Yeah that would work fine. Or just
X212xx
That gets root, 3, and b7. Perfect voicing if you aren't sitting on it too long.

You can prolly forgo color tones and just play roots and fifths while you drink jim beam from the bottle. Just sayin.
I was 5 when I started!!!
so he likes him some power chords and chunkin?
Addendum - I will say that not enough players think of the bassist as helping to form the chord. We don't always need to play root, 3rd, 5th, 7th. I play a lot of 3rd and 7ths or 3rd, 7th, 9ths (color tones), let the bassist handle the root and ignore the 5 (unless it's a dim chord).
Right around this week, 30 years ago, I played guitar for the first time.
Should have seen me 45 minutes ago y'all. Just had a dog s*** rehearsal. Livid! Deep breaths...
Classical players do a lot more voice leading than we do. Inversions are pretty irrelevant for rock chording.
I have just hArd to give suggestions w/o seeing....
Buddy left before we were done. It did not go well.
I am STILL struggling with the open B7. Reference this tread from over two years ago.

What I'm finding is that any chord which involves my pinky is still a bit problematic. Open B7, G as 320033 , open G with fingers 2-4, etc. etc.Working on it, but my pinky is stubborn.
Play it as x21222 and barre the top three strings with your ring finger. That makes it a 9 chord which is going to sound find in 99.99% of pop music.
I have tons of guns. Love shooting and have my ccw
This guys lives in Vegas. Saw him last night. Incredible.
outstanding stuff man.
You're pretty damn good at PS dude.
I love the blues fix.
How do you play an open eb twangtown?
Steve Jordan and Pino Palladino are both insane musicians. Beamer if you haven't checked him out other than his teenie bopper stuff, I'll give you two other tracks to marvel in:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ahbb9rz … re=related Only one comment here: Ho-ly S***. Little baby Hendrix on guitar. Yeah, I said it. Wow. And shut your mouth Steve Jordan. Ridiculous.
and....
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-i__R__umCA Covering Hendrix? Classy. Making the teenage girls love Hendrix??? Priceless. Thank you for bringing it back, John!
I agree with Jerome. Yet again.
He's a smarmy prick for sure. But this album is gooooooooood. Dm it's not teenie bopper stuff...it's roots rock. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d0AqVSoaCGk
Anyone purchased John Mayer's newest release? I can't stop listening to it. Great album.
I had two tough gigs. One was when I played at Buddy Guy's bar, opening for a friend of mine. We were young and inexperienced and had no business being there. The stage sat atop a power transformer for the subway so you could hear nothing but line hum in the monitors. We are nervous. About to go on. My buddy walks up as we finish tuning and says "dont get nervous but Buddy is here."
Worst show I ever played.
Second worst was when I was coughing up a lung from mild pneumonia in between songs. That was gross. Voice was shot within an hour.
They're tired of hemorrhaging money and want to turn it around.
