Great Catch Cam! - The '9ers could use you - It seems these guys just have a knack for finding ways to lose.
Thanks for the link bswyers. This was the kind of fight that has turned me off from MMA. I was a fan back in the early days of Shamrock and Gracie - the fighting then was much more technical and it was interesting to watch fighters of different disciplines take each other on. It was also much cheaper to watch on PPV than it is these days. From I have seen recently, the current fights are much more like WWF wrestling than they were true mixed martial arts like it was in the beginning. Street fighting instead of technical like it was back in the day. I'd say the brutality has increased, and that is what has turned me off.
Here ya go Daibank

Welcome to chordie - In the future, please post song requests in the proper forum.
"Maxed Out" is an excellent name for a Rock Band - or a Songbook.
Tony Romo is a mediocre quarterback. I don't hate him but he is not good. He doesn't understand the game the way the great ones do. He's got about 2 more years before they give up on him. He just doesn't have it. I've watched him play...he's just middle of the pack.
You can blame Wade Phillips or even Jason Garrett (and Jones will shit can both of them) but no amount of coaching will make Tony Romo a good quarterback...sorry he just doesn't have it.That team is dripping with talent and their goal is to be 8 and 8....they are a giant dissappointment.
Romo sucks - I agree - Let's compare QB rankings / ratings since Romo's first starting year to the haloed one:
Year Romo Brady
'06 5th / 95.1 9th / 87.9
'07 5th / 97.4 1st / 117.2
'08 8th / 91.4 injured
'09 8th / 97.6 9th / 96.2
Now - I'm a big believer that a great QB is judged by his rings, not his ratings (see Marino, Tarkenton, etc.), but come on, Romo is above mediocre. Granted, he is no Brady (yet), but Brady is special - not many like him in the NFL.
Jerry Jones is a brilliant business man, no doubts. He got the city to foot the bill for his "Taj Mahal" stadium. Whereas the Krafts footed most of the bill to construct the New stadium for the Patriots.
You might want to check your figures. From I've read, the city of Arlington provided roughly $325 million of financing (plus interest). This is a relatively small percentage of the $1.3 billion cost of the stadium. I'd say "most" of the cost was paid for JJ and the Cowboys.
As for the America's Team marketing - I can understand where other fans would be jealous - This actually began back in the Tex Schramm days, the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, etc. The NFL as a whole would not be where it is today without it. But still, the Cowboy's are Americas Team, consistently lead the league in apparel sales are at $1.8B, are the most valuable franchise in the NFL.
edited to add "million"
The Pats are dogs? Come on man.....They were the dominant team of the decade. They were way more dominant than the Cowboys of the 90's. You can't say they are forever dogs. The Cowboys have remained insignificant since Jimmy Johnson left (though they snuck one in with the same personnel under Switzer).
I was speaking more in a historical context - before the recent success of the Pats, they were little better than also-rans for decades. I absolutely respect Brady and their recent accomplishments, despite costing me a bunch of $ on the loss to the Giants in '08. But come on man - The 'Boys have been in the playoffs 30 times, Div Champs 21 times, and are 5-3 in the big one. Compare that to the Pats 16 appearances, 11 championships and 3-3 SB record, and I will argue that as a franchise, Dallas is twice as successful, despite your longer history.
I agree re: Romo - He still has to prove himself as a SB caliber QB - however I contend he has the raw talent and with the right coaching, he could win one. There have certainly been worse QB's who have won rings in the past.
This thread is what makes it great being a Cowboys fan - The last 10 posts either mentioned or were directly about the Cowboys, all from self avowed Cowboy haters. The Cowboys are a team that everybody has an opinion about - love or hate. They are like the Yankees of Football. How many other teams fuel that kind of passion? The Seahawks have never meant anything to anybody, totally irrelevant in the scheme of things - the 49ers? - once a contender, now a cute team with a passionate, well liked coach - no more. The Pats - Forever a dog despite recent success with a not so honest coach. Brady was a great find in the 6th round, but don't forget - Romo was a undrafted rookie free agent - still unproven, but a good find nonetheless.
And the Jerry Jones talk is and always has been total BS - what other business does an owner make a multi-million or hundreds of million dollar investment then expect to stay "hands off"? - Not in any company I have ever worked for that's for sure. If it were my $, I'd want to be involved also. Jerry has had much more success than almost every owner, so that argument is beyond defeated.
With all that said, this years Cowboys team is the most talented, undercoached team I have ever witnessed in 35+ years of being a Cowboys fan. That said, the NFC East is unusually weak this year and it ain't over yet.
Have a great day badeye!
Have a great time Cam.
Congrats NELA! - As a long time construction worker, I know how pleasant it is to finally get a chance to go home. If you're like me, a week or 2 is good - then it's time to get back on the road.
Amazing rescue and TV viewing - I was up 'till about 2:00 a.m. watching the first 4 come up, woke up at 7:00 and saw nearly every miner emerge from the rescue capsule. I had tears nearly every time, a fantastic "feel good" story served twice an hour. All the miners are up, 5 rescuers to go. An amazing happy ending to what could have been a huge nightmare. CHI-CHI-CHI- EL-EL-E. Actually, this was a world-wide effort - major congrats to the American drill operator who punched the hole!
Congrats Gil - I'd appreciate it if you would kick the fat socialist scum right where it counts for me.

Just checking. Thanks.
I believe you've got it!

I don't even like to use the john with door closed as I have a bit of claustrophobia. I can't imagine working underground for 8 hours, I'd have lost my mind being trapped 1/2 mile underground for 69 days. The first miner should be pulled out soon - makes some compelling TV. Good luck and God bless 'em.
33 miners stuck 69 days in 90 degree heat - funk?
^Awesome BV - I think I've got some more of the chordie picks (that seem to be gone) and I'll try to dig up some other goodies to add and continue on the journey.
Jim - I sent you an email. If I'm not next in line, I hope at a minimum you can post some photos of the package.
Jeff
I have no advice for you about your new Tele as I am an acoustic player, but I want to welcome you to chordie and wish you a happy NGD! (new guitar day)
^ Thanks Cam - The pack has ECU in Greenville next week. It's a classic trap game - one we should win easily, but ECU will be bringing their best and we'll be looking forward to FSU the following week. Hope TOB can keep our guys focused.
I've been a Cowboys fan for over 35 years and never have I seen a team with so much talent playing at such a low level. The blame falls solely on the coaching. I'd love to see how good we could be with the passion Singletary brings to the game. Or Bill Cowher... Are you watching? JJ needs you and he's got plenty of $. Phillips and Garrett have got to go!
At least my 'Canes are 2-0! It's great to watch kids with with hustle and passion.
Not sure if this is cool or sacrilege
so this forum has nothing to do with the nfl? all i'm seeing is messages about pac-10 and ACC
Could someone please direct me to a forum for NFL fans and people that want to talk football
So you come to a music forum and complain that a sports related post got a little off topic? Welcome to chordie - that type of thing is pretty common around here and no one really gets uptight about it.
There are a bunch of sports related forums out there to choose from:
Topdown,
Why you gotta dis my Bluedevils
C'mon Man
LOL
Sorry Man - Heck - You guys had our number last year - I've got no reason to dis 'em.
It's funny the difference a year can make - that loss to the Dookies was about the low in my 30 years of being a State fan. But this year I am fired up again!! Resiliency - That's something you learn pulling for the Wolfpack!
