Totally alright.  More is better!

And your observation on the sus2 being an inversion of the sus4 is a good one.

I love golf.  It is a game you learn and play your whole life.   I've been around a few aces, but I've never come within 10' of one myself.

Did you buy a round at the clubhouse, as required?

Lazy me!

I have the same problem.  One of the things I do to combat it is to practice without using my thumb.  I take it off the neck completely, and only use pressure from my fingers.  It's an odd feeling.  That, and a sample of Jameson 18, neat, often do the trick.

Thanks guys.  I think I understand.

However, Jerome, I'm hoping you made a typo, otherwise you're going to have to explain a bit further:

>>"2 (and 4) are usually tied in with "sus" or "suspended" chords.  That is, you substitute the 2 for the 3, or the 2 for the 4.   As such, you need to stay within the octave."<<

Did you mean to say:  "you substitute the 2 for the 3, or the 4 for the 3"?

If you meant to say that, then I get it.  If not, then how about using D, Dsus2 and Dsus4 to explain what you mean.

Brings to mind a second question:  What is the difference between a sus2 and an add2?

Thanks.

Yup, that's what I meant to say.  smile

The difference between a sus and an add is exactly that.  With the sus, you suspend the 3rd.   With the add, you play the 3rd, and just add the 2 to the chord.

It's the octave, and a bit more.

The bit more is that all extended chords (9, 11, 13) are all just enriched 7s.  That is, any time you see a C9, you could play a C7 and get away with it.   So the 9 is simply a continuation of the method used to build the 7.  You just keep stacking notes as you move higher in the octave.

2 (and 4) are usually tied in with "sus" or "suspended" chords.  That is, you substitute the 2 for the 3, or the 2 for the 4.   As such, you need to stay within the octave.

If you were playing a piano, rather than a guitar, it would be clearer.  Because the fretboard often requires us to "cheat" a bit on the chord structure, it's a bit more difficult to see.

Brilliant!

I'm thinking if I ever get one it will be the universal "no" circle with a line overtop of a chord diagram for the B chord.  Don't know where I'd put it.  Probably my buttocks just to show the B what I think of it.

Dude, you are an ever flowing fountain of inspiration.  big_smile

I've looked for a good tattoo of the circle, and haven't found one yet.  GIS comes up with nothing interesting.    If your husband is up to it, I'd be interested in looking at some designs, though.   Next time I'm in NY we could talk about it.

A bass amp will give you better response on those low notes, but it's safe to play through a guitar amp.  The amplifier drives the speaker cone regardless of the input.      Keep your amplifier set up in a reasonable way, and you should be able to play through it just fine.

I've run my bass (mounted with obnoxious humbuckers) through a 100W Crate guitar amp for months at concert volumes, and I still occasionally run it through a little 12W Kustom tube amp.    An amplifier has two jobs.  1st is to amplify the guitar signal.  2nd is to protect the speaker cabinet from damage.  Bass pickups don't generate any more signal than guitar pickups do.

At it's simplest, it's a three note chord.    When you hear of things like "major" and "minor,"  those are usually inferred to be triads, made up of the 1st, 3rd, and 5th of their associated scale.

So yeah, they're kinda important.  smile

Stairway isn't even the best song on that album.  Heck, it's not even the second or third best song on that album.  "Going to California,"  "Battle of Evermore," and "Misty Mountain Hop" are all better tracks.   And those three aren't even their best songs.   "Dazed and Confused,"  "Achilles Last Stand," "Braun Y-Aur Stomp," and "Over the Hills and Faraway" are all better.

I live by the "If you can't say anything nice, ask Jerome instead" rule.  smile

Really though, singing is just the same as playing.   As your playing improves, you'll gain confidence, and that will lead to better playing.    Singing is the same thing.  As you find confidence, you'll find your own voice, and it will sound fantastic.   If guys like Bob Dylan and Tom Petty can sing, so can you.

If it's buzzing at the 7th fret, I'd check the neck before adjusting the bridge.  If the truss rod is too tight, it would force the neck back.   Take a level and lay it on the edge of the neck to see how much or little it's bowed.

Also check the frets that are buzzing to see if they are worn or grooved.  I've got a fakeocaster with a notch ground in the 2nd fret on the 2nd string.  Don't know what key the guy played in, but it seems to be the only one he played in.  big_smile

Check your "battery saver" settings on the laptop.  Sometimes it will be configured to shut down the radio if it's idle for some period of time.  Mine used to do that, and it drove me nuts!
