I agree with Zurf. Someone will win, neither are the best, we all likely have an opinion on which is the better of two evils.
We are a middle class Union family here... so there's traditionally only been one choice and it's a party line, not a person. I wish it didn't come down to that though, I haven't been happy with anyone running since the first election I was old enough to vote in.
I just did the same thing. I better check the peanut butter cups though too, just to be sure!
Friends nearby lost power, the wind blew pretty good, but we were fine here. Never lost power and thank GOD we didn't get the storm here as bad as they were predicting. I guess just a bit south did, and of course it seems NYC and NJ are still under water. Crazy. Hope any of our friends in that area are safe!!!
Happy B.day Chordie! Per - your baby is growing up! Congrats!!!
-14, but we still did some of the drills in early elementary school. Sad thing is, today they do drills in the event some local comes into the school on a shooting spree instead. My parents have recounted the day when JFK was shot and how school let out, without much of a word that it even was; teachers just left. I'll have to ask them if they remember this day as well and what they heard about it.
HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY!!!!
Sounds like they know what they're talking about and they've taken everything into consideration. That's good. Slicing ya from breastbone to navel doesn't sound great though. On the other hand, once they're in there, if there's anything that needs to come out they'll be able to see it and take care of it right then and there. That IS a good thing. We're all keeping you and the doctors in our thoughts here!
Happy NGD! Never heard of that brand, but it's a nice looking guitar. I hear ya about Thanksgiving $$ (remember Christmas is right behind).
Here I thought I was going to be coming in having to hollar at people not to get too political.
SELL NO GUITARS!
Better to hear it straight and not mess around. The lymph nodes are not a diagnosis for the end. My dad just beat non-hodgkin's lymphoma. The treatment was hell, but he's doing great now. Here's hoping they can figure out a good treatment and get you on a recovery plan. I've found when it comes to cancer, they don't screw around and they get to work asap with beating it. Please tell me that you are not there by yourself though. Do you have someone with you to talk all this through? We're here NELA if you need to talk it through with us. I'm so sorry that you have to go through this. I have a feeling that you are a pretty tough guy though, and you'll kick it's butt!
Very true Zurf! It would sure be true wilderness camping, bring with you whatever you may need. Dig a hole, or bring in a port-a-john... bring water, or I think there may be some wetlands out at the far end of the 17! LOL! Hey, I would LOVE to see that land get used for something. Hmmmm... Chordie-Stock?
Hugs and Kisses. I know none of this news is what you wanted to hear, however without them having gotten in there to look at the heart, they may have never found the kidney issue until you were sick and perhaps by then things could be much less fixable. Fingers are crossed and prayers are being said. I'm sorry you are going through this. We're all here if you need to lean on us, if you need it private there's email links too. We love you!
I do hereby identify myself as an interested participant residing in the Central NY area. June gets tricky for us as the kids are generally in school here until the end, so July or August would actually work best. Jim always has to go to Michigan mid-July so that gets a little tricky (he skipped it entirely the year we came down), so I guess August actually is the best month if I have to put ONE on the table.
We have 17 acres of wooded land, I wish it had some electric and such running to it as it would make for an awesome campsite. On the other hand, we also have close to an acre of backyard with enough room for tents. My dad has even more space and is near some awesome fishing (I'm just close to a lake). I know that wouldn't be most convenient for you Zurf, but it could be a heck of good fun... although I don't think the salmon start running usually until early September. I'll have to triple check on that just for the heck of it. We're good with heading south though. It was a great time and a beautiful trip!
I'll bring dead cow, some Goat, and my Martin.
Congrats Gramps! As the saying goes, "If I'd have known Grandkids were this much fun, I'd have had THEM FIRST!" Enjoy!!!
It's amazing how much the Pikcs Package has changed since it's first trip around the world!
Hi Bushy!!! thank you for sharing the pics of the Picks (and thanks Zurf for posting!)
Congrats on the Anniversary! Jim and I just had our 10th. We went to a dinner and gambling. LOL! It paid off (went with $200, had dinner and drinks and came home with $225). Hope you and the wife enjoyed your night!!!
Hi Elliot and welcome to Chordie! Have you perused the Recording section of the forum yet? It's possible a mod from this section may actually move your thread there. There's a ton of info there on recording your playing from the basics to setting up a virtual studio. A lot of folks like the free Audacity software (or Garage Band if you have a Mac). As for recording devices, they range from built in mics or simple computer mics and up. I personally use my zoom recorder and then transfer the files to the computer and edit with Audacity if need be. There are some pretty cheap options for recording, it all just depends on how much you actually consider cheap?
Interesting. This sounds more like a computer problem than a standard mechanical problem. It makes me feel a little "old". Used to be if your vehicle wouldn't go into drive you knew it had something to do with the transmission, fluid, or linkage. There really weren't any other options. Sigh... I guess this is why my teenage son has no clue how vehicle's work. I guess it's a good day and age to be a mechanic who also loves computers. Good luck Zurf!!!
AWESOME! Let us know when the happy new guitar day gets here, and be sure to post some pictures of your two babies together!
Welcome to Chordie Katie and Hashmat!!!
Ha ha! Very true Dave. It's been said before, although honestly most song requests are from new members that never read anything on the forum but instead just hop in and ask their question. Of course, maybe your thread title will get a few of them reading!
Amy
We all love chordie! I'll give a big round of THANK YOU'S to you members offering the thanks. It's because of the great members here, and the volunteer work that the mods and admin do that makes it great. Yes, Admin does get a little cash for the ads, however I don't believe it makes any money, only helps support the fees required in hosting such an amazing site.
So right back at ya, THANK YOU MEMBERS for being so great to keep such a great site going!!!
mmmmmmmm.... BACON!
Sorry, I just don't think I could do it. Although I think I could probably do vegan better than I could do the whole flour thing. I really am quite addicted to carbs. Either way, GOOD FOR YOU! 23 pounds in 3 weeks and still feeling awesome is pretty gosh darn amazing!
So very sorry to hear about the loss of your dear friend and family. Heartwrenching to have a diagnosis, a plan to try to cure it and lose him anyway. Blessings to you, your wife, and the entire family.
