I say if it sounds good it is good. This guy seems to do all right with the thumb wrap-around bit:

That is awesome. I am a relocated Yankee to NC since 1978. There are still times when I am conversing with a real down-east Carolinian that we both have no idea what the other one is saying. "Say again", "What?" "Repeat that please", I swear some of my best friends speak with marbles in their mouths. Now I on the other hand speak faster than my brain can think and when I am on a roll, my mouth runs 100 miles a minute. My buddies southern brains simply cannot handle the speed. My wife says, "Stop getting all yankee on me".

Yankee vs. Southern is tough enough - I can't imagine Mandarin vs. Southern.

That said - written lyrics or tabs / chords with lyrics that are protected by copyright still cannot be posted. Links only folks.

Thats very cool tubaT. A great channel that I added to favorites.

If John doesn't mind sharing, I'd love the chords and lyrics to "You're Still Gonna Die" via email. smile

Thanks everyone and a happy birthday to your little one Amy!

Jeff

Keith Moon is the correct answer. And I swear his soul lives in Carter Beauford. But Keith was the revolutionary in Rock drumming - every time I watch him I am in new amazement. Carter Beauford gives me the same feeling.

Steve Gadd may be the best session drummer ever - he has played with so many amazing bands. Same with Phil Collins. I also love Stewart Copeland, and many others listed. But the cream of the crop for innovation and energy leads me to Moon and Beauford.

I think tubaT posted this in the wrong thread.

Happy NGD Amy! I'm looking forward to hearing the first recording. Always a good idea to choose by ear and feel instead of price and name. Congrats!

3rd year in a row for this old thread. Mom has been gone 10 years now and I still think of her and reflect on her wisdom every day.

Happy Mothers Day to all Chordie Moms!

Amy - The first guitar I purchased (after borrowing my step-daughters beginner Yamaha) is a Takamine EF series.

A fantastic sounding and playing guitar by all accounts - the improved action was vital in my finally nailing barre chords (yes, even the evil B). Of course, my advice is to play before you pay, but Taks have a great reputation for sound and durability. If you watch the CMA's, you'll see a ton of country stars playing Taks. (not that that means anything).

These days I've been leaving my primary CA guitar at my cottage in SC where I stay during the work week and have really enjoyed playing my other guits when I come home on the weekend. The Tak gets a ton of playing time recently and I'm sorry that I have neglected her. ( Judging by the way she sings, I do believe I have been forgiven. smile

I believe the tune you are looking for is by Charlie Daniels "Uneasy Rider".

It's here on Chordie

Looks GREAT. It takes guts to put a saw to your guitar.

Glad to see this project still on the move and a great big THANKS to Amy for keeping the map updated. I have the total mileage on my home computer - I'll post the new totals when I get home this weekend.

Brainsaladsurgeon - (love the name) - We are almost neighbors. The wife and I love to visit the Banner Elk / Blowing Rock area. If you ever get down to the Winston-Salem area, look us up!

Welcome to Chordie mekidsmom kid! I first started playing the guitar with my Mom as a kid - she bought me lessons and tried to learn along with the help of some Mel Bay books. She was amazed how quickly I was able to grasp things while she was struggling through. The advantage of youth! Young brains are wired for learning new things and soak up info like a sponge.

My playing in those days didn't last too long - a year or 2 and I moved on to something else. Now, 30 years later I regret ever giving it up. Stick with it! You guitar and music will give you a lifetime of pleasure (and you'll have to beat the chicks off with a stick) big_smile

Toney - You have been and continue to be an inspiration to many. It has been a pleasure sharing mod duties here with you and I look forward to continuing our cyber-friendship on FB. One of these days I'm gonna show up at one of your gigs and we're gonna strum a few and drink more than a few afterward.

BTW - Maybe I missed it, but what did you decide on Chaz's middle name?

WOW - Happy NGD day tandm3! Trading an unused bike for 7 (if I counted correctly) vintage guitars sure sounds like a good deal to me.

It is customary to post pictures on NGD posts. smile

OK - I've got to chime in here. You gals (and guys) are killing me here. I want to be first on the list for "cheesecake around the world" and "brown bread around the world". I'll pay shipping!

My wife doesn't bake and I can't find an apron that fits. big_smile
