Offended?

Your problem, I sure didn't intend it that way.

Okay, I finished it myself, y'all! smile Here's the finished product and I appreciate your faith in me that I can get something done.

Here is:

                                                                                      Broken Cover
                                                                                         Bill Craig
                                                                                           9/16/15

===========================

I try and I try just to stay out of her way

But today she saw me and I didn't know what to say

She's so pretty and oh so cool

But she's 17 and almost out of school

And here I'll be just a   15 year old guy

Afraid to tell her and afraid to even try

CHORUS:
I gotta break --- my cover! Can't let her get away

Break--- my cover! But I don't know what to say

I'm a loner and I'm lonely and I'll always be that way

If I don't break break --- my cover!

Today I saw her and I tried to walk up close

But Jimmy saw her first,  and man that really blows

I saw she caught my eye and then gave me a smile

For a smile like that I'd run a hundred miles.

Then this afternoon I saw her, practicing her cheers

I decided that I'd do it, to hell with all my fears

SILENCE:::::::::::::

(drum roll):spoken: Curiously she watched as I cautiously approached

Am I some kinda stalker, am I some kinda roach?

"No", she decided as she slowly walked my way

'Why did you wait so long?", she asked.

"Please don't walk away?"

Chorus:
I'm glad I broke my cover, I broke it just today

The girl of my dreams will never walk away

I broke -- my cover, and you can do it too

Bre-aak your cover, let your love come shining through.

Finish with repeat chorus........

==============================================

Please correct and thanks for considering this and thanks also, Graham and Mazzie!

Peatle,

You know what made me grin ear to ear?

Before you began to play, you said, "This is a Bill Craig song, ......." just like I'd been writing all of my life!

That just shickeled the ummmmm_________________ out of me, my friend. Thanks once again for saying something that reminded me of these guys.........   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1gDhR1R3S0s

When that came out of your mouth along with the music you provided, it just made my whole day! Hell, even my whole life!

I'm so grateful and so is my Dondra. I like to call her "Madondra" (after Madonna). She turns her nose up at me and sniffs like she doesn't like it , but secretly, I know she's pleased. wink

Hearing some Django Reinhardt/Merle Travis influences in his playing. Anyone else agree?

Thanks

I found him by accident when Grah1's cover of Mazzie's tune bled into another song of his which is entitled "Short Attention Span".

Maybe some of you gigsters will enjoy this? I sure hope so!

She just handed me this and I read it through a little rain falling on my face, and thought y'all might want to see it?

Here it is, it has no title as of yet. She very RARELY writes, so this is special. We hope y'all like it.

=====================================

"The sunshine that you gave to me

Warmed my heart and soul

It chased away the shadows and then my life felt whole

Sunshine painted all the corners of my life

Surrounding me with comfort and taking away the strife

Sunshine, invisible, surrounding me, so warm

Swaddles me, comforts me and so I fear no harm

Reminding me of you and your selfless devotion

I'm fortunate to know a love that so transcends emotion

Your gift flowed gently in the room,  grew into my heart

And took away the gloom.

I never knew you had the Sunshine

That it was saved for me

God leant to you the sunshine

And was pleased that you chose me.

Special gifts like Sunshine are so, so very rare

God trusted you with Sunshine

Because He knows how much you care"

I know that name! Can we trace her IP and see where she is at least or is that frowned upon?

I agree with Phill and if she's the person I remember, she deserved banning. IF that's her name that is. I'm just curious.

Thanks

Hey Friends

It's your old half-song writing buddy, me!

When our friend Mazzy did her song "Broken" for us on SoundCloud, our friend Grah1 ("Gray'one" - finally GOT it smile ) did his own version and called it Broken Cover, as in a cover of Mazzy's tune.

But I, as I usually do, saw it and read it differently, so here's the beginnings/snatches of a tune as seen through the eyes of a 15 year old high school kid.

==================================================

Broken Cover

I try and try just to stay out of her way

But today she saw me and I didn't know what to say

She's so pretty and oh so cool

But she's 17 and almost out of school

And here I'll be just a   15 year old guy

Afraid to tell her that I love her and afraid to even try

CHORUS:
I gotta break my cover! Can't let her get away

Break my cover! But I don't know what to say

I'm a loner and I'm lonely and I'll always be that way

If I don't break break my cover!

Today I saw her and I tried to walk up close

But Jimmy saw her first,  and man that really blows

I saw she caught my eye and then gave me a smile

For a smile like that I'd run a hundred miles.

This afternoon I saw her

Chorus:
I'm glad I broke my cover

So that's the end chorus up there: (I'm glad I......)

====================================================

and that's where my mind has stopped or my meds are failing me, I don't know which. Care to help me out? As always, you'l get co-writing credit. Can't take it with ya', right?

Thanks for any help

Your Pal

Hi Roger

Would there be a way to include a link to a rhyming dictionary or are they all spammers when you go there?

Thanks

Notes left for you on both versions, Mazzy and Graham. I loved both versions, by the way. I could have copied and pasted the comments from SOundCloud, but I want you to go to where you made your music and read them there. Much more fitting, in my eyes?

A note to my other friend, Graham: When you wrote the title of your version of Mazzy's tune. I got the idea for a new song I'd like to try. Know what it's called?

"Broken Cover" smile smile smile

Does this have a name, everyone?

When you rhyme a word (let's take rhyme and time) with another that sounds the same, then that's a definite rhyme, right?

What's it called when you do an oblique rhyme such as "tame" with "pain"?

Thanks,

Bill (who is typing in the dark in an attempt not to wake Dondra, who came in from work at 1:30 am as stiff and as sore as she could be.)

The normal "C" is better than the one you call the "Long C" in the other thread, but I'm blocking strings like crazy. I'll continue practicing that C/G/C/G exercise.

Thanks very much for your help, BGD

Thanks, BGD for your time and effort! I did the long C just now and can't reach that 8th fret with the pinky. I do better with the ring finger pressing down.

My fingers are short and stubby, and then there is that dadgum arthritis. When I stretch that pinky, I can barely reach it where it's supposed to go, can't press down and my hand starts shaking. Should I stay with the short. easy C?

Thanks!

Roger,

VERY nice - expensive? I need to get my Chordie shirt first, though. I'm on a diabetic diet now (I'm borderline diabetic), so I'll wait until I can get the right size. :0

All the best to you

......Smearing hemorrhoid cream...... on her face! (What did y'all think I was gonna write???? Shame on you!)  smile smile smile.

So I reminded her that with my own tube (yup I have 'em, so what? wink ) I once tried to brush my teeth*,  and did she realize what she was doing?

She said, "Yeah, I do, Honey. It shrinks the wrinkles."

"Okay", I replied. "Just checking".

So I walked out of her bathroom wondering what she'd look like if she really had those things on her face. smile Kidding! smile

Who'd a thunk it, that the women think of doing stuff like that?

This will be her first night working after the procedure she had done on her heart. Y'all please wish us luck, send some mojo and pray - however you do it.

Thanks

Bill

*In all fairness to me, that tube LOOKED like my toothpaste tube! Really! smile

So when I found that there were a couple of ways to make an easy G and C, I looked for an easy "B" and found Tom Michaud's YT installment for that: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B6xbJazlViE

And, as you can see, the guy's double-jointed making all those funky barres on his third form of the "B" chord.

Which leads me to write the following: Double-jointed people have an easier time learning the guitar. True or False, Chordies?
