As the guy on catch fraze says...say what you see. We get a lot of crows and seagull's, ugly birds that make a lot of noise and mess, always after I've washed the car!
Thanks TF and you Jim for giving it a read and comment.

A man's got to do what a man's got to do..... specially if you're getting the paid.
I did a bit of soldering Sunday now it works fine again.
It's funny though, I seem to get some problem or other everytime I play there. I had a great crowd which helped a lot
No. I can never remember the words. I'm lucky to remember my name there days...lol
i haven't played a gig for a few months, i just haven't felt like it. anyway, i played one saturday, and maybe this should be in Beamers "don't you hate it" thread, so i get to the venue, everyone's watching the world cup so i have to be quiet and not get in the way of the TV. eventually the game ends and i can set up and do my sound check.
pa...ok
mic...ok
backing tracks...ok
guitar...guitar? switch on amp...nothing. pull leads out, put them back in...nothing OMG!
so i pull out my guitar to FX lead and plug directly guitar to amp...working...relief. tried the other lead again...nothing.
so, i had to play all night without chorus, reverb/echo and most importantly sustain and distortion which i use to boost the guitar volume for solo's. so country songs were ok but rock songs sounded flat to me.
i muddled through but the upshot of it was that i got my mojo back and now i'm hungry for more gigs.
go figure?
I don't know why all my poems are on the humorous side of late but here's another one.
Sad Bird Singing.
I heard a bird singing.
Looking for a mate.
He didn't have those pretty feathers.
And his singing wasn't great.
That didn't stop him trying.
Though some others thought he should.
He sat upon my window sill.
And sang, because he could.
Pretty birds flying by.
Paid my bird no heed.
Next day when I looked for him.
He'd taken of his leave.
I'd like to think he found a mate.
Nested and made eggs.
His DNA made ugly chicks.
Plain feathers and spindly legs.
Well I think it's funny....fairly funny?
It couldn't be me....I couldn't box my way out of a paper bag...lol
Hi Diane and welcome. Our ratio of female to male here is quite low, so another female take on the range of subjects we tackle here will be very welcome.
For myself, I dabble with guitar, keyboard, drums, recording and trying to sing. I also write songs....sort of!
So, once again welcome to Chordie from Wales UK.
who could you be referring to? nice bit of rhyming with a story or is that a message?
it's called media misinformation. bending the truth to suit your/advertisers/financial/warmongers ends. rupert murdock lambasted the Australian labour party because his politics were conservative, (that probably means something different in the US?) he tried it in the UK too but failed so he moved to the US and became a citizen and formed Sky, which in the UK is heavily biased towards the tory party.
WOW, another rant, sorry. lets get back to the subject in hand.
what a fabulous poem. it has all the ingredients, well written and a conversation piece to get people talking and discussing.
full marks my friend
First gigs are always the most stressful. Don't worry about solo's, I mess more up than I play perfectly, and I still get asked back.
I can't remember my first gig, it was around 50years ago, but I knew that, that's what I wanted to do.... it's that applause you remember and the buzz as you leave the stage.
Keep it up and do some touching ballads and up tempo songs.
Thanks TF, I wasn't sure if it was the same day as us over the pond. I got more grampa cards than dad ones as the family keeps growing.
So, happy father's Day to you too and all the dads and silver strummers in Chordie land
A little update, I was just watching Jools Holland cos Chas & Dave were on and Dave was playing a cigar box guitar, but with 4 strings not 3 and it sounded more like a uke.
Just thought you'd like to know?
edited to change "his to uke" i detest predictive text
You've done a great job on that. Looks as good as it sounds. Are you going to join Sea Sick Steve's band? Love his music too. Rock on....
Nice rendition Grah, I think I'd give the chord structure a tweek Jim, that B7 doesn't sit well with me. The bluesy feel and Grahs voice all gravelly makes me want to hear TFs version even more.
There seems to be a problem with SoundCloud as I've tried several times to hear this song. As everyone seems to agree the song itself is very poignant and in yerr face brutal, pulling no punches. Excellently written and I'm sure performed. Looking forward to hearing it
i read the other day that copyright owners can charge thousands (of whatever currency you like) for just a few seconds of a song played on an advertisement or in a film or TV show.
in the UK pub landlords have to purchase a license to play music on a jukebox, and a bigger one for live music which is paid to the publishers and a smaller share to the writers and of course the owners of the recordings. so many snouts in the trough, eh? I wonder how it would work if the live artists only played original music?
i understand that Lennon/McCartney made very little in royalties while Epstein was alive, but once they employed Kline their fortunes grew exponentially.
PS. I used to work for a German company called Thyssen. Best job I've had. The Germans that came over with the firm were brilliant, their kids...not so as they had become Anglicised and very arrogant.
Dogs.
They are known commonly as German shepherds. I didn't know why it was only us that called them Alsatians. The trivia you can pickup on this site is amazing.
I believe it was Hitler and his cronies that called themselves Aryan's as they believed themselves decended from the Atlantians!
What makes any one better than another. Be they general's, royalty, presidents or dictators! I detest people that "lead" their armies in to battle....from behind, a long way behind. Which is why I have great respect for Nelson who was in the thick of battles and died amongst his sailors.
I also have little respect for "fat cats" million or billionaires that get richer by extorting as much money from the poor as they can get away with. An example of which are the UK government backed money lenders charging over1000% interest rates from desperate people. And they say dictatorship is bad?
Ann think Harry, by the way, is brilliant
Thanks for that Pete, very informative, as usual. Obviously your title of LoreMaster is deservedly earned.
ach zo mine herr! you vant da head chopp-ed offn?
seriously though, i heard that prince Charles bought a guitar similar to John Lennon's back in the 60's. and they reckon that Henry the 8th wrote green sleeves, i don't think he recorded it though?
i'm in total agreement with Jim. the melancholy feel given by the electric piano and the way you sing is perfect. if you intend to add a kids choir put them on the second half maybe with a drum track and guitars to give the song some extra power....not that it needs it.
glad to see you posting again
Bossa Nova time...I could almost see those scantily dressed dancers. Problem is...I can't get the tune outa my head!
TF. Thank you very much, high praise indeed. I had you in mind when I realised how rocky it was becoming. It is a true slice of life. I've been married 37 years now, 30 of them waiting. LOL
Thank you Jandle, I much appreciate that you've taken the time to have a listen and comment.
BTW, I'm working on an instrumental medley I'm hoping to complete soon.
Jim, us old married men should stick together. Shopping centres should have a pub in the middle where we can while away the hours while the women folk enjoy shopping.
( Jan, Amy, said very tongue in cheek)
