bswyers - maybe you already know this, maybe you don't - You can change the instrument setting here on chordie to mandolin. Look under the resources tab - change settings. This will give you mando chord fingerings for all songs as default. The wife should probably get her own chordie account so you don't have to change back and forth every time. There is a list of public mandolin songbooks here

http://www.chordie.com/publicbooks.php? … ollections

There are only 10 books, but one is labeled "EZ Mandolin", so that may be a good place to start. Good Luck!

Where Have All The Loyal Chordians Gone ?

The question is where have you gone? I still visit / check chordie everyday. I may not post as many questions - but that's because YOU are not here to answer them. Sure, I know.. a newborn kid and a toddler, lessons and a busy gigging schedule - no more time for us regular folks.

So - what is the strumming pattern to Margaritaville?

I've said it before and I'll say it again - Do yourselves a favor and check out John Pearse strings. The best sounding, longest lasting string for my dollar and I have tested dozens of different string brands / flavors.

I recently tried the new Dean Markley "Helix" strings and they sound good, but just didn't last as long as the JP's. I don't care for the feel of coated strings and had a huge problem snapping the Elixer G strings. The John Pearse last as long as elixer's, feel better, sound better and cost 1/2 as much as Elixer.

This is really cool Ms. Mouse - Hopefully folks who have prepared their own song / chord versions could use this information, post songs on their own pages, then request the songs be added to chordie's index by using this form:

http://www.chordie.com/addurl.php

I am sure this post will be useful to many in the future. Thanks for your hard work!

Welcome to Chordie Dirty Ed!

I had the pleasure of meeting / drinking / jamming with Zurf a few months ago. If you are anything like him, I am sure a good time was at hand.

Zurf - I always say if you go to work on Monday without being a little bite sore, that's proof you had a crappy weekend.

One of these weekends, I'll join ya!

One of my favorite quotes from Albert Einstein.

“I never commit to memory anything that can easily be looked up in a book."

That's why I always carry my song book when I have my guitar - there's only so much room in this old brain of mine.

Wow. Actually, I guess it's amazing that some of these have survived as long as they have.

Thanks bswyers - It's nice to be recognized once in a while. There was a time that chordie was being bombarded by porn spam, and that's the reason I volunteered to assist in moderating. The thought of my kids (or other kids) seeing that stuff turned my stomach. We don't see so much of that stuff these days which is a great thing - That said, I did take a bit of pleasure zapping and banning the scum when it did occur.

Come on spam scum - bring it on - we're waiting for ya!! big_smile

OK - The picks have now traveled over 60,000 miles which is over 2X "around the world" in terms of mileage. The map is now updated:

http://maps.google.com/maps/ms?f=q& … =h&z=2

I sure hope it's still on the move and would love to see a photo from the next recipient. It sounds like it has evolved quite nicely from the original simple package of picks.

Hi ruger74 and welcome to chordie. Looks like a pretty good set is available here:

Free registration is required.

If you don't want to go through the hassle of registering, there is bit of a dodgy set here:
