Cool idea bswyers, but I think it might be better if offered as a question answer. i.e. - Who played the lead  on the Beatles Taxman? - Then wait for others to respond.

I'll try with an easy one - Who played the lead on While My Guitar Gently Weeps?

LOL thanks guys there is a really beat-up Strat at the local guitar shop for cheep and maybe I can get that Guild there too. THat means another keyboard has to go and i'll only be left w/ the Roland.

No need to get rid of the keyboard - Think outside the box! Under a bed, the trunk of your car, tucked away in the attic.. there are all sorts of places to hide your obsession. Keep a guitar or 2 at each of your cousins, brothers and friends places. Switch 'em out on occasion and the wife will never know. No use fighting it, just feed it. Where there is a will there is a way.

Detman,

I was in a similar circumstance about a year ago. The construction industry is all of a sudden majorly into "green buildings". My company came out with a requirement that all Project Managers become LEED certified. It's a heel of a tough test - 35% initial passing rate. It covers all aspects of construction - site selection, recyclable materials, rain water preservation, efficient plumbing fixtures - I'm an electrician! what do I know or care to know about these items!

Anyway -I gathered some study materials and read for an hour 2 most nights - took a couple of sample tests with good success. The time came to take the test, and I fluncked by ONE point (got a 74, needed 75). The test results showed where my weaknesses were, so I concentrated on those and re-tested a month later. Passed with an 86.

I was in a remote site and had to study by myself. Others in the office formed a study group and spent many lunches together and time after work to study and quiz themselves. That proved very helpful for those folks - I suggest you try the same thing if you can.

Regardless, I am sure you can do it and after all is said and done, the effort will be worth it. Good Luck!

Congrats Amy and Steph! I have 3 boys, my brother has 3 girls. For years I have ribbed him about going to dance recitals and other "girly" stuff while I was able to participate (coach) my boys playing sports.

That said, having watched these videos, I realized I have missed something. Adorable is not a strong enough word.

My Man Cave / Computer / Music Room is subterranean with noise attenuating insulation and anti-eavesdropping electromagnetic noise filters on all incoming power and data lines. This is primarily so that no one can hear my guitar playin' and singing. To keep the gub'ment out, I always wear one of these.

Roger - I have no opinion on your electrifying options, just wanted to say Happy NGD! A good playing / sounding 12 string is a thing of beauty.

Every time I have had the opportunity to play with another has turned out to be a huge benefit and a ton on fun despite my trepidations. I always learn something and even more important, I lose some of my fears (the alcohol might help there). But in reality just to strum along with someone by watching their fingering, recognizing the key, anticipating the chord changes, and to sing along with another who has been there before and will not judge is a huge benefit. I wish I had a regular jam session, I have no doubt it would help me progress that much faster.

I absolutely encourage everyone who might be sitting on the fence to GO FOR IT! I have no doubt you will come out a better player and with more appreciation of your own skills.

Zurf has some pics of our jam - I'm sure they will be posted soon. Any chordians ever in my area, look me up. Steaks are on me.

I just dragged myself out of bed. A large coffee and a couple of aspirins should put me right in short order. A sign of a great night. I do not get a chance to jam with a partner very often, and last night was a blast indeed. Zurf is quite a talented finger picker and also has a great singing voice. It was also the first time I have heard my guitar played by someone other than me, and it sounds even better from a listening perspective than a playing one. I'm sure that also has something to do with the skill of the player.

Zurf is welcome to jam with me any time. I had so much fun, I've really got to see if I can make the next Zurfapalooza.

And thanks so much for introducing me to that wonderful Woodford Reserve. My head may not think so, but that is some fine sippin whiskey.
