That you sound like Don Williams is a great compliment indeed, Joe. I just had to pass up a $40.00 a seat ticket to see him nearby, and my wife and I love his music. So are you on SoundCloud, so I can decide for myself? Hmmmmmm? (he asks with an evil grin). wink

Beginning with today, I would like to feature something I would like to call "The Monday Morning Classics", intended to get y'all moving on your week. Let's say it's the most I could do. smile

Today, it's Rossini's FUNNY William Tell Overture by the Mnozil Brass. Enjoy, my friends and we send our love!

Makes sense, my friend. And may I respectfully decline the "Powers of Observation" award? If I had taken the trouble to read as I should have, we both might have saved some bandwidth.......

Get it? "Bandwith"? smile

In the days of paper, we might have saved a tree!!!!! smile

Oh my goodness! I'm going back to bed on that one!

Your Pal

Bill

Oh, God yes! You nailed it, Zurf! smile

I 100% agree!

Bill

Nice, TIG

And how could I not like it? smile

I put it out there asking for help and here you were, just like always.

Thanks so MUCH, Jim!

Well, then... maybe WE can bake y'all some!

Since it is just the 2 of us, we'd have a better chance of getting to USP than you would, Amy!

Make sense? smile

Okay, shutting it up. wink I think we overwhelmed her. smile

Okay, okay..... I overwhelmed her.

But she started it! It was she who overwhelmed  me! smile

Jan: Don't mind me, I'm just having fun with my friends here, but everything I wrote about the song you sang for us is spot on. You touched quite a few of us, and we're glad to have you onboard. Don't be a stranger, okay?

Russell,

Whenever one of my Chordie friends lets me know there's something on the Cloud or YT, I try to get to either one as well as make a comment here, just in case. I don't always make it as fast as I like, but that's why I go back and forth.

My reasoning is: You took "X" amount of time getting set up, talking to us and then playing. It's only fitting that I spend the same amount of time listening and watching.

You didn't have to do that for me/us, but you kindly took the trouble, and I know to appreciate that.

So no truss rod? Sounds like it would be tough to keep in tune? McCartney's early Höfner had no truss either and he was constantly tuning it. I'm missing something here, I'm certain. Right? smile

Hey, Mo'

I forgot to mention that I did learn a little guitar while in the USAF. One of my squaddies taught me barre chords to the tune of Frijid Pink's "Venus", remember that one?

Sadly until I heard he didn't make it out of Nam, I kept trying to find him. Charlie's on that big black wall now .

You're a great performer of your stuff. Make me a cd, autograph it and send it to me.

I might need to make some money on eBay one day. smile smile smile

Good questions, Bill ...

According to an interview with David Gilmour (following the release of "The Endless River" late last year) there are no more songs in the vault waiting for release. He  basically stated (with obvious sad quietude) that the Pink Floyd era is over.

I only saw them once (Montreal, 1975) and the show was around 2.5 hours ... and absolutely amazing! I've since seen The Australian Pink Floyd Show, and they're actually very good, almost as good as the real thing. They use two guitarists: Steve Mac has Gilmour's style down pat (especially in "Pigs: Three Different Ones"), and David Fowler plays "Run Like Hell" better than Gilmour does! IMHO If you get a chance to see these guys down your way, you won't be disappointed.

Not much for "Tribute Bands", TF - even those who are right on every note. I just prefer the orginals.

As far as what's still in or not in the vault, I bet Roger Waters knows. wink

Thanks

Russell,

Since I am the one who began the thread with my question, allow me to be the first to thank you "Vom ganzen Herzen" ("With my whole heart") for your time, effort and talents in showing me/us the very definitive changes from minor to major keys.

I wrote a comment on YouTube as well.

I thoroughly enjoyed "Colors In The Wind"! It is a beautiful tune, and I'm going to "kidnap" it and say you did it for me, since I started the thread about the minor keys. J/K wink

You ROCK, Sir!

Sometimes I feel like I have 4 pounds of it in a 3 pound bag, my friend. smile

People don't usually like to be around me at those times, so luckily the meds help the anxiety and panic attacks.

But ironically, those are the times when I'm at my most creative.

My son calls it "Dad's 'Hulking' Out, Mom!"

Ah, apparently what happened was I got the e-mail from "Peatle Jville" and it mentioned a "conversation". When I clicked on the link, it used to take me straight to his song, but then when I added my comments, it took it away and I had to do a search on his name to find it again.

Thank you, Rick

Bill

PS: If you're talking about "Copperhead Road", it's on there by Graham as well, so I don't see the problem. But you "ARTISTES" are a
creative/demanding bunch, so I'll say no more. ("Wink-wink, nudge-nudge") smile

I can't find rickyjack's nor Peatle's tune(s) anymore.

Bill

Thank you, Graham, I agree. I've always thought (and so has Dondra) that you have the "Kristofferson Look". Have you ever performed any tunes written by Kris?

My all time favorite is "Pilgrim: Ch. 33"".

But back to the subject, I wonder how Tom Petty would feel if you told him his music sounded like Roger (Jim) McGuinn of The Byrds at times?

Thanks

I believe there was made the mention of some chocolate chip cookies in a previous post? smile

Permit me an evil chuckle, here, please. wink

I hereby announce my comical plan to take hostage all of the "heavies" here on Chordie, (beginning with Roger on down) for , shall we say, 20 chocolate chip cookies? Heheheheh!

That and at least 25 weekly appearances on the forums! Heheheheheh! smile smile

Many happy years for all concerned, and TIG, it's good to see you back!

Bill

When folks say that to you players, meaning they hear in what you write/sing someone like Dylan, McCartney, Diana Krall (I'll get to HER in a moment), does that offend y'all?

I thought about posting this question, because of the "ruffled feathers factor", but then I realized we all have our big girl/big boy pants on and can take it.

I guess it's tough to find an original "voice" these days, isn't it? I believe the last available one was taken by Mr. Tom Waits (with no offense intended to Mr. Waits and/or his fans) and , in my opinion, Ms. Diana Krall (shut up, my beating heart!)

And what of the songs themselves, the music? Is it okay for me to tell you I hear strains of "Oh Let The Saints....." (farfetched example) in your tune?

All very touch stuff, isn't it? Especially written by a guy who can't hold a candle to any of the rest of you, but it isn't meant to annoy. Just a straight-out question.

And Jandle. You sound like Diana Krall, which is a COMPLIMENT of the hugest porportions.

There. I said it.

All the best

I love the way people are having a go at your lyrics. I would like to see a International  movement formed called
If Sunshine Were Mine. With all sorts of musicians giving their take on your lyrics to that song  and putting them up on soundcloud. I have put my version up on  soundcloud under Peatle Jville which I think is not that good but the best I could do so at the moment I place myself at third place getter.
So far three countries have submitted I would like to hear more from every where. Mo and Phill love your versions.
I hope more New Zealanders would give it ago as the Northern Hemisphere has got the lead at the moment.

Hi Peatle

Forgive the lateness of the reply, I am only just awake and wanted to make sure I was making sense before I answered. smile

First, thanks for that beautiful rendition of the song. As I wrote on the Cloud, it makes me think of a Jazz tune. Am I right in that is your style of playing, or is it all-encompassing.

I had to smile, when I read your idea. I related it to my wife Dondra and she smiled from ear to ear that a few words of love would create such a stir of emotions and such pretty music.

Later today, I plan to add your version to the blog, if I have your permission.

Thanks again for those very kind words, Pete

The thing is, I can't seem to stop listening to this song!!!!!

I'm seeing all kinds of scenery and scenarios; some idiot watching a ball game with a beautiful woman watching him watching and thinking all that stuff and I'm wondering if the dolt could hear her saying/singing this, would it make a difference?

Probably not. Some guys are just meant to be jerks, Jandle and this is one.

If I were there, I believe I'd jerk him out of his chair, smear him up with mustard and ask him doesn't he know what a wonderful woman he's in the process of losing here???

He doesn't even deserve to be mentioned here on Chordie, I think so little of him!

Roger! Sir! We need a new law that says jerks like him with no chance of rehab, should get to listen to this pretty song ONE time, and then, when and if he sees the light, the rest of us guys pick him up and throw him out of the internet. He had his chance. Out he goes.

Then we all put on ties, bring Jan a bouquet of flowers and a bottle of Dom Perignon and spend the rest of the evening telling her what a beautiful song she has written and how that guy didn't deserve her in the first place, and also to let one of us know if he comes slithering around again!

*Whew*

I think I'm done.

Well, since we're on the subject: Been on YT lately? People are taking Floyd tunes and rearranging them into the order they believe the tracks should have been released. They go as far as far as re-titling the albums, but are always quick to point out it's a "fan tribute".

Same thing with The Beatles. I think I would rather hold out for music from their children than this mish-mash, however.

When you think about it - all the Beatles' kids are musical, so why not?

I don't know the Floyd's that well,  so is that possible with their children?

Who knows?

Sounds like I don't wanna let 'em go either, doesn't it? Well, that's true, I don't, and if "cloning" them is a way of keeping them with us, why not try it?

You know I'm not serious about "cloning" them right?  smile
