime and how now...I'm not.    LOL

Faded Dreamsby KAP54

[G]I remember a time that was not long [C] [G]ago, when I would listen to songs on the radio.[Am7]

And as i'd [Am7]listen[Am]...my thoughts would glis[Am7]ten

[C]Listening to the golden [D]melodies...golden [G]memories

[D7]I remember how the [G]songs were sung with feelings true,[C]and [G]it seemed the songs were sung for you.

And the[Am7]...the harmonizing [Am]was so hypnotizing

[C]But now those days are gone they've [D]turned it seems,into [G]Faded Dreams[C] [G]

  Chorus

[G]Faded dreams they come and take me [C]away.[G] [C]

[Am7]Down foggy streets down foggy [Am]lanes.

[C]Like fog rolling out to a [D]misty steam

Now theres only [G]Faded Dreams[C] [G]

[G]When I was young and my goals seemed far out of [C] [G]site,I would listen to songs in the [C]cold [G]of the [Am7]nite.

[Am7]The songs were soothing[Am]...so removing.[Am7]

[C]Moving all my lonely [D]thoughts and fears...all my [G]empty tears.

[D7]And I remember how they'd [G]build me up and make me strong

And [C]they,d[G] make me feel like I could do no wrong,But the...[Am7]the musics changing[Am],its rearranging[Am7]

[C]So now I sit back in my [D]faded jeans and listen to [G]Faded Dreams.[C] [G]

     Chorus

[G]Faded Dreams they come and take me [C]away[G] [C]

[Am7]Down foggy streets down foggy [Am]lanes

[C]Like fog rolling out to a [D]misty stream

Now theres only [G]faded dreams.[C] [G]

Middle Eight

[G]Sometimes [B7]in my mind [C]I go back to [G]yesterdays time.

[C]I know it is a time I'll never see no [D]more.

To [G]look back on that time makes [B7]me feel good

Oh [C]Lordy I know I [G]know it should cause its the [C]time in my life I [D]dreamed my Faded [G]Dreams

Chorus

[G]Faded Dreams they come and take me [C]away[G] [C]

[Am7]Down foggy streets down foggy [Am]lanes.

[C]Like fog rolling out to a [D]misty steam.

Now theres only [G]Faded Dreams.[C] [G]

[C]Like a river flowing out to an [D]empty stream.

Now theres only [G]Faded Dreams[C] [G]

Hello everybody.I am new here so I joust want to say thanks to the owners of this great site. Being in my mid fifties I lost the passion of song writing a long time ago and have been trying to get it back.Chordie is the perfect platform so again.....My Hats Off
This song I wrote back in the mid seventies for my Mom.We just lost her last year and on her last night I was lucky enough to sing it to her one last time.

                     Momma I Love You
     C                                    Em
I thank you for my life and I thank you for your love.
    Am                                           G        G7
I thank you for your time and your patience.
     C                                                            Em
I know now that the times were hard but you always carried on.
  Am                                             G        G7       C
My love and respect for you will go on and on in song.

Chorus
  F                  C                          G
But so many times I don't know what to say.
  F                C                      G
I know my love for you won't end today.
F               C                          G
So many times I don't know what to do.
F                   C                      G         G    G7
If we should have a different point of view.
                      C
But Momma I love you

C                                                Em
We both know by now the world is just not what it seems.
Am                               G                G7
To live our life in full it must be in a dream.
C                                                 Em
Theres many things that I want and there are many I reject.
Am                                   G                      G7
But most of all I want your love and your respect.

Chorus
F                   C                         G
But so many times I don't know what to say.
F                 C                       G
I know my love for you won't end today.
F              C                         G
So many times I don't know what to do.
F                  C                      G         G   G7
If we should have a different point of view.
                       C
But Momma I love you

C                                                 Em
So if the time should come and we don't see eye to eye.
Am                                            G                    G7
Think of the song I wrote for the song it does not lie.
C                                                Em
It says how much I love you,how much I really care.
Am                                             G                       G7
I thank you for your love for your love you always share.

Hope you all like it.I'm still a newbie when it comes to computers so it will take me a while to figure out how to make my next posts "Purdy"
